Hermione and Draco had been dating since the their fourth year, after he had found her crying at the Black Lake because the annoying ginger boy that was supposed to be one of her best friends threw a temper tantrum after seeing her kissing Viktor Krum under the mistletoe that had them trapped in place. And they had been a great couple, that is until Lucius Malfoy had forced the boy to take the Dark Mark, and fight on the side of Voldemort, trying to do what was best/ safest for the only girl he'd ever loved enough to open up too, so he broke up with Hermione, the only explanation that Draco gave his girlfriend of almost two years is "It's supposed to hurt, one day you'll be able to move on!"

In the years since Draco had broken up with Hermione she had realized that eventually the memories she'd made with Draco were fading, and she was ready to date again. She wasn't a slut by any means, but as her way of moving on she had taken to dating many different guys, from the likes of Fred Weasley, to Blaise Zabini, she'd even given Viktor Krum another go, and all of them were nice enough but for some reason by the second or third date she would find herself going back to the way that Draco had told her they were over, and it would be to much for her. So then she'd have to start the whole dating process over again, it wasn't until she'd bumped into one of Draco's old Slytherin mates Theodore Nott, (Little did she know Theo had always had a crush on the smartest witch of their age) so when he bumped into her one day during a meeting which everyone who worked in the Department of Magic had to attend he felt like it was fates way of telling him this was his chance, so he asked her out on a date, when she smiled at him before saying "Yes, Theodore that sounds lovely!" Theo couldn't believe his luck, and he wore a smile for the rest of the day.

It was five dates later and Hermione had yet to have any of her past issues, making her think she'd finally done it, she had gotten over the boy who still had her heart even after all these years, before Hermione realized she and Theo's were celebrating their six month anniversary. Earlier in the day Theo had sent his girlfriend a beautiful bouquet of Lilies which were her favorite, with a card saying that he had asked Pansy and Ginny to take her shopping over lunch for a new dress. Although he knew that this would get him in some hot water, so he was quick to add not that I don't love how you dress already, LOVE! I just want tonight to be special. As upset as Hermione wanted to be at the ex Slytherin she just couldn't be, instead she did as he asked and went with her two friends to a muggle dress shop, after about two hours, the three of them had decided on a the most beautiful white V-cut dress that Hermione had ever seen, what made it better was that the dress was on sale, for two hundred dollars.

Theo had wanted to make the night extra special, so he made reservations to the newest restaurant in Hogsmade, owned by Fred and George, who knew that Theo was planning on proposing to Hermione that night. The twins had been trying to talk Theo out of this for weeks as they both suspected that their friend wasn't as over Draco as she claimed to be, Theo had just told Hermione, "Love, I know that we've only been together for six months, but I have loved you for years. And I know that Draco broke your heart, but I feel as if I was the one to finally put it back together, would you please do me the honor of becoming my wife?" Hermione had been about to say "Yes!" but then she seen none other than Draco walk into the restaurant holding hands with Lavender Brown, and all of her thoughts were lost as she quickly excused herself, and headed towards the restroom barely making it into an empty sitting area before her cheeks were stained with tears.

Little did anyone know that Draco hadn't taken the break up well at all (even if it had been for the best) he had turned to drinking and taking muggle drugs for years, when finally his mother made him go to rehab telling him "Son, I know what it's like to lose the one you love, but your killing your self. Now you either go and get help or I will be forced to cut off your inheritance!" Which is where he'd bumped into Lavender Brown, who was also in rehab due to the fact that she couldn't take being a werewolf, and had tried to kill herself on more than one occasion. The two of them had managed to heal together, and this was their first date, it was Lavender who had chosen this restaurant,  Draco watched as Hermione ran from the table she had been sitting at, after a few minutes he excused himself from his date to go check on his ex, when he finds her sitting against the bathroom wall crying his heart instantly broke. He sits down next to her before pulling her onto his lap, and whispering "Baby, please don't cry! I hate to see you hurting!" Hermione looks at him before she replied "Yeah? You have a funny was if showing it!" "Love, I did what I had to do to keep my father and aunt from killing you, and I know that I should have went about our break up differently, and for that I am SO sorry! But I know that Theo makes you happy, which is all I want for you." Hearing the man apologize made Hermione more upset, turning away from him she says "I'm still trying to get over you, I honestly thought that I had, but seeing you here now, made me realize that I am not ready for this." Before Draco could say anything else Hermione apparitions out of his arms, leaving the restaurant and Theo behind.

It was three years later as Draco and Lavender sat at their dining room table reading the Daily Prophet when they came across an article as well as a set of pictures, one was of Hermione in a beautiful white wedding gown smiling brightly at Harry Potter, who is also in a suit. The other is Hermione leaning into Harry's chest, they were holding hands and looking extremely happy together, the article reads "War heroes Hermione Granger, and Harry Potter have married, after secretly dating for the last two years. Even though it broke Draco's heart, he smiles over at his fiancé and mother of his new born son as he tells "At least she's finally found someone that can make her happy." Lavender smiles back at him as she says "I always knew they'd get together eventually."
