Chapter 19: Getting To Know You

Chapter 19: Getting to know you

Dedicated to all my loving fans and readers :)

I sneaked out of Denny's, giving Ryan a wink on my way out when he shot me a glare. But, to my surprise and satisfaction, his glare dropped and I watched with a grin as Ryan mouthed, He is hot. I laughed silently and went to sit on a bench that was not too far from the store. The boys would be able to see me here. I just hoped by boys, it was just Jordan and Vincent. Even they were hard to handle.

I kept thinking of different ways to get Matt to come out to me. His secret this entire time. He was mostly on the silent side and he stopped being a player a while back. Or so he said. I felt bad, because if Matt was just gay, then he was probably lonely. There wasn't anybody in the school that batted for the same gender like he did.

This means I'd have to scope out the school. There had to be at least one person that was bi or gay. That thought quickly faded as a roar of a motorcycle came from down the street. I snapped my head to the sound, to glare at the vehicle that dared to interrupt my thoughts. My glare changed into confusion as the motorcycle pulled up in front of me.

“You own one of these!?” I gasped in surprise as I recognized who it was. At least it was only one person and not Matt. I really wasn't ready for that. Seeing him actually caused my heart to pound weirdly in my chest. Probably because of my... hatred for him. Yeah that was it.

He took off his helmet allowing me to make eye contact with his piercing blue ones. His eyes went into slits after moments of me awkwardly gawking at him. “Are going to get on or no? I have places to be!” He snapped harshly with a helmet in his hands.

My cheeks flushed in embarrassment and I snatched the helmet out his hands, slamming it onto my head. “I hate you for this.” I mumbled, realizing that I had never rode or went near one of these beast killing machines before. Fear suddenly shot up my stomach.

“You ready?” He asked, the harshness in his voice slowly turning to amusement. He knew.

“W-where do I h-hold on?” I couldn't believe I was stuttering and letting him know more of my sudden fear.

He grabbed my hands and wrapped them around his waist, easily keeping balance of the bike and the both of us. “Right here sweetheart.” He still didn't have his helmet on, so I could see the stupid smirk on his face.

“Thanks..” I managed to breathe out, controlling myself after feeling his hard rock abs through the tight shirt he had on.

“V-Vincent?” I cursed myself, hearing the frightened tone of my voice.

“Yes?” He replied, motioning me to go on while he put on his helmet.

“Go slow okay?”

“Slow is for old people. I like to go fast.” I could feel the cockiness rolling off his muscled back in waves. As we sped off, I held on tighter, but feeling the breeze blowing through my hair and racing down the streets. I sorta felt... refreshed. And I badly wanted to tell Vincent, That's what she said.

But that was not happening as I suddenly got lost in my surrounding, my cheek against Vincent's back.

* * *

Vincent had to stop at an auto shop, where his actual car was. It turned out that his dad owned the place, so it was where Vincent stored some of his vehicles when he went out somewhere. He ended up talking to some of his 'buddies' so I was stuck sitting on one of the couches. I looked at my bare nails and wondered when the last time I painted them. I almost laughed out loud when I realized it has been about 10 years ago at some 7 year old's party.

Am I really that bored to be thinking about my nails? Since when did I become that person? Where's a textbook when you need one?

“Savannah.” I heard my name being called and instantly my head went in the direction of the voice. How long have I been sitting here?

“Meet one of my friends.” I looked at Vincent in surprise and then turned my attention to a girl beside him. She had black hair, and golden eye contacts in, with a small amount of make-up on. She wore a leather jacket and ripped jeans, along with untied combat boots.

“Hey, what's up?” She smiled, but looked at me as if she was trying to figure something out. She seemed sort of confused.

“Hey...”I trailed off, not really sure of her confusion. Was she wondering why I was hanging around Vincent, because if that was the case, I had no answer. I didn't know the reason for it myself.

“You go to his school?” She nodded to Vincent who was now across the room, talking to an older man.

“Yeah, where do you go?” I haven't seen her around the school, even if I hadn't seen much of it yet. But I was sure that I would have seen her at least around Vincent.

“Nowhere. I dropped out. I hate school.” She wrinkled up her nose in disgust at the word.

I rolled my eyes, “School's okay. I'm sort of a nerd there.”

“What are you doing hanging around Vincent?” The confusion that I saw before in her eyes was back at full force. I was right, she did want to ask that question, wasn't that hard to guess.

“No clue.” I shrugged and was ready to walk over to Vincent. That was before I saw another emotion flash through her fake gold eyes. She was jealous?

“Stay away from him. You aren't his type, so I suggest you go stick your head in a book and keep your eyes on the chalkboard when he's around.” She sneered. And to think that for one second I thought that we could be friends. Great, here's another one threatening me. I did nothing but roll my eyes, and stayed seated on the couch.

“I'm not after your little crush, I just want to head to school.” I was already late. No need for more drama today! I mean, it was still morning for good sake!

“We're not going to school. Why would you think I'm going to school?” Vincent's voice came and sounded close. “Ronny, I think you should leave. I expected you to at least keep Savvy distracted while I dealt with some business, but you decided to threaten her.”

After that, there was a moment of silence, before I heard a huff and the sound of heavy boots storming away. I looked up and make eye contact with Vincent for the second time. He held a hand out for me, which I took hesitantly.

“Come on, we're gunna eat. I already know you didn't eat because I could hear your stomach from across the room, what did Ryan give you? Soda?” He walked towards a blue Audi that looked so yummy, I thought that I could it for the missing meal I didn't have. I paused for a second. Did I really just call a car yummy?

Well, we all have firsts for everything.

“Yup. So what happened to Jordan? He didn't want to come?” I asked, remembering that he was supposed to come to... Or so Samson said.

“Uh he got caught up with one of the slutty cheerleaders on the way out of school parking lot. Lucky us.” He shot me a grin, which I almost fainted at. I blinked two times before nodding slowly. Hearing that Jordan had left to do whatever with some slut and ditching me, made my heart sink in my chest.

That was odd. I might have to go to the doctor for an early check up. My heart was acting up today and sometimes on other days.

“How about I make us a meal at my house?” He suggested as we got in the car.

“You cook?” I gaped at him like a fish out of water.

“Of course. When you're living alone and don't like much people, you gotta learn how to cook.” Vincent snorted and started up the car.

I stared at him, which he didn't seem to mind. There was something wrong with Vincent. He wasn't glaring, he wasn't sneering or being quiet. He was actually letting me get to know him a little more. And I don't think he even knows. But hey, maybe hanging out with Vincent could be more fun than school.
