We Join the Circus with a Leaf
"Whoa, it's bright out here in the day time, oh whoops sorry." Torien commented, flexing his wings, and accidentally hitting Phira in the snout.
Yep, this time when we transferred over to Drakardia, it was daytime. Sherbet had said that the time passed differently and I had the sneaking suspicion it was the same day from last night. Which was hard to comprehend. Anyway, we were trying to find out which of the three islands were were on, ZanZar, Skylark, or Alanda, since the possibility of Amanda dropping us somewhere out of the Øya Dragur was not very likely.
It was a good thing Othniel had memorized the map we found on Sherbet's website.
"Reconize anything yet?" I asked wearily. We had been walking around for a good hour or so, I was getting tired of Brachial Plexus as a dragon real fast, I really wish I knew how to make these wings work. That would be tremendous help. They definitely looked big enough to support me.
"Nope, I told you we have to wait until the scenery changes-"
Othniel was interrupted by Torien's yelp as he fell through a barrier of bushes. We all stared at the spot where he was disappeared.
"Torien?" Oswin asked.
"Hey guys I found a change of scenery!" He announced, although his voice sounded very far away.
I pushed through the thick leaves with my head and discovered down a short hill there was a clearing. I couldn't see much else besides that. Torien was sitting at the bottom of the hill with leaves sticking to his horns.
"Wonderful." Othniel agreed, and began making his way down the hill.
I sighed, thinking about how difficult it would be getting down it. I didn't want to be a hindrance to the others but I was pretty exhausted. I definitely wasn't getting any younger.
"Come on Asriel." Phira encouraged. "You can lean on me if you want."
"Thanks." I answered gratefully.
It was easier to see the clearing from the bottom of the hill, because the trees started thinning out. That's when I discovers it wasn't a clearing, but the actual end to the forest. I could also see a town in the distance, and I think an ocean.
"I think we should try there, and ask for directions." Oswin commented.
"Pssh we don't need to ask for directions." Othniel argued. "We were doing fine on our own."
"Boys." She scoffed, walking towards the the village with Phira right next to her.
We stared at them go for a moment. Othniel opened his mouth as if he were going to say some, but didn't.
"We should follow them." I said.
"Yeah." Othniel agreed.
"Hey come on I'm the one who fell down the hill." Torien pointed out, holding out a claw.
Thirty minutes later, the five of us were wondering around the town. There were humans and dragons alike living here. It was kinda of weird, because they were kind of short compared to us, but then again plenty of the dragons we saw walking around were taller then us.
"Hello?" Phira tried to ask an older dragon, he continued walking without noticing her.
"Oh, well I never." She frowned.
"Excuse me sir." I stepped in front of a young male human, he yelped and backed up a few steps.
"W-what do you want?" He asked, his large bushy eyebrows flying up in surprise.
"I was wondering if you could kindly tell us what the name of the island we're currently standing on." I asked politely.
"Oh u-uh." He started chewing on his sleeves. "ZanZar, near the c-captial, Silverwren."
Othniel's face lit up like a Christmas tree. "Ah-ha! Could you point us towards somewhere where we could find transportation to Skylark?"
He mumbled something under his breath. "S-sure, there's a ferry that way, but why don't you just fly?"
Othniel frowned. "I..er."
"Dragon business." Oswin saved him.
He looked at us oddly, but was already backing away and was soon lost in the crowd of other pedestrians mulling through the streets.
"Alright, who want's to go see if we can get ourselves on a boat." I commanded.
Little did I know we were being followed by a small blue-gray dragon the size of kitten. She watched the group carefully from her perch, her yellow eyes blinking in interest.
She clicked her tongue once, and leapt into the air, gliding upon the salty ocean drafts, she was a wyvern, with only two hind feet and generally larger wings. The dragon spotted a young girl with tan skin and wild curly brown hair eating a banana. She tilted her wings foreword and landed on the girl's shoulder.
We had successfully found the harbor. We were looking for a way to get on the large boat docked in the harbor, and this wasn't a normal boat, this was a full on pirate ship, or whatever. I mean it looked like a pirate ship, but didn't really know my ships very well.
"Look guys, there's a gangplank." Phira pointed to a narrow strip of wood connected to the land to the ship.
Torien eyed it warily. "If I fall off someone will go after me right?"
"Sure buddy old chum pal." Othniel answered, putting one paw onto the piece of wood.
"What?"
"Sorry, the fandom momentarily possessed me."
We all stopped moving when a loud voice started shrieking at a very high pitch.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU MANGY GRISATCH?"
I winced and saw a very large, gray bearded man waltzed right up to Torien and bonked him on the nose. Torien snorted and yanked his head back.
"I won't have you vandeling my ship you here me?" He pulled out a huge sword from his belt and brandished it threateningly. "Scram you fire-spitting devils!"
I was about to run for my life when a small girl jumped right in front of him, holding out her hand defensively.
"Whoa whoa, Sir, Captain, they're with me." She smiled brightly at him.
"You said nothing about five dragons." He glared suspiciously at each of us.
Her eye grew wide with shock. "Did I not? Oh, I'm dearly sorry, I can pay extra, I'm afraid it's the last money I have though-"
"Alright alright, fine then." The captain sniffed arrogantly, spitting at us and hobbling aboard the ship.
"Thanks for the save." Torien agreed thankfully.
The girl shrugged. "No prob, but you guy's gotta keep up the act and stick me me, since I saved your butts free of charge."
She hade dark mocha skin and frizzy brown hair that she kept back with an orange ribbon. Darker freckles danced along her nose and her eyes were bright orange, brighter than a normal human's. She also wore an orange dress and some brown leggings, and she couldn't have been older than eleven.
"Are you guys coming or what? You wanna board this ship right?" She asked, walking across the plank with ease, like she was an acrobat. I noticed then she had a small dragon on her shoulder, a tiny one, bluefish gray, with black wings, the tip of her tail was lit on fire but the girl didn't seem to mind.
I looked over the the rest of our group, who shrugged unanimously.
"Yeah, we're coming." I limped over.
"Great, my name's Maple, and if anyone asks, you're part of Freya's Circus!"
