Chapter 17: The Confession
“You practically threw me over your shoulders, like a cave man may I add, just to take me to Denny's?” I shrieked and watched how he smirked at me with his black Ray Bans that covered his eyes. I wanted to be mad at him, I did, but when you are sitting next to a hot guy who dragged you to a place that served breakfast... You had to be mad crazy or some healthy freak if you said no to having Denny's.
“Is you mad?” He grinned, “Or nah?”
I rolled my eyes, “I'm pretty sure I'm in the middle.”
I watched as he jumped out of the car and ran over to the passenger's side. Opening my door, he greeted me with a bow and held out his large hand for my small one to take. I gave him a small smile, before taking it and getting out of the car. The car, by the way, was a brand new Aston Martin Vanquish. To be honest, I didn't have one clue about cars. But I knew that just by looking at Ryan's car; it had to be expensive.
As we approached the restaurant, I saw that almost the whole entire store was staring at us. Some didn't even feel embarrassed to press their faces against the windows. I shrunk into Ryan's side, who in return, wrapped his arm around my waist. I blushed and hid even further into him.
“Looks like we'll be in this week's headlines.” Smirked Ryan and I all but gaped at the cameras that flashed everywhere once we were inside of Denny's.
“How can you act so casual about this?!” I yelled quietly and gripped Ryan's shirt when a group of girls swarmed around us and asked for his autograph. Autograph? He's that famous?
As he signed a few girls tee-shirts and mostly their necks or... chests, Ryan replied, “I own a well-known company, of course I'm bound to be use to the attention.”
I looked around and caught the glares of many jealous girls. Even men. I rolled my eyes, but didn't let go of Ryan or stray from his side. I didn't blame them for taking an instant hatred towards the girl that was being held by the Ryan Freedman. Ha, his last name reminds me of Morgan Freeman. I don't know why I didn't put two and two together when we first met...
My stomach growled and I tried to hide the sound when it growled again. This caught Ryan's attention and immediately he pushed away all the remaining people that surround us. He maneuvered through the small crowd and sat us both at a table. I didn't even have a chance to move since he practically dragged me along. I really felt like sticking my tongue out at him.
“So... What are you eating?” He smiled softly. His brown eyes looked so gentle, I think I might cry! Wait what? Where was my mind going with this...
“U-Uh, Pancakes?” I said, which seemed more like a question. His hair looked so perfect. My hands itched to run my hands through it.
“Alright. I'll get the same. With buttered toast of course.” Ryan shrugged and didn't look at the menu once. His eyes were trained on me the whole time. I tried so hard not to squirm in my seat that was across from where he was. I nodded, too afraid to speak. I'd probably start rambling or shout out something utterly stupid like, I love you! Oh and you're super hot. Date me! Yeah, I think I'm better off going completely mute.
“So are you going to ask?” His eyes sparkled, but for a quick second I thought I saw nervousness in them.
I was confused, “Ask what?” I tilted my head a little and my eyebrows scrunched together, forming a knot on my forehead.
“Ask why I brought you here?” He rolled his eyes as if it was obvious... I think it was pretty obvious.
“Uh, breakfast?” We just keep hitting each other with these questions back and forth with annoying voices.
“No? What the hell? Of all things you think breakfast?” Ryan had the nerve to start laughing as if my response was stupid. Didn't he tell the guys that he was taking me to breakfast, and he told me also. So there was another reason...
“Just tell me why!”
“I said ask.”
“Why?” I asked agitated and my toes curled up as my annoyance and sudden boredom rose. “Are you still there?” I waved my hands in his face as his eyes seemed to be stuck on something behind me. I tried to turn around but he suddenly grabbed my hand tightly, forcing me to stay put.
He sighed and squeezed his eyes shut. Then like a crazy person; he started to mumble to himself repeatedly. “Savannah... What I'm about to say is really hard for me to confess, but since I have the feeling to tell you everything... I will.”
Then he just kept rambling.
“I mean, this is something big. HUGE. Something that shouldn't be happening... I-I don't even know how it happened, but it did. Savannah, you have to know that I never told anyone this. Not my mother or father. I haven't told anyone but my brother, Matt. You have to keep this a secret... Just please...” He gave me pleading eyes and held my gaze until I looked away from his cuteness.
“Just get on with it!” Geez, I felt like I was in a movie and the other character wouldn't shut up and spit out what they had to say. I watched how Ryan took a deep breath, mentally preparing himself for what he had to say.
I waited in anticipation on the next words that would come out of his mouth. Was it that bad? Was he about to confess his undying love for me? Would he propose to me; a 17 year old with a nerdy appearance and no friends? Yet, what I didn't know was that he was about to say the complete opposite.
“Savannah... I'm gay.”
