Okay so I'm using the anime design for the One Piece characters to an extent, like Robin having blue eyes rather than brown. I just think it looks better sometimes. I will only be going off of events that happened in the manga for now and I may include some of the anime, but not much. I'm also starting this towards the end of the Jaya arc so I'll be kinda retelling it to an extent so bear with me cuz it might get boring and/or quick. I'm changing up a few things here and there so yeah, it won't be super accurate and all, sorry about that. Well, anyways enjoy!

It was a usual warm day in Mock Town. The sun was shining, the pirates were drinking their booze, and the wind blew through the trees on the more wooded side of Jaya island. In the port of Mock town a new pirate ship pulled in and dropped anchor.

"Okay! First priority, meat!" Called a boy in a straw hat. Other than that he wore a pair of short, blue trousers with lighter blue almost white cuffs, sandals, and a sleeveless red vest with yellow buttons. He had a surprisingly well-built physique, despite appearing to be scrawny underneath his shirt. He had a scar with two stitches underneath his left eye and short, messy black hair. He chuckled with a wide grin until a slim young woman of average height, with orange hair and light brown eyes walked next to him and pinched his cheek and pulled it far, as if he were rubber.

The woman wore a blue and white horizontally striped shirt with a short yellow skirt and light brown short boots. "Don't spend all our money on just meat!" She grumbled. "We need a bunch of other supplies too." That was when a small reindeer with a blue nose walked up on his hind legs. The reindeer wore a large pale red/pink fuzzy top hat with an "x" like shape on it and a pair of maroon shorts. He also wore a blue backpack that has the same "x" as his hat.

"I need some more medical equipment too. Maybe a new book or two." He said with a smile.

"We also need ingredients. Luffy nearly ate everything again." Said a slim, yet muscular, long-legged young man with blond hair, which was brushed over one side of his face. He had a weird eyebrow that curled at one end, his right eyebrow formed a spiral at the outer end. He wore a black, double-breasted suit with a tie and a long-sleeved, buttoned shirt that was turquoise. He glared slightly at Luffy, who just chuckled childishly in reply. "I think you should stay here."

"Same here. If he's on the ship he can't get into trouble." The orange haired woman stated. Then a tall, slender, yet athletic woman with shoulder-length black hair walked up. She had light blue eyes and long, thin and defined nose. She wore a long sleeved black leather top with dark blue leggings and black heeled shoes. "Robin, what do you think?"

"I'll be staying out of this, if you don't mind Nami." She chuckled lightly while crossing her arms. Soon a slim boy raced up. He had medium-length black woolly hair and a long nose. He wore an olive green plaid bandanna, a blue and white striped armband on his left arm, along with special sniper goggles and brown overalls with a white sash and no shirt underneath. He also had on a yellow satchel.

"Who'll watch him though?!"

"You will, Usopp." Everyone else said except for a muscular man with cropped green hair. He had three swords on his right hip, bundled in a green haramaki. On his left earlobe he had three identical gold earrings and a black bandana tied around his left bicep. His chest was a little bit revealed to show part of a massive scar that went from his left shoulder to his right hip. He wore black trousers that were tucked inside his black boots, and a plain white shirt with three undone buttons at the collar and his green haramaki. He was leaning against the side of the boat with his eyes closed, his legs crossed and his arms behind his head, obviously sleeping.

"Aw, but I don't wanna stay on the ship with Usopp!" Luffy whined. Usopp looked at Luffy with a hurt expression. The green haired man snorted and woke up.

"Huh? Oh, you're awake, Zoro." Nami huffed. Zoro blinked in a daze then yawned and stood up.

"So, what's the plan?" He asked while stretching.

"Well, You, Chopper and Sanji will be going shopping for supplies while Robin and I will be gathering information. Usopp and Luffy will stay here and guard the Merry Go." Nami informed and everyone nodded then went out. Luffy grumbled as he stayed on the ship with Usopp.

At the edge of Mock town where the town and forest divide, a shadow rushed around from tree to tree and into the deepest part of the forest. It entered into a cave on the far end of the island slowly. It was a dragon with midnight black scales and silver horns that grow diagonally and curl a bit at the tip. He had oval-petal shaped ears were about half the size of his horns, similarly shaped tail fins and bat-like wings. He had retractable claws and incredibly sharp teeth that were average sized. He had two thin silver diamond shapes on his head, one above each eye. His eyes were a shimmering gold color and shaped similarly to almonds. On his snout was a medium sized scar and around his neck was a string collar with a wolf fang tied to it.

"Kari, I'm home." He called happily, wagging his nearly five foot long tail. In that cave was a girl, lying on a blue mat and covered in a few blankets and a moist rag on her forehead. She was wearing a silver ninja scarf that was longer than her so it dragged on the ground when she walked. She also wore a black and gold horizontally striped tank top and shorts. Around her right arm were white bandages that went from her fingertips to her throat under her scarf.

