Chapter 6

Roman dumped his bag loudly on the table with a pout, making Thomas jump. "You won't believe it!" He whined, slumping into his chair.

"Won't believe what?" Asked Thomas hesitantly.

"Logan isn't letting me copy his geography homework! I didn't do it last night, I was too busy rehearsing Gabrial!"

Thomas patted Roman's' back awkwardly, "Well, I don't think I'm in your Geography, Ro. Maybe ask Pat?"

"He isn't in any of my lessons though!" Roman cried, slouching forwards onto the table in mock defeat.

A piece of paper waved from in between them with neat handwriting. The two boys behind them to see Virgil holding out a sheet of work in embarrassment, looking away from them with his face flushed. "Here."

"When were you in our homeroom?" Mused Thomas, as Roman awkwardly took the homework.

"Since when did you look behind you? I sit behind you guys, idiot." Snapped Virgil, crossing his arms defensively.

Thomas raised his hands slightly, "No need to get hostile, buddy, I've just never noticed you!"

"Yeah, well, whatever..." Virgil answered, curling away from Thomas's' stare by pulling out a script and scanning it over as he snatched a sketch book from his desk.

With a shrug, Thomas turned back to Roman who was frantically copying the homework. "So... What are you studying in Geography?"

"Tectonic plates and how they cause natural disasters."

"Huh, cool. This conversation has gotten really awkward."

"Yes. Yes, it has."

The drama club was pretty successful. The teacher was standing on stage instructing groups. "Okay so, Everyone auditioning for Gabrial needs to go stage left, people auditioning for Romeo go centre stage and everyone wanting the part of Lucifer, you go stage right! Virgil, buddy, I'm gonna want to see those costume designs and then I'll show you and Thomas the light and sound ques!"

Virgil paused nervously while pulling out his sketchbook and flicked his tongue over his teeth nervously. "I... I don't want to do lights this term, sir..."

"Virgil? Are you sure? Are you dropping some of your jobs?"

The emo shook his head frantically as all eyes fell on him. "N-No, sir, it's just f-for this play!"

"You're dropping all your jobs for this play?" Frowned the teacher.

"No!" Virgil squeaked, eyes widening as everyone began whispering curiously. "Just the lights and sounds and stuff... I can do it if you need me to!"

The teacher's' frown deepened. Remy Bucks, that was his name - in the club, he let everyone call him Remy but, in lessons, he was 'Sir' or 'Mr Bucks'. Virgil was the only one who kept calling him 'Sir'. "Virgil," Said Remy slowly, "What are you trying to say?"

"I wanted t-t-to audition f-f-for Lucif-f-fer..." Stuttered the anxious one.

Remy beamed, "Well, that's great! If you just show me your designs, because I know you'll have some ideas, I'll let you run off to the blocking and teach Thomas the ropes myself!"

Virgil nodded shyly before walking quickly to the stage, flicking through the sketchbook. Thomas followed, nosily trying to peer into the book.

Remy nodded. "All looks pretty good, Virge. Alright," The teacher moved away, "Everyone, follow your dramaturg! Thomas, come with me!"
