They jumped down to stage three and found themselves in a similar room as before. This would be the last stage before they could face Babidi and finally be finished with this. "You would think he would change up the rooms." Gohan said as he examined the room.

"Hmph. I have a feeling this is going to take awhile." Vegeta said impatiently.

"Look, for stage three you guys should all fight together!" Shin urged.

"Pass." Mae said crossing her arms. "There's no fun in that."

"Fun?!" Shin snapped. "This isn't supposed to be fun!"

Mae shrugged her shoulders and Goku said, "Gohan can fight on his own."

"Yea I should be able to handle this." Gohan said his eyes full of confidence.

"Besides it wouldn't be fair." Goku said.

"What do you mean?" Shin asked.

"Well Vegeta and I got to fight on our own. It's only fair that Gohan does too." Goku chuckled.

"Wait!" Mae said suddenly. "If this is the last stage does that mean I get to fight Babidi?"

"Oh I hadn't even thought about that!" Goku exclaimed.

"It's doubtful. I imagine Dabura will be protecting him." Shin sighed.

"Hmm well I guess that will be a decent fight." Mae said.

"I can't believe you actually want to fight the demon king!" Shin was becoming more frustrated with her.

"Hey I haven't gotten to fight all day!" Mae snapped back. "I didn't come here just to stand around!"

Shin shrunk back and they began to wait. Time passed and still no one had come through the door. Mae was starting to grow bored and Vegeta was becoming irritated. "This is a waste of time!" Vegeta finally snapped. "I'll just blast open that door!"

"Vegeta no!" Shin said. "This is the last stage. We just need to wait a little longer."

Mae shrugged and Vegeta backed off. "Fine."

More time passed and Gohan started to stretch for his fight. "It's been a while now hasn't it." He said as he brought an arm across his chest.

Mae and Goku were sitting on the ground both of them bored. "You know I can't wait to see you fight, Gohan." Goku said. "You were a little kid when you fought Cell. I bet you are twice as strong now."

"He's not." Mae said flatly.

"Yea Mae is right." Gohan laughed nervously. "I've actually grown weaker since then."

"Gohan seems to put all his time into school and dating instead of training." Vegeta mocked.

"Well at least you are doing good in school." Goku laughed.

"Hey speaking of." Mae said. "Gohan I'm dropping out of high school."

"What why?!" Gohan questioned.

"Because while I was training with Vegeta he pointed out I was slowly getting weak. That's just not acceptable for me. So I'm dropping out and I'm going to dedicate all my time to training." Mae explained.

"Vegeta are you forcing her to?" Gohan asked.

"Of course not. She can do what she wants." Vegeta scoffed. "I merely pointed out she was slacking. I told her that if she didn't make a choice she would end up soft like you."

"Bulma said she would pay off my tuition." Mae said. "Besides I only went to school because you and mom asked me to. Sure if I put my mind to it I can excel but my heart isn't in it. I want to be strong."

"I understand." Gohan nodded. "Have you told mom?"

"No." Mae sighed. "I was going to use the Tournament money as a way to soften her up but I guess that's not happening."

"Hopefully she doesn't flip." Gohan said nervously.

Mae stood up. "Dad, I know that Gohan is the one you've always wanted to succeed and surpass you, but I'm the one who has gotten stronger." She narrowed his eyes at him. "I have been training with Vegeta all this time. I have pushed myself harder than ever and it's not Gohan who will surpass you. It will be me."

"Mae, I..." Goku started to say when the door finally opened.

"Dabura?!" Shin said shocked as the Demon King entered the room.

"I'm impressed that you all have gotten this far." Dabura said. "However you will not go any further. I want you all to attack me."

"No!" Gohan snapped. "This is my turn to fight. Although I do think we should take this fight elsewhere. A ship might be too small."

"Damn I wanted to fight him." Mae pouted.

"Hmph." Vegeta snorted giving her a side smile.

Suddenly they were being transported to a different planet. "I guess your boss had the same idea." Mae grinned at Dabura. They arrived at a planet that felt similar to earth. The sky was a light pink and there were rock formations all around them.

"Gohan, stay focused you can do this." Goku assured his son.

Mae glared at him. 'Of course, he still has high expectations for Gohan. I'll prove to him just how strong I am.'

Gohan made the first move against Dabura. He managed to get a good punch in but before he knew it Dabura was countering. The demon king was proving to be a skilled fighter. Dabura sliced through the air, narrowly missing Gohan's head. As he ducked down he saw the energy pass over him, slicing a rock pillar in half. Dabura continued to slice and Gohan dodged. When he saw an opening Dabura rushed in and slammed Gohan down into the lake below.

"Gohan!" Mae called out. She was becoming uneasy. This should be an easy battle for him, had he really fallen so far?

Suddenly an energy blast shot up catching Dabura off guard as Gohan attacked from above. Dabura crashed into the rocks below. He exploded the rubble and sent it right back at Gohan. Gohan covered himself and braced for the attack. He cried out as it hit and when the smoke cleared he was standing in a golden aura.

"So he's taking things to super saiyan." Goku said crossing his arms.

