I had just moved to the town of Kate Berry because my mother wanted to live away from Bralord where we used to live, since the thought of father abandoning us was just too much for her.

She used to be what people call a drape! She had a cool black motorbike, she wore leather and short dresses and swore her head off.

All that changed when I was ten and father came home from the pub one night, saying he had found another woman and he was leaving us.

It broke my mum and she never did anything like a drape after that. Instead she was slowly becoming a square.

"This looks like a promising neighborhood, doesn't it, Elizabeth." Mum said smiling.

"You'll make lots of new friends and maybe even find a boyfriend!" Mum giggled and nudged my shoulder teasingly.

She loved to tease me over boys. You would have thought that after the experience with father leaving, she would tell me to stay right away from boys all together, but no. Mum wanted what was best for me and she knew that I could do with some excitement in my life from a boy.

Her only rule was to stay well clear from drapes or else I would be deeply punished.

"I hardly doubt that I will get a boyfriend, mum!"

The car pulled into our new house that we had moved into a month ago. I hadn't spoken to anyone my age because the first week we moved here there was no school and the other two weeks mum decided to keep me out of school until I had gotten used to life here.

*The next morning 7:00am*

"Wakey, wakey, Elizabeth, time for your first day of school!" Mum said joyfully poking her head around the door and then she started walking back down stairs, into the kitchen.

"I'm making waffles, darling!" Mum called up.

I made my bed and I opened my grey curtains. There was a boy talking to someone on the other side of the street. He had black hair and wore a white t-shirt, a black leather jacket, blue jeans and a black belt.

I ran down to the kitchen and sat on a stool next to the island.

"Thanks for making waffles, mum!"

"No problem dear, oh by the way, your uncle needs some help fixing his car, so I will be gone for today and tonight. There is pizza on the side and you will have to walk to school today." Mum explained while grabbing her keys and putting her coat on.

"By the way, you are needed in the gym when you get to school, bye honey, see you tomorrow!"

"Ah, the time goes by quickly, I need to start walking to school!"

I grabbed my things and started walking to school. On the way I kept thinking about that hot boy I had seen outside of my window.

"I did but my dad decided that we should move here instead."

"A year ago now, but I have made five new friends, I should introduce you to them sometime!"

"Sorry, I meant are you a square or a drape."

"Obviously a drape and so are my friends!"

"I wish I was a drape but that's the only rule I have in my house, not to have anything to do with drapes!" I sigh sadly.

"What your mother doesn't know won't hurt her!" Rihanna laughs and we carry on walking to school together.

"Oh look, my friends, I'll introduce you!" She grabs my wrist and starts pulling me to the pavement.

'Hi, Rihanna, who's this square?" A dark haired woman said.

"I'm not a square, ok!" I reply back, knowing that I'm a drape, but I just don't look like one.

"You sure look like one!"

"This is my best friend from years ago, Elizabeth Bridget!" Rihanna butted in.

"This is Mona or Hatchet Face!"

I look at her and smile.

"This is her boyfriend, Milton!"

"This is Pepper, who is the leader's sister, she is also pregnant and has two children."

"Nice name, Pepper." I say looking back at Rihanna.

"And this is Wanda!"

Rihanna finishes and a boy walks up behind her.

"Oh, hey Rocco!"

The boy wraps his arms around her waist.

"This is Rocco my boyfriend, Elizabeth, I'll see you all later!"

They walked off kissing and so did Mona and Milton.

I looked at Wanda.

"Hi, I love your look, Lizzy!"

"Thanks, Wanda!" I could tell that me and Wanda were going to be best friends.

"Do you mind me calling you Lizzy?"

"No problem, I actually like that nickname!"

We walk the rest of the way to school together. Wanda and I both struggle to get through the thick crowd of people trying to get into the gym.

I see a poster which says what they were doing in the gym. I got scared and ran back through the crowd.

Wanda couldn't make her way through the crowd to get to me and then she got pushed back into the gym.

After half an hour, everyone was in the gym and I sat down on the steps in front of it.

"What are you doing out of the gym, young lady?"

"You can't drive in this, you might die!"

"What am I supposed to do then?"

"You could come inside until the rain stops!"

"Okay!"

I knew that my mother wouldn't be happy with me but she was gone for the night anyway. Besides like Rihanna said 'What your mother doesn't know won't hurt her'.

We ran inside and we were completely drenched.

"Hey, come with me." I said and ran up the stairs, Wade following behind me.

"You can dry yourself in there, I'll just go and get changed!" I pointed to the bathroom and I ran off to my room to get changed.

I picked out some random pj's and put them on.

I walked out of my room and went to go check on Cry baby.
