While the Merry Go was dragged away and Luffy, Sanji, and Usopp chased after it, Kari and Chase went to the town. Everyone bowed respectfully upon seeing them and offered them food, dials, and other things of some kind value. Kari and Chase hesitantly accepted the many gifts from the people as they walked onward.

"Chase," Kari whispered. "This is weird. I'm... Not exactly used to this..."

Chase nodded. "Yeah. But it's also a nice change of pace for us." Kari sighed and held her knapsack close to her chest, keeping everything safe. Kari glanced down in thought.

"... Chase, I... I hope the others are okay." She mumbled in a low tone so only Chase could hear. "... I kinda wish I could see Zoro get beaten to a pulp..." She thought to herself with an internal smirk. Chase sighed then huffed.

"They'll be fine. We just need to be careful for now. We will help them soon, just not now." Kari frowned then nodded slowly. "Let's get some stuff for them, ok?" Chase said. "I'm sure they'd like it for their safe return."

"... How do you know they'll be safe?" Kari asked, holding back a bit of anger. Chase shrugged.

"A dragon just knows. We should believe in them, ok?" The dragon smiled and the girl nodded, giving a childish grin. The two soon decided to head back to Conis's place to hang out since they had nothing better to do and no place else to stay at the time.

"Hey Mrs. Conis, Mr. Pagaya! We're back!" Kari called then plopped on the couch with a sigh. Chase curled on the floor near Kari. Pagaya soon walked from the kitchen and smiled.

"Welcome back Lady Kari, Sir Chase." He greeted.

"Don't call us that." Kari and Chase spoke in unison. Pagaya tilted his head out of confusion. Kari grinned.

"Just Kari, okay?"

"Just Chase for me please." Pagaya chuckled and nodded happily.

"Alright then. Well, I made you guys a snack for when you returned. I figured you would be hungry when you got back so please, eat up." He informed then brought out some snacks that were made mainly of seafood and veggies. Kari stuffed her cheeks full of seafood happily.

"Thanks! Hey, where's Conis?" She asked. The room fell silent and Pagaya sat down and began to tremble.

"I... I don't know..." Kari felt a cool wave wash over her. Kari gulped and began to think of the past as she saw Pagaya's fear that spread deep to his core.

Kari's thoughts drifted wildly. She thought of how she, Chase, and their dad would always go fishing and hunting for food together. Sometimes their mom would join in if she had nothing else to do. She thought of the times when she would train with her dad on uneventful days, which was pretty often. Kari swallowed a bite of food then sighed then tried to change the subject as Pagaya left the room.

"Chase, you think mom and dad came up here?"

"Most likely. Dad was over five hundred years old when I hatched." Chase informed. The girl slouched a bit. Chase nudged her with his snout. The two exchanged a smile then continued to eat.

A ways away, the person in the masked man that attacked the Straw hat crew arrived in a hidden village. He took off his mask and grumbled. He was a tall, muscular man with a pair of little wings on his back. He was covered by various tribal tattoos across his left shoulder and the left side of his face that were black in color. He had very long dark brown hair that was arranged in a mohawk that followed into a segmented braid that went slightly past his waist, and he had little spherical earrings. He was shirtless, and also shoeless after taking off the Skate-type Wavers in battle. He wore a grass skirt, with a rope belt decorated by three small ornaments that look like fangs or claws around his waist. Everyone in the hidden village greeted him happily as he walked by.

He walked to a hut where other villagers resided. They were warriors.

"Hey, Wyper!" A muscular, dark-skinned man with a Mohawk hairstyle and a pair of big, round sunglasses with red lenses and white frame asked. He also had two big and colored earrings hanging from his ears. On his back he has a pair of wings. He also wore a grass skirt, similar to the ones worn by his companions, but with a red and green elaborate belt around the waist. He also had on a light red fur vest and a necklace that seems to be made of some animal's claws or teeth.

Wyper nodded. "Hey, Kamakiri."

Soon a tall, black-haired woman, with two large bangs parted to either side of her face on the front, and a long and elaborate ponytail on the back walked in. She had dark green eyes, and her lips were apparently covered with pink lipstick. She also had two small wings on her back. Her outfit consisted of a light purple cleavage revealing tunic with a darker pattern that exposed her stomach, and light-red pants, that are open on the inside of her legs. "Hello everyone." She greeted with a wave.

