A/N: Hey everyone! Hope you guys liked the last oneshot. I have already started planning for it, but I won't be starting it after I finish this book, because I already have plans for another Dramione fanfic. Anyways, just to let you all know, this oneshot takes place a few years after their eight year ended. Read the A/N at the end to find out when the next chapter will be out. On with the chapter!

Draco had expected to see many weird things when he entered the bar. But the sight he saw, was not the one he had expected to see in a hundred years.

In front of him, a witch was drinking Firewhiskey. His eyes widened when he realised that witch was none other than Hermione know-it-all Granger.

"What is she doing here?" He muttered while still standing in front of the door.

She had one empty bottle of Firewhiskey near her on the table, while the second one, half empty, was in her hands.

"Looks like the Weasel messed up again." He sighed.

He was still looking at her, and then suddenly-

"Oww... You idiot." He muttered as he glared at the person who had just entered the bar. He slowly got up from the floor, and his glare intensified.

"Not my fault you were standing in front of the door, idiot. They should just put up a sign here saying that nobody's allowed to stand in front of the door." The person rolled his eyes at Draco.

"They should just remove this door, and instead put a door that opens outside and not inside." Draco said.

"Oh wait, you're Malfoy, right? I am Justin Finch-Fletchley, I was in your year at Hogwarts." He held out his hand for Draco to shake.

"I think you should say sorry to me for making me fall on the ground." Draco said, ignoring his handshake.

"Or maybe you can just use your pea sized brain and stand anywhere else except in front of the door, genius." Justin said, retrieving his hand.

"My father will hear about this!" Draco said and walked away from there.

"Sure Malfoy, let me just call your father to tell what an idiot his son his." Justin shouted, walking away as well.

Draco ignored him, and made his way towards Hermione. He sat down next to her and she looked at him.

"Malfoy! Fancy seeing you here, huh." Hermione said and immediately burst into laughter for a reason Draco still didn't understand.

"I don't think I had ever imagined to see you here, Granger." Draco ordered a glass of Firewhiskey for himself.

"Where did you imagine me to be then?" She asked him.

"In the library. Or, perhaps sitting in the bookshop all day like you usually do. " He rolled his eyes as he took a sip of his drink.

"Ooo... Were you spying on me, Malfoy?" She giggled. "Didn't know you had a crush on me."

"How come you haven't passed out yet? One bottle was enough for that during Hogwarts. What happened now?" He ignored her question.

Again, she burst into laughter. "You still remember those stupid parties, huh? Or how you used to carry me to my bed after I would have passed out." Upon seeing the look of shock on his face, she added, "Ginny told me all about that."

"Of course she did. And what happened to the rule you made in our eighth year according to which we would call each other by our first names?" He asked.

"I don't see you calling me H-Hermy... Why my name is so hard to speak?" She started laughing and told the bartender to bring another bottle of Firewhiskey.

"Definitely drunk." Draco muttered as he paid for their drinks. "Come on, Gra-Hermione. You have had enough drinks."

"You're no fun, Draco. Just chill." She glared at him as he pulled her up.

"I am getting you out of here. I am sure you will pass out any minute now." He wrapped his arm around her waist to steady her.

"Can I tell you a secret?" She leaned her head on his shoulder as he helped her to walk away from there.

Merlin, she couldn't even stand properly let alone walk. "What?" He closed the door of the bar behind him.

"You are soooooo cute, Draco." She giggled and pulled his cheeks.

"Malfoys aren't cute." He told her. "Anyways, why were you drinking, Hermione?"

"So you aren't a Malfoy then." She started chuckling as he glared at her. "Let's take a walk, Drakey!"

"I told you to stop calling me that. It's cringey." He told her. "Tell me what happened."

"I will if we take a walk." She clapped her hands as he rolled his eyes at her. He knew there was a park nearby, and he led them there.

As he led her towards a bench, he noticed her shivering. She was simply wearing a sleeveless dress in winter. "Are you crazy? Where's you coat?" He asked her as they sat down.

"I had cast a warming charm on myself before I came here, around one a half hour back... It only works for an hour so..." She sheepishly looked at him.

He rolled his eyes and cast a warming charm on her. Despite that, she snuggled up to him, wrapping her hands around his waist while resting her head on his chest.

Draco gulped as he looked down at her. It wasn't anything new. She used to do that during the winter holidays when they would be sitting in their common room and would be watching an emotional movie on the television McGonagall had put there.

He didn't mind that. She had told him that he was one of his closest friends. He loved when she snuggled up to him like that, it proved that he wasn't a cold hearted monster.