Gohan's attacks became faster and he smashed Dabura into the ground. It was obvious the Demon King was struggling to keep up. At super saiyan level, Gohan had a good chance of winning. "Dabura show me your full power!" Gohan said.

"Fine." Dabura smirked as he began to power up. When he was finally at his full power he and Gohan raced for each other and they met blow for blow. Dabura jumped back and breathed fire at Gohan causing the rocks to melt. Gohan kept dodging the attacks and then he saw an opening he raced in. His fist went through Dabura. "I've got you!" He said from the side as he blasted Gohan into the water. Dabura walked to the edge of the lake and waited for Gohan to appear.

"This isn't good." Mae gasped.

Gohan sent two energy balls up at Dabura. He smacked them away and right when Gohan came out of the water Dabura sent an energy blast. He knew exactly where Gohan would emerge from. Gohan blocked in time but he still took damage. "Alright I'm ready for round two!" He snapped at Dabura and rushed at him.

"What is Gohan doing?!" Goku asked as he watched the fight. "He should know better than to use direct attacks!"

"This is what happens when you don't train." Vegeta said impatiently. "He's lost his fighting sense!"

"If I had known he had fallen this far I never would have let him fight." Mae said balling her hands into fists.

Dabura spit at Gohan. "Gohan, watch out!" Shin called as it landed on his glove. Gohan quickly removed the glove before his whole hand turned to stone.

"Your power is decreasing. How much longer do you think you can hold out." Dabura mocked.

"Gohan has gotten soft." Vegeta growled. "I could beat Dabura. Even Mae could beat him."

Mae felt a flicker of pride in her chest. She turned her attention back at the fight. Gohan was rushing at Dabura who, for an instant, dropped his guard. As Dabura was knocked backwards he summoned a sword and began attacking Gohan with it. Gohan managed to nearly dodge the blade, a few hairs fell to the ground. Mae looked back to Vegeta who was becoming more and more impatient. She knew it was only a matter of time before he stepped in or sent her in. She looked back to see that Gohan had stopped the blade. He snapped it in half and Dabura backed off.

"That's it!" Vegeta snapped. "I will finish this myself. Don't you see that he's playing with you! I'm here to win and I should be the one fighting."

Suddenly they were back at the ship. Dabura dropped to the ground and headed for the door. "Are you giving up?!" Gohan asked.

"No. This is just a brief break it seems we have found a new recruit who will be able to destroy you all." Dabura grinned as he walked out of the room.

"What does he mean?" Shin asked. "It doesn't make sense. Dabura is their best fighter. There isn't anyone else."

"Gohan." Mae frowned at her brother. "When were you going to tell me."

"What do you mean?" Gohan asked.

"You know what she means." Vegeta snapped. "There is no excuse to how you fought. You have become pathetic."

"I can't believe you went out there to fight knowing how weak you've become." Mae said. "You never should have taken on Dabura. I don't know if it was arrogance or you underestimated your opponent but either way it was a foolish move."

"You know I taught Mae that only the strong survive and that's why she is a true saiyan." Vegeta continued. "It's brute strength not goodness that ensures victory. Your Piccolo and Krillin were weak and they paid the price."

"Vegeta, Mae don't you think you are being harsh?" Goku said trying to defend his son.

"You are just as soft as he is." Vegeta glared. "You have saiyan blood in you and this is how you fight. Well I'm done I'm going to blast this ship apart." He held his hand out and let the energy form.

"Vegeta stop you can't!" Shin rushed in front of him. "If Majin Buu awakens then it will be the end of everything. He will put the earth into a darkness and everything will be destroyed!"

"Like I care." Vegeta brought his hand up to Shin.

"That's enough Vegeta." Goku said stepping in front of Shin. "Look we don't know why Dabura left. Don't you think we should figure that out?"

Vegeta dropped his hand and crossed his arms. "Tch, fine."

"Mae are you mad at me?" Gohan asked quietly.

"I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed, you should have told me." Mae said lowering her eyes.

"They said they had a new recruit but that doesn't make sense, unless." Shin said staring at Vegeta. "No, Vegeta! I think they mean you!"

Suddenly Vegeta grabbed his head and fell to his knees. "Vegeta!" Mae cried as she rushed to him. "What's happening?!"

"Babidi is trying to control him." Shin explained. "Vegeta you must fight it!"

"I can't!" Vegeta cried in agony as he went super saiyan.

"Vegeta please fight it please!" Mae begged. "Vegeta!"

"Vegeta is struggling because his heart is impure. You must forgive yourself of past. You are innocent and you are good!" Shin exclaimed.

"I'm not innocent!" Vegeta cried as he flew up. Red sparks shot out around him.

Mae tried to run to him but she was attacked. "Mae! Are you okay?" Goku asked.

"I'm fine. We need to help Vegeta!" Mae cried in desperation. The entire ship began to shake as Vegeta roared in pain.

"Vegeta you have to fight this!" Goku called.

The sparks stopped and Vegeta finally came down. He was out of breath and slumped over. Mae rushed to him but Shin stopped her. "It's too late. He belongs to Babidi now."

Vegeta straightened and turned to stare Mae in the face. His forehead had an 'M' similar to the ones Babidi's minions had. Mae fell to her knees, "Vegeta no."