"Hi Laki." Everyone replied then looked to Wyper.

"So, any news?" Kamakiri asked. Wyper sighed then leaned against the wall with his arms crossed.

"Yeah. I attacked a ship not too long ago. On board was a dragon." He said with a huff. Everyone gasped in shock.

"I thought they were nothing but a legend."

"I guess not."

Wyper spoke again after a moment of silence. "If we get the dragon on our side then we can get back what was once ours." He said and everyone agreed while mumbling amongst themselves. "Then we have our plan. Get the dragon and fight. Any questions?"

"Nope."

"Good, then let's get going. For Shandora!" The warriors of Shandora decided on a plan of action then left the hidden village and rushed towards the beach on Skypiea.

Kari and Chase were a ways away from Conis's and Pagaya's house. They were back on the beach, playing together happily while Conis's adorable cloud fox, Su, was lounging nearby and Pagaya with Su. Kari was giggling and rushing through the sea clouds happily, being sure to stay close to the shore, just deep enough so a little above her ankles were submerged. Chase stayed in a tree nearby, watching Kari. The dragon lifted his head with a chuckle.

"I thought you hated water!" He called.

"It's not water though! It's like clouds!" Kari replied with a giggle. "Come aboard and bring alooong! All your hopes and dreams! Dun-nuh! Nuh-nuh! Together we can find the great thing we're lookin foooor!" Kari sang happily. Chase laughed happily.

"Did you just make that up?" He called and Kari nodded.

"Yeh! Ya like it?" She asked. Chase just nodded in response then went back to relaxing.

"... She's such a kid... I don't blame her though. ... I've seen what she's doing though." Chase sighed at his thoughts and began to feel a bitterness in his core. "I hope they're alright. From what I've heard these priest guys are really strong..." Chase gulped then shook it off. "I should just do what Kari's doing. Smile and laugh it away. She's still not very good at hiding it though..."

Not too long later the group heard an odd whirring sound. It was coming from the sea and getting closer. Chase stood up and rushed to Kari's side while Pagaya stayed where he was, keeping a close eye on the situation. Kari looked to the distance with curious eyes. She soon gasped upon seeing people skating on the sea clouds, like the white berets were doing with the clouds from the milky arrows. Kari was not sure how to react. The dragon and the girl took a few steps back and waited to see how things played out.

Soon a few masked beings landed on shore. They looked at Chase then the one leading them approached the dragon.

"So, you're a dragon, huh?" He stated. Chase and Kari nodded in unison. "Both of you? Well, whatever. We've come here to ask of your assistance." Chase growled.

"What of it? We don't---" Chase stopped his sentence then looked to Kari, who nodded.

"That scent..." They whispered in unison.

"You're the guy who attacked us on the Merry Go!" Kari bellowed in anger. "Why would we help you so willingly?! You could've killed us ya know!" Kari's rage began to build at the thought of the Merry Go being blown to bits and pieces along with her and the crew. Pagaya gasped and hid in the shadows.

"What are Shandorians doing on Angel beach?!" He thought in a panic.

"... That's true. But I did not know a dragon was on board. And from the looks of it you're a dragon-raised-child, correct?" Kari hesitantly nodded. The man huffed. "My name is Wyper. We can't stay here long so you either come with us willingly or we drag you." Kari glanced to Chase. The two glanced over the few there.

"... Dragon technique," Kari and Chase murmured under their breath. "Aura sense." The two looked over the group, their pupils like slits with a glowing golden ring around the slits. They sighed as their eyes went back to normal.

Kari nodded. "We'll go. Lead the way." She said then turned to where Pagaya was and spoke. "Hey, we'll be fine." She said then suddenly a milky arrow whizzed past Kari's left cheek and lodged into the ground. More arrows whizzed past the shocked girl then White Berets began to skate on the paths.

"Danm it! Hurry up! Move it!" Wyper called and everyone began to retreat, Kari following.

"STOP!" One of the White Berets called, preparing to stab one of the warriors present. Kari growled.

