It was the middle of the night. Midoriya knew he wasn't supposed to be out this late, and he should be asleep in his nest right now.

He also knew that public quirk usage wasn't really legal, and he shouldn't be flying around the city without supervision from Auntie Ryu. There was a reason why he was doing it in his more human form, after all, rather than releasing his dragon form. He was incredibly large in that form, and it would be much more likely for someone to notice it then.

He should not, by any means, be flying around the city in the middle of the night. It was dangerous (both because of villains and the darkness), it could mess with his sleep schedule, and it was illegal. None of which were good.

However, his anxiety about school had been keeping him awake, and apart from hero analysis and affection from either Inko or Auntie Ryu, flying was one of the best ways for him to make himself feel better.

So, here he was, soaring through the air in the starlight.

The stars felt so close like this, but at the same time so very far away. Same with the moon.

There was a more dragon-like part of him that wanted to try to fly all the way up to the shining stars, maybe pluck a few out of the sky to add to his hoard.

This was one of the very rare times he didn't follow through with his dragon insticts. He knew he couldn't do that. He would die long before he managed to reach them, and if he somehow didn't, the heat from being that close to a star would certianly kill him. On the impossible chance that neither of those happened, the stars were too big for him too bring back to his hoard.

Even so, there was something magical feeling about it.

The night, while still busy, was far quieter than it was in the day time. More peaceful, too. The light from the stars and the city below him were so very pretty, and his dragon instincts wanted to take the lights back to his hoard. That, combined with the already amazing feeling of flying, easily melted away all of his worries and most of his other thoughts, leaving him as mostly just a dragon.

There was a little bit of his human side left in control, mostly just enough to keep him from trying to steal the stars or city lights, and keep him in his human form.

And then he heard a scream of "VILLAIN!" from down below him, which, instead of taking his human mind out of it's blissful state, made his dragon side frantic enough to take full control over him.

Normally, he probably wouldn't mind that, but he had been destructive enough when he lost control over his quirk under the control of his mostly human side.

Now, though? Now, he was a frantic, terrified dragon that no one could subdue without injuring him.

Several things happened once his dragon mind took hold. Firstly, he transformed into his full-on dragon form.

That caused the panicked screams and shouts from the civilians below him to double, because apparently, even though people already knew that he was harmless thanks to dozens of incidents of him turning into a dragon by accident, people still wanted to assume that he was a villain.

(The human part of him reasoned that it was dark out, and they probably couldn't tell who he was. The dragon part of him just wanted the screaming to stop).

The screams caused for his dragon mind to roar in fear, though they just saw it as a threat.

People began running around, trying to get away from him.

All the while his human mind tried to wrangle his dragon mind back under control.

Heroes started to show up, mostly just evacuating the scared civilians and trying to get the crowd to calm down. They seemed hesitant to attack him, whether it was because he hadn't actually attacked yet or because they felt that there quirks weren't the right match for the job, he wasn't sure.

Apparently, his dragon mind took as much comfort in the presence of heroes as his human mind did, because between that and the fact that the screaming had stopped, he landed on the floor, grumbling with delight.

The heroes seemed to take his grumbles as a threat, though, because they attacked him with their quirks. They weren't very powerful heroes, but Midoriya's scales weren't very tough just yet, so the birage of quirk based attacks hurt.

A pained roar escaped from him, along with a flurry of sparks. Oh god now was not a good time to be discovering a new aspect of his quirk..

The sparks grew into flames, and soon enough he was breathing fire at the heroes, causing them to back up far enough that they wouldn't get burned.

He managed to reign in the fire, as well as his dragon side, quickly shifting back to his human form.

"Sorry!! I'm sorry!! I didn't mean to scare anybody or hurt anybody I'm really really sorry I don't even know how I was breathing fire and-" Izuku rambled, only to be cut off by one of the heroes.

"Oh shit, that's Ryuukyuu's nephew isn't he?"