This had been their weekly routine. They would watch a new movie each week. She would sit like that, while he would wrap an arm around her waist. But that changed when they worked on a particular potion three months before graduation.

Flashback

"..........and this is Amortentia. The most powerful love potion in the world. It is distinctive for its mother-of-pearl sheen, and steam rises from the potion in spirals. Amortentia smells different to each person, according to what attracts them. For example, I can smell freshly mown grass, new parchment, spearmint toothpaste and um..." Hermione leaned a bit closer to the cauldron. "Green apples." She mumbled, and sighed thankfully when nobody heard her.

She went back to her place as other students formed a line to smell the love potion. She knew whom those scents belonged to. How could she not? They shared a dormitory.

But it wasn't right. She couldn't be attracted to him. She loved Ron, right? That only meant one thing.

That love potion wasn't brewed nicely. Yes, that was the explanation.

Draco leaned closer to the cauldron when it was his turn. He had an idea about what he would smell in that potion, but he kept denying it again and again.

Old leather, mint toothpaste and a cat's hair. Those could only belong to one person. The girl Draco thought he might be in love with.

He looked at her, and a moment later, she looked back at him. Draco immediately turned around.

She wasn't looking at him, right? Yeah, she was looking at the wall behind him.

He didn't pay any attention to his surroundings as he looked at that love potion. He had to stay away from her. That wasn't entirely possible considering they were the Heads, but he would try to spend most of his time outside the Heads'Dormitory.

He knew he was in love with her, and that she was in a relationship. They couldn't be together.

That was the day Draco decided that their weekly movie nights would end, and he would try to act cold towards her.

Flashback over

He hesitantly wrapped his arm around her waist, and she smiled. "You know how long it has been since we sat like this?" She asked him.

"Six years. I am surprised you remember we used to sit like this before." He said.

"I thought you were the one who forgot. After all you..." She faltered at the end.

"Tell me why you were here." He told her, trying to ignore how her voice sounded when she said that.

"You know that day after tomorrow was my wedding with Ron." She started.

"Was?" He asked, but then he looked at her hand, and saw that the ring on her finger wasn't there.

"Let me explain." He nodded, and she continued, "I had finished my work early today, so I went back home thinking that maybe we both could've a movie date tonight."

"Just as I had entered the living room, I saw Ron kissing another girl on the couch. I was shocked. I didn't believe it at first, but then apparently the girl saw me and pulled away from him. He started saying that it was a mistake and all that rubbish, and the girl asked him why he was lying." Hermione told him.

"What did you do?" Draco asked her, trying his best to control his anger. He always knew that the Weasel would mess up again and again.

"I threw my engagement ring at him, and also threw a few nasty hexes at him. I told him that our relationship is over and to get out of my house. But then, he told me that it was 'his' house since it was his name on the lease. We had moved in after he proposed to me, and I was apparently too happy to realize that fact that time. I punched him, and then I ended up here, trying to forget everything that had happen." She finished.

Before he could say anything, she added, "Somehow, I think it's my fault. I was just boring enough for him to do that."

"Don't you dare blame yourself for this, Hermione Granger." Draco exclaimed. "He's the one who is at fault here. First, cheating on you, then balming you and lastly, throwing you out of that house. He's a bloody selfish prat who doesn't deserve you in the slightest."

Hermione smiled at his words. "To be honest, I don't think that we were ever really meant to be."

"What do you mean?" He asked her.

"He never understood me, no matter how hard I tried to make him understand. We were always too busy. I think I knew that fact all this time, but I just tried to convince myself otherwise. You know, those scents that I smelled in the Amortentia, they weren't his. It was someone else, but I just thought that it was a mistake, and that it meant nothing." She explained it to him.

"You know Amortentia never lies, right?" He smirked at her.

"Well, I guess I learned that now." She sheepishly smiled at him.

"So much for being the Brightest Witch of Our Age." He rolled his eyes as she laughed. A few moments later, he turned towards her to see her already looking at him.

"Why did you leave, Draco? Why did you push me away? Why did you became so distant? I haven't talked to you ever since Ron proposed to me." She asked him. "You promised me in our eighth year that you would always be there for me. What happened to that?"

How could he tell her the truth?

How could he tell her that he was in love with her, and had been since their eighth year?

How could he tell her that he had to push himself away from her ever since her engagement to that Weasel had been announced because he couldn't bear to see Weasley near his love?

So, instead of answering her questions, Draco said, "I think you should probably go back home now. You have already had two bottles of Firewhiskey."

Luckily for him, she didn't notice that. "Haven't you heard a word of what I had said? It was his house, not mine. I don't have anywhere to go. I am homeless!" Hermione shook her head.

