Chapter 4: Just a Hangout

“So…What is this place?” I asked with a hand on my hip and my eyebrows raised.

“Just a hangout.” Vincent said simply with a shrug.

My eyes just popped out of my head and I looked at him like he was insane.

“JUST A HANGOUT?!! YOU CALL A HUMUNGOUS MANSION, 10 TIMES THE SIZE OF MY HOUSE, A STUPID HANGOUT?” I screamed incredulously.

Stupid rich snobby kids! My mom basically works he butt off day and night, on her own, while these bozos are having the time of their lives in a mansion that could take the rest of my life to pay off! But I can’t blame them. Their parents are probably rolling in money and like parent like child, the child will learn from the parent.

“Woah, your house must be pretty small then.” Matt said in a quiet voice.

My head snapped in his direction and he winced once again at the glare I gave him. I was supposed to be here to cool off and now I don’t think this was such a good idea. Actually, it just wasn’t a good idea to go ‘hangout’ with four muscular strangers. Who are guys! Yeah, for a nerd, I am pretty smart.

“Look, I would watch what you say to me because you could end up like the blonde bimbo I beat up in the cafeteria earlier!”

“Hey! Don’t talk to him like that. We may not know you, but have you ever thought that we have never even talked to someone who is…” Will jumped in and struggled for his word choice.

“Poor? Bad financial problems? Come on Will! Say it. But, you’re right. I am poor and I shouldn’t have yelled at Matt like that. But can you blame me? After the whole crap I have been through today, you could probably say that today was one of the worst days I have ever had. You want to know why? It’s because you guys showed up, why you couldn’t leave me alone, I don’t know! But it was also because of the fact that I had to move to another school and because of the Barbie that I fought with!” I was crying by this point.

They weren’t the whole blame for this crappy day. But how come they didn’t back off when I first encountered with them? It was very obvious that I didn’t like them, but they still went to sit with me at lunch. Maybe they are just trying to play me, be nice to me and once I actually fall for one of them, they will dump me like a pile of trash. Yep, that has got to be it.

“No, that’s not what we’re trying to do. That’s the total opposite! We were just trying to get to know you a bit more. When we first met you, Savannah…you intrigued us. So can we show you around our hangout? I and im sure the rest of the boys too, want to turn that frown upside down.” Jordan said with one of those smiles.

He didn’t even give me a chance to say anything about what he said. Not like I could say anything, I was gaping at him and was in total shock. When he started to brush my tears away and start moving in closer, I couldn’t move. What the heck was happening! Why was my body not freaking functioning when I need it most!

Jordan was only an inch away from my lips, before a hand grabbed his shoulder and a body blocked my view from him.

“That’s enough, you said we were going to show her around, so let’s begin, shall we?” It was Vincent. He was glaring intently at Jordan, and Jordan was glaring right back. Okay, I’m a little confused here. What is going on and why are they glaring at each other!? Was it something I did?

A hand slipped in my and pulled me slowly away from the scene. I looked up and saw Matt. He’s so sweet, and I suddenly feel guilty for yelling at him. He doesn’t know what my situation is, he didn’t even mean it. Besides, he probably meant to say it in his head.

“Look,” We both said at the same time.

Then we tried again. “I’m so,” Wow, really?

I giggled and suggested that he went first with my hands.

“IM SO SORRY! I didn’t mean it at all, it…it just slipped, please forgive me?” He said in a soft voice and gave me the puppy dog eyes, I immediately gave in.

I can see how he got all the girls. “What are you apologizing for? It was my fault for yelling nonsense at you. I guess it was all of the anger inside me building up, you know?”

“Kind of…”

We were walking down endless hallways for a while, until we got to a library, which was frigging huge by the way! “Awesome! I love libraries!” I then blushed after I said that. Why am I so stupid?

“Sorry, im a nerd and love books!” I squealed at the amount of books around me. It was truly amazing. There were books covering every inch of the wall. I just wanted to read them all, even if it took me a million years! This was like the chocolate factory for a nerd. This would be the dream life for me.

“I love books also. Im a bit of a nerd…” His cheeks turned a light pink. Awe, he is blushing. So cute!