The girl's skin was pale from sickness and she was shivering but at the same time she was sweating. Her eyes were closed and she was breathing weakly through her mouth. The child moaned and opened her eyes slowly then smiled weakly upon seeing the talking dragon.

"... hiya, chase..." Kari gave a breathy giggle. Chase smiled bitterly then approached the girl. He smoothed out her pure white hair, keeping it out of her blood red cat-like eyes. Her hair used to have a nice shine in the sun or moon light. Now the girl's slightly lower than shoulders in length hair was dull and shinless. She had two longer bangs that were a bit below her chin length and were tied up in silver ribbon. Her eyes usually shimmered like rubies but they have not shimmered for days, because she was so ill.

Chase then took the rag in his mouth then dipped it in a pail of cool water. As Chase moved the rag from Kari's forehead, a silver waning crescent moon symbol shined on her forehead. She had similar symbols on her back, torso, tops and bottoms of her feet, and backs and palms of her hands. He then rung it out and put it back on her forehead. He then nudged the scar across the midsection of her nose, which matched the one on his snout.

"I... Didn't find any food. I'll go back to search later. I saw a new ship drop anchor, so I'll hopefully find something." He informed the girl. Kari nodded and yawned.

"okay... i hope you find a lot... of food..." Kari said then closed her eyes as she began to feel weak once more, falling asleep. Chase then set out once again to find food. The dragon grabbed his dark brown bag with silver diamond shaped clasps, folded his wings, laid the bag on his back so the bag parts were on his sides, snapped it on and raced back into Mock town, keeping hidden as he neared the Merry Go quickly, sniffing the air as he ran.

"Siiiiize-siiiiize! Full body: proportionate! Shrink!" Chase said in a male voice. He shrank, along with his collar and bag, upon getting closer to the ship. Once he was next to the ship he forced his way in through a crack, and began to climb towards the smell of food.

Back on the Merry Go, Luffy was in the kitchen raiding the fridge while Usopp watched for any suspicious characters. Not too long later Luffy walked out of the kitchen with a wide smile as he carried two pieces of meat. "Hey, Usopp!" He called with a giddy laugh. "How about a lunch break?"

"Luffy, Sanji'll kill us if he found out." Usopp warned, seeing the captain of the ship with the last two pieces of meat. Luffy just laughed and stretched his arm towards Usopp, offering him some meat. Usopp sighed then took the meat by the bone then walked over to the boy and sat next to him. "... Well, we're so dead." Usopp sighed bitterly.

"Meh, it won't be that bad." Luffy shrugged with a wide grin. As the two dove in for their first bite they heard a squeaky voice.

"Siiiiize-siiiiize! Full body: proportionate! Grow!" It called and they began to bite down a black blur zoomed in front of them and in an instant the meat was gone. Luffy blinked a few times in shock while Usopp was in a daze from biting down to hard, hurting his teeth. They heard a growl and looked ahead of themselves to see a big pure black lizard with the meat in his mouth. Luffy gasped.

"GIANT LIZARD!!" He called, ignoring the fact that he had the meat.

"THAT'S ALL YOU CARE ABOUT?!" Usopp yelled in annoyance. The lizard then put the meat in his bag, hopped off the ship, and raced into the forest. "WAIT! GET BACK HERE!" Usopp was the first off the ship, Luffy quickly following while laughing. The two chased the lizard towards the forest and near a cave. They stayed hidden in the bushes and watched its every move. The lizard went in the cave and let out a low roar.

"Kari, I'm home. How a--- KARI?!!!" There was coughing and the sound of a person dry heaving. Not too long later there were a few frantic thuds. Luffy went wide eyed and walked towards the den to investigate.

"Luffy!" Usopp grumbled in a low tone, reaching to stop the captain. Luffy just kept going towards the cave. There he saw a girl on the ground, dry heaving and the giant lizard comforting her. It was kinda sad. Luffy frowned then took a deep breath then approached the two.

"Hey." He greeted. The lizard swiftly turned around and growled at Luffy, staying in front of the sick girl. "I'm Monkey. D. Luffy. Nice to meet you." He smiled. The lizard kept growling. "I came here because you stole some meat from me and my friend." The lizard glared. "But you need it more than us, so you can keep it." Luffy chuckled and rubbed the back of his head then sat down. The lizard slowly sat down, eyeing Luffy. "So, what's wrong with her?" Luffy asked, pointing the the girl, who was now passed out. The lizard tucked the girl back in and looked to Luffy.

"She's sick... I'm... Not sure what it is, honestly." Luffy went wide eyed.

"YOU WERE THE ONE TALKING?!"

"YES I WAS, NOW HUSH! YOU'LL WAKE HER UP!!"

"Oh... Sorry. Uh, anyways. I have a doctor on my crew, we could stay on the island for a while and help her get better." Luffy suggested happily.

The lizard growled, showing his deadly fangs. "How can I trust you?" He asked. Luffy blinked and held his chin as if he had a beard, looking up in thought.