"What about Weaslette and Saint Potter's house? Or your parents'? You can go there. I don't think they won't be happy to help you." He suggested.

"I can't bother them now, Draco. It's almost midnight. I will just have to book a room in Leaky Cauldron, I guess, and then go back tomorrow to my- I mean his house to grab my things. And then, I'll figure out what to do. You should probably go back home." Hermione said.

"And how do you think you're going to go to the Leaky Cauldron? You can barely stand straight, you can't risk apparating on your own and then splinching yourself." He told her.

"I-I will... I don't know." She looked at her feet.

"You're coming with me. I will take you to my place, you can sleep in one of the guests room, and then do whatever you want to do in the morning." He stood up.

"B-but, I don't want to bother you, Draco-" She tried to protest but he cut her off.

"Nonsense. You're coming with me, and that's final. You can't disagree now." He held out his hand to her, pulling her up.

"Fine, you stubborn idiot." She grumbled as he pulled her against him, and apparated them to his house.

The first thing Hermione said when she saw the house was, "Wow. It's beautiful."

"It is." Draco said, looking at the witch in front of him.

"Merlin! There's a pool as well!" She grinned at him.

"Did you expect the Malfoy heir to not have a pool at his home? Seems like you forgot me, Granger." He winked at her.

She smirked at him, and then ran towards the pool, completely forgetting the fact that it was midnight and winter was going on.

Draco tried to stop her, but before he could do anything, she jumped into the pool. Everything was quiet for a moment, and then:

"AHHHHH! The water is freezing!" Hermione screamed.

Draco laughed and ran towards her. He helped her to come out of the pool while he continued laughing. "You are truly stupid, Hermione. What were you even thinking while doing that? But at least I got the entertainment. Drunk Granger is fun."

Hermione glared at him and started punching his chest. "You- you foul loathsome evil little cockroach. Couldn't have stopped me, huh?"

He quickly grabbed her hands in his. "It's been years since you said that line, Hermione. And you still remember that."

"I remember the punch as well." She innocently smiled at him.

"Now now, Granger. I am offering you my place to say. Be nice." He told her and led her towards his house.

"It's not like I requested you to do that. It was completely your choice." She muttered, but he chose to ignore her.

He led her to his living room, and told her to sit on the couch. "I'll go and get your room ready."

"Draco." He was about to walk away, when he felt her tugging at his coat. "You will take care of me, right? Like how you promised me. You won't push me away this time? And, you won't hurt me like he did?"

Draco smiled at her. He knew she was sleepy and wouldn't remember any of this in the morning. But that didn't mean he wouldn't tell the truth. "Of  course." He kissed her forehead.

"Wait here, I-" He started but was cut off when he heard his phone ringing. He took out his phone, and as soon as he saw the name of the person, he walked away from her.

"Hello, Mother." He said.

"Hello, Draco. Is Miss Granger sleeping?" His mother asked him.

Draco sighed. "How do you even know that she is here?"

"I don't reveal my secrets, Draco. Anyways, tell me what had happened?" Narcissa asked him. He told her everything, from how he had found her drinking at the bar to why she was here now.

"That prat. How could he even hurt such a sweet and kind girl like her? Tell me if you require my help in using some spells on him, Draco." Narcissa said.

Draco laughed at that. "I never imagined that you would ever speak words like those, Mother. But no, I don't require your assistance now considering that Hermione had already done that. But, if it's required in the future, I'll be sure to contact you."

"Take care of her, Draco. I know you love her. Consider this as your chance to prove your love to her." Narcissa smiled.

"I can't ever hide anything from you, can I? Also, she just broke off her engagement, Mother. Give her some time. I don't even know if she loves me or not." Draco said.

"Oh Draco. You can be stupid at times, you know? Anyways, go and sleep now. I'll come and visit you both in the morning. Goodnight, son." She said.

"Goodnight, Mother." He said and ended the call. He went back to her, and saw her sleeping on the couch, her purse on the floor.

He hesitated for a second, but then picked her up and led her towards his room. His first thought was to put her in the guest room, but he knew that she would freak out because of finding herself in an unfamiliar place when she would wake up in the morning.

He placed her on his bed and accioed her purse to his room. When that was done, he removed her shoes, and removed hair tie, gently running a hand through her hair. He used a spell to remove her makeup, and tucked her under the blanket.

He went to the washroom, changed into his pajamas, and came back to his room. He sat down next to the bed on the ground, and took her hand in his.

"I will take care of you, Hermione. I'll never hurt you. I'll be there by your side, forever, even when you don't want me to." He whispered.

He kissed her hand and rested his head on the bed. "And, that's a promise."
