The guards unchained us one by one. I staggering ran to my brothers, almost tripping on nothing a few times. Kalinth and Alron both pulled me into a protective hug. I felt my ribs being crushed by them. We just stood there in silence. Our breathing in sync as one. I couldn't imagine what hell they went through whenever they got captured. Footsteps were approaching. I could already tell who was behind me. "Well, it seems that your powers are activated when your emotions are at its peak. Interesting because that's not supposed to be the case for someone like you." Alyziran said. I turned around and clenched my jaw. "What the hell did you want to prove?! Threatening to burn my loved ones alive!". Kalinth and Alron had both their hands on my forearms, either to hold me back or to make sure they don't steal me like last time. "I have to agree with her, Alyziran. What you did was a bit excessive and completely uncalled for" a male said. A shiver went down my spine. I could feel the bitter coldness coming off him. An ice rider. I payed no attention to him whatsoever. "To prove that we found the fifth descendent" he continued. "If that is the case, you know what happens next. We must be preparing". "No" Kalinth said, pulling me behind him. A protective movement. "She will not be apart of this. She will not be apart of what killed our parents. I spent my entire life keeping her hidden from this path." he told them, he continued talking "It was a mistake taking her to the festival". "Ahh so you knew what you guys are" Alyziran said, amusement on his face.
Alyziran turned around and motioned us to follow. I exchanged looks with Kalinin and Alton. It was Alton who nodded for us to go. Kalinin looked like he was about ready to kill Alyziran. We hesitantly followed but keeping our distance from Alyziran and the ice rider. "What do you mean you kept me hidden from this?! How could you not tell me the truth!" I started to whispering at my brother. "It wasn't his fault sunshine. Your father made us swear it. It was his dying breath." Alron said. I whipped my head towards Alron, "Oh no, you knew and didn't tell me. To hell with the both of you". I remained silent the rest of the way to wherever Alyziran was taking us. I noticed we were waking through the forest and then we entered a cave. Alyziran lit a torch. "This is a secret entrance to the castle of Kaldon. And before you ask, no, there is no Kingdom or King and Queen. Long ago our ancestors made up a so called kingdom with walls surrounding the area. They wanted to keep the secret hidden. After the war was won, we needed to be hidden and forgotten". As we continued walking, I felt eyes on me. Not from anyone in here. It was like it was protecting me. "You feel it Zalea?" Alyziran asked. I looked at him, "Feel what?". He smiled at me, "Your dragon calling to you. Watching you. Begging you to set it free". I let out a small chuckled, but on the inside I was terrified. "Could we not do this? I told you Zalea will not be pulled into this" Kalinth said. "That is up to Zalea to decide" the ice rider said. I forgot he was with us. He had been so quiet and the coldness from the cave could just be because of the cave or from him.
We reached a gate. "If you pass through these gates, there is no turning back. You will be hunted your entire life by a King who's name is long forgotten. If you pass through these gates, you will also be protected and safe" Alyziran warned us, no, he was warning me. I took a deep breath. I turned on my heel and looked at Kalinth and Alron, "Will you do this with me?". "Of course" Alron said. I looked at Kalinth with pleading eyes. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "What choice do we have?". "Then it is settled. Welcome to Kaldon".
The gate opened and a gust of warm wind met my body. Suddenly, I felt lighter. Like I found where I belong.