"Hmmm... Good point." He said then closed his eyes and hunching his back a bit, keeping his hand on his chin. Then Luffy got a wild idea. "I know! If we don't do it then you have every right to beat me to a pulp! No resistance!" Luffy chuckled then felt something hit his head.

"YOU IDIOT!" Usopp's voice echoed. Luffy looked back.

"Hey, Usopp! Come and meet--- Uh, what's your name again Mr. Lizard?" The lizard chuckled and sighed.

"I'm not a lizard. I'm Chase," He said and spread his wings. "Chase the dragon." Luffy gasped in awe and widened his eyes. "I'd expect such a reaction from a human. Dragons have stayed hidden from humans for millions and millions of years. Only ten remember what it was like to live among you and why dragons fled. Well, to my understanding. Regardless, if what you say is true then I'll let you help my sister. If you don't stick to your word on helping, I'll hunt you down."

"Really?! Cool!"

"THAT'S KINDA EXTREME!" Usopp yelled from the bushes. Chase glared in Usopp's direction.

"Dragons take things like this very seriously." He bellowed. Usopp gulped then nodded slowly, understanding what was going on.

"Uh, I'll go get Chopper, okay Luffy." He said. Luffy looked over his shoulder to Usopp and nodded.

"Kay, I'll stay here. Tell the others too." Luffy said and Usopp raced into town as quickly as possible. Luffy chuckled then looked at Chase with a wide smile. "So, is there anything I can help you with?" He asked kindly and Chase looked at Luffy dead center in the eyes. He then sighed and shook his head.

"No, not at the moment. Thank you though." Chase said and Luffy shrugged.

"Okay then. I'll go sit out front for the others. Hey, while you wait, how about you think about joining my crew." Luffy invited happily.

"I go no where without my little sister." Chase replied, looking at the girl that was passed out.

"She's your sister?!"

"Yes. My parents took her in and so she is my little sister by adoption." Chase informed with a sigh.

Luffy stood up and stretched. "Well, she can join too. What's her name."

"Her name's Kari... I'll think about your offer." Chase replied and Luffy giggled happily then sat outside.

"Lemme know if you need any help." Luffy stated then leaned again the rim of the cave entrance.

In Mock Town, Usopp ran around looking for the other crew members. Soon he saw familiar green hair and skid to a stop. "ZORO!"

"Huh? Usopp? Shouldn't you be watching the ship and Luffy?" The swordsman asked. Usopp caught his breath then gulped.

"I-I know! But something happened! A dragon stole the last of our meat and we chased it only to find a sick girl! Where's Chopper?" Zoro blinked then shrugged.

"I dunno. Sanji and I started to argue and Chopper went on his own. Somehow Sanji and I got separated not too long later..."

"Somehow that doesn't surprise me..." Usopp thought. The sharp shooter sighed.

"Well, uh, head to the forested area of the island. Luffy should be there." Usopp informed then ran off, getting a bad feeling that Zoro would go the wrong way, but he did not have time to escort the swordsman at the moment. Zoro shrugged and walked in the opposite direction of the forest, soon coming across Sanji who was told the same story by Usopp. The two walked to the forested area together, telling Nami and Robin upon seeing them not too long later but the girls kept shopping for the time being. They said that they would head that way later.

Eventually Usopp found Chopper, looking at the medical herbs a stall had to offer. Usopp rushed to the humanoid reindeer and informed him of the situation and led the way towards the cave. There they saw Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Chase, and Kari in the den. Chase's ear twitched upon hearing Usopp and Chopper approaching the den. He turned from facing Kari and blinked.

"A raccoon doctor?" Chase asked, tilting his head slightly.

"I'M A REINDEER!" Chopper yelled in anger. "SEE THE ANTLERS?!" "Oh, sorry. Uh, where's the patient, Mr. Lizard?" He asked. Chase gestured his tail to Kari.

"I'm a dragon." Chase stated with a sigh. Chopper nodded and approached Kari to inspect her condition. He hummed in thought while looking at the signs she was showing. After a while of nothing but silence Chopper sighed.

"It's nothing too serious. It's just the common cold and could lead to type A flu. It's easily treatable with rest and medicine as well as proper eating. I have the ingredients to make the medicine back on the Merry Go but I still wanna make sure there is nothing else." Chopper looked to Zoro then glanced to Luffy. He hummed then looked to Usopp and Sanji.

"Hey guys. We finally finished our shopping." A voice called and moments later Nami and Robin walked in with a bunch of bags. Chopper smiled.

"Good, you're here. I need you to get my medical supplies from the ship." Chopper took out a pad of paper and a pen from his bag and began to write down the things he needed. "I need these ingredients and these items." The reindeer smiled. Nami and Robin shrugged then nodded.

"Alright. We were gonna head to the ship anyways to drop off our stuff. We'll pick up these things I guess." With that said Nami and Robin walked off back to the Merry Go as they were told while Chopper kept inspecting Kari's condition.