But his words sunk in and I looked at him in a state of shock. What!? A jock (that’s what im guessing, I mean what hot guy like him wouldn’t be?) like him, is a nerd. Well that’s a first. But I guess jocks can be smart too.

He cleared his throat and tried to clear up the awkwardness that filled the room. Talk about awkward elephant! “Uh…So…What’s your favorite book?”

I smirked to myself before plastering a huge smile on my face. I just reread this book for the 1,230th time yesterday. No joke. I am in love with this novel. “The Outsiders, by S.E Hinton.” I said without hesitation.

“No way! That’s mine!”

I grabbed a hold of his hands and started to bounce around the room with him. Matt and I both were smiling at each other and jumping around the room like little five year olds. Oh my gosh, this is so exciting! It turns out me and him have a lot in common, like Cherry and Pony found out that they had something in common! (Outsiders stuff) Cherry was from the rich group, the Socs, and Pony was a part of the poor gang, the greasers. Wow, what an amazing connection!

“Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” I shouted out in glee.

“About Cherry and Ponyboy?” He questioned me with a spark in his eye.

“Yes! Yes! Yes!” I bounced up and down.

“Woah, woah, woah. Did a marriage proposal go on, while we were gone?” Will asked in the doorway, with his arms crossed across his chest. I almost fainted right there. He is just so gorgeous.

Jordan and Vincent stormed in the room after Will had said that and said at the same time, “What wedding proposal!?”

This had me cracking up and banging the floor with my fists and holding my stomach. “Y-you… s-s-should’ve seen…Hahahahaha!! Y-your ffffaceesss!!!! Hahahhahahahhaha!! Oh my gosh, i-I’m dying!!!” They all watched me in a strange expression while I was rolling all over the floor. I haven’t laughed this hard since I was like 8.

Then after a few moments, Will started to crack up along with me, but stopped when he got mean glares from both Vincent and Jordan. I finally calmed down after five minutes, but when I looked at the two again, I started laughing all over again.

“Okay, okay. You guys leave, me and Savannah here have something to talk about.” Matt said to the boys when I had stopped. He gave me a wink and I gave him wink back. Knowing what he was going to talk about.

The boys saw our mini exchange and Vincent was the first to speak up. “What are you going to talk about? You guys have nothing in common!” He demanded.

“Someone’s a little jealous…” Jordan said in a falsetto tone.

“Oh Shut up, I know you were thinking it too!” Vincent said while getting in his face.

The two boys then started bickering with each other, about what they were thinking about and who was jealous, crap like that.

“Aweeee, you two look like an old married couple!” I looked at them in fake adoration and Will just started snickering from where he was, which was still in the door way.

“Shut up!” They both yelled at the same time to Will.

He immediately shut his mouth and I couldn’t help but make another comment. “Oh, so now your twins?”

Vincent gave me a glare before stomping out of the room. Jordan gave Matt a look that said something, but I couldn’t understand it. Whatever it was, it had made him gulp and for a flicker of a second fear bounced in his eyes. Whaaaaaaaaa??

Matt looked back at me and gave me a sad look. “Look I got to go…do something. You keep yourself company and read a couple of books. Maybe you could read Outsiders and that will calm you a bit. Alright, see you later.” And with that he walked out of the room with not even as much as a glance back.

The only one left in the room was stupid Will, who gave me a wink then a salute and vanished down the hallway. UGH! Jerk!

What just even happened? I thought they were going to give me a tour? This is definitely not a tour! It is wrong to leave a girl stranded in a place she doesn’t even know. What happened to that moment, Matt and I just had like ten minutes ago!?

Those boys are so confusing!!!

Well, I guess this leaves one thing. I was not going to sit here for what might be hours, reading! I guess im skipping school today too, because it doesn’t seem they are going to go back. Eh, I don’t even want to go back to that stupid preppy school anyways. So what am I going to do?

I was going to give myself my own tour of this stupid place. I mean, I couldn’t get that lost. It was only just a hangout. I scoffed to myself. Yeah right! It would probably be a miracle that I wouldn’t get lost. But you always go to take chances, right?

I absolutely loved this chapter. The reason why I chose The Outsiders, is because my class in school just finished reading it and Guess what grade I got on my freaking test, that no one else got?