"Dragon technique!" Kari called. "Electric scales! Zap step!" Kari's whole body electric blue scales that acted like a second skin and were hardly noticed as scales, with eight bright gold lightning bolt shaped scales to the sides of her ankles and wrists ripping through the bandages that were around her feet on her ankles and the bandages on her right wrist and her pupils became angry slits. She became a blur for a moment then reappeared between the sword and the warrior. "Dragon technique! Metal scales! Iron defence!" Kari's skin began to change again, into metallic steel colored scales with shiny navy blue zig zagging lines on her arms and legs that were similar to the last kind of scales just different in color. She took the hit and the sword that the White Beret had broke in two. The White Beret gasped and staggered back. Chase rushed to Kari's side and she got on his back while reverting back to her usual appearance.

"Let's go!" Chase called and everyone fled quickly. Kari turned around in her seat so she could watch Angel Beach. She hummed then looked down to Chase then turned back to facing forward.

"You think that this is ok?" She asked the dragon. Chase nodded.

"Yeah. I'm sure of it. Now we'll get to know the other side of the story. Remember what Pagaya said before we left for Angel Beach? The Skypieans and Shandorians are at war. They've been at war for more than a hundred years. If that is true then there are two sides to a story here. I'm curious as to what the sides are so let's investigate. Though, it might not be too different." Kari chuckled.

"True. This is kinda what mom would do, ya know. She would always talk to both of us when we got into a fight." Kari giggled and Chase nodded.

"It's a good thing to practice. It helps with making the right decision in tough situations." The dragon smiled at Kari.

Soon the group was in the hidden Shandorian Village. Everyone stared at Kari and Chase as they followed Wyper and his group.

"Hey, you two." Wyper pointed to Kari and Chase.

"My name's Kari. And my brother is named Chase."

"Whatever. Get ready for battle. We'll be leaving in an hour." He said with a huff. Kari gulped.

"Hey," Someone put a hand on Kari's left shoulder. The child looked up. "I'm Laki."

"Uh, hi." Kari stammered.

Laki smiled lightly. "Don't worry about him, he just wants to get our home back." Kari blinked. "Well, thank you for joining us, it was difficult to get to Angel beach... You said that you met Wyper before, right?" Kari nodded.

"Yeah, he attacked me and my friends while we were going to Angel island, but he wore a mask that time. My friends are in upper yard right now regrouping." Kari stated with a sigh. Laki blinked then sighed.

"Well, looks like you'll be seeing them soon. That is where we are going to battle." Kari went wide eyed then nodded.

"We'll go get ready." She said then began to walk off but then remembered something. "Oh, hey, what are those boards and skates you were on?" Kari smiled.

"Huh? Oh the ones we were riding on. Well the skis are "jet skis" and the boards are "jet boards." They are equipped with jet dials and help us travel quickly on any terrain." Kari gasped in awe. "I, uh, have some spares if you would like some."

"Really?!" Kari asked happily. Laki nodded happily then led the girl and dragon to her home. The two waited outside while Laki went inside.

Not too long later Laki came out of her home holding a pair of jet skis and a jet board. Kari gasped happily and jumped for joy. "Here you go." Laki said. "Just keep them, they're too small for me now so I had to get new ones." Kari happily took the two. She put the skis on her feet.

"They kinda look like ice skates..." Kari murmured. Chase nodded.

"Ice skates?" Laki asked and Kari rubbed the back of her head.

"Oh, heh. I'm not entirely sure how they're used since I never saw them in use, but I did see someone sell an old pair off to some guy heading to an island that gets covered in ice." Kari smiled. "I think it allows you to skate on ice, like the name states."

"Ice?"

"It's basically really cold water. So cold that it becomes hard enough to walk on." Chase huffed and Laki nodded. "The jet board kinda looks like a snowboard." Chase hummed. "Well, we should be getting ready. Thank you, Laki." With that the two began to train for a bit, not very hard to conserve energy but just enough to gain something. After a while the two began walking around then noticed an odd relic with familiar writing. The relic was an ancient stone slab. Kari fixed her bandages on her right arm, the ones on her feet already fixed, while looking at the relic. She wanted to hold it but feared that it might offend the Shandorians so she left it where it was and kept walking. Not long after that the Shandorians, Chase, and Kari began heading to upper yard to battle. Kari decided to use her new jet board while Chase flew nearby.
