Do I hate or do I like?

So of course you guys know I'm a Dragonite (A HTTYD fan).

I'm a fan of the books and the franchise.

BUT! I didn't always like the books.

Why?

Let me tell you my story then.

So, this happened after the HTTYD 2 was released and after I watched it. I love going to bookstores to find Smurf comics or anything, and when I went to Kinokuniya, a bookstrore, (I was in the fangirling period of HTTYD at the time xD) I started noticing a bookshelf that was filled with the title How to Train Your Dragon.

I was EXCITED. I was so loving HTTYD at the time that I bought the first book then and there. I brought it home and read it.

Now I realize it was such a good book series.

But at the time, I was young, and I mean very young, so I didn't understand the meaning of the story at the time. I just knew the highlighted parts of the book, like: there are dragons, Hiccup is the Hero, (for some reason, thought Past Flurry,) Fishlegs was somehow so skinny, and, well, the part when Hiccup was almost swallowed by the Green Death and Toothless saves him at the last minute, Toothless wasn't a Night Fury, and I thought that Toothless was gonna die there.

I also saw a footnote that was on the page when Hiccup spoke Dragonese. It says something like: "Please read 'How to Speak Dragonese' for a crash course of this fascinating language."

Of course Past Flurry was completely interested. The next time I went to Kinokuniya, I bought the third book, which I shouldn'tve, because then I'll never understand who Alvin the Treacherous is.

Then I bought the second, then, because I couldn't find the fourth, I bought the eighth, then the ninth. Then, for some reason, I stopped reading the books.

It was a gradual stop. I began to stop collecting them because I didn't have time, and later because I don't care. Later, my way of writing changed to a book's language. You know, how writers write books. I blamed that change to the HTTYD book series, and I didn't read the books until one and a half years later.

I hated those books so much that I sometimes whispered swear words when I passed them. (Don't worry, I don't do that anymore. I've grown out of that, and serious hate towards something usually happens only to young kids, bcs they don't understand yet.)

I noticed the books in a bookshelf in my house. Once, I tried to persuade my mom to throw them all out, but she said they were quite too expensive to throw away. (And I'm glad she didn't :P)

And at junior highschool, I sighed and gave the books a second chance. I read the third book first, then I read all my collections of the books. I didn't have some of the books yet, so I downloaded the audiobooks and listened to them.

So that is how I hate the books--and returned again. It didn't make much sense, right? Well, I was a gullible and weird kid once.

Lesson? Don't hate anything too much--usually you'll find yourself liking them again. And I know you'll feel weird about that!
