Fly Videl

"Today let's work on seeing how much higher you can float." Gohan said enthusiastically.

"Okay!" Videl nodded as she stood and focused.

Mae laid on the ground already bored. She was missing training with Vegeta to teach this girl how to fly. Goten already had flying down and he was zooming through the sky. "Gohan!" Mae snapped as she jumped up.

"What's up Mae?" Gohan asked.

"Spar with me." Mae put her hands on her hips.

"Are you sure?" Gohan asked he didn't want them going all out in front of Videl.

"Are you afraid I'm going to kick your ass?" Mae grinned.

"Oh now it's on!" Gohan stepped into his fighting position.

Mae brought her hands up and readied herself. She knew that she needed to hold back but at least this was better than nothing. "I hope you are ready Gohan!" She grinned as she launched herself at him.

Videl was floating above the tree line watching the twins fight below her. Mae seemed to be stronger than Gohan but surprisingly, he reacted well against her attacks. She brought a leg up and he blocked it with his forearm.

"Is that the best you've got?" Gohan asked. He had been sparing with Goten but Mae was much more experienced.

"I'm just getting warmed up!" Mae said as she ducked down low then used her powerful legs to bring herself up using her momentum to get in a clean punch on Gohan's face. Since she was shorter than most fighters she was skilled at getting in close and taking opponents down that way.

"Ah!" Gohan cried out as he fell to the ground.

"I win!" Mae declared as she held an energy ball in front of his face.

"Fine I give!" Gohan wiped his face. He looked up and saw Videl staring down at them. "Mae I think we might have gone too far."

"Nah I don't think so." Mae whispered back looking at the girl. "I held back a lot so if you can't handle that you have a lot more training to do."

"Hmph." Gohan snorted before flying up to talk to Videl. Mae sat down on the grass and formed an energy ball and twirled it around hands, bored. Gohan and Videl landed next to her.

"I want to be able to fly like him." Videl said looking to Goten.

"Well now that you can float you can move on to the harder moves." Gohan told her before going up to talk to Goten.

Videl sat down next to Mae. "I think it's time for a break."

"If you say so." Mae said the energy ball still weaving through her fingers.

Gohan landed back down and Videl asked, "what did you tell him?"

"Oh I was just giving him some advice." Gohan stammered. Mae gave him a knowing glance, she figured he told Goten to slow down.

"Oh I see." Videl stretched and Gohan sat down next to them. "Do you think you guys could keep this a secret from my dad?"

"Sure!" Gohan said. "We don't even see your dad so it's not a problem."

"Oh good." Videl sighed. "He'd probably freak if he knew I was here with you, Gohan."

"What about Mae?" Gohan cocked his head.

"Nah he's okay with me hanging out with her." Videl explained. "I told him that I'm training her."

"I'm the one training you." Mae said flatly.

"Yea I know. It was just an excuse to get out of the house." Videl said. "He doesn't let me hang out with boys tho. I know that he would say something like 'you can't date any boy who can't beat me!' Honestly he's too strong for his own good."

"Videl, have you ever sparred with your dad?" Gohan asked.

"Are you kidding? There's no way I could beat him. He saved the entire world!" Videl replied. "He won't even let me watch him train anymore."

"Probably because he knows you are stronger than him." Mae blurted.

"What?" Gohan and Videl said at the same time.

"Videl, you are stronger than you think. I've seen you fight. Also you can fly I bet your dad can't even do that." Mae said.

"You really think so?" Videl asked she couldn't believe Mae said something like that.

"Yes I do." Mae looked her in the eyes.

"Videl, would you freak out if your dad lost?" Gohan asked breaking their eye contact.

"Nah. Honestly I'd like to see him lose." Videl narrowed her eyes. "All this fame has gone to his head and I think someone needs to knock him down a peg."

"Oh I see." Gohan chuckled scratching his head.

"My mom left a few years ago but now that he's famous all he does is go out with these random women." Videl crossed her arms. "I bet they would all leave if they saw him lose." She stood up and stretched her back and Mae and Gohan stood up with her. Mae continued to move the energy ball around her hand although her focus wasn't on that. "So who taught you guys how to fight? I watched you two spar."

"Well for me, someone named Piccolo taught me then later my dad." Gohan said smiling.

"Did this Piccolo person teach you too, Mae?" Videl asked.

"Nah. My teacher is a man named Vegeta. You met him yesterday actually." Mae said. "My dad did teach me a few things but not as much as Gohan."

"How come you guys haven't introduced me to your dad? I mean since he's a great martial artist and all?" Videl's sudden question made Mae lose her energy ball as she balled her hands into fists.

"Well he's not with us anymore." Gohan said giving Mae a soft look. He knew that Goku was a touchy subject for her.

Goten landed back on the ground, "a lady is going to bring him back from the dead!"

"Goten shut it! You aren't supposed to talk about that!" Gohan chastised their brother.

"Oh I think I get it." Videl said putting a finger on her chin. "Your parents are divorced right? Is his new wife bringing him to the tournament?"

"Uhh something like that." Gohan laughed nervously.

"Seems like we both have parental issues." Videl laughed. "Alright let's get back to this!"

They continued teaching Videl how to fly and within 10 short days she was finally able to fly expertly. "Wow Videl you really got the hang of this!" Gohan cheered.

"You've done well." Mae said she wasn't very good at words of encouragement.

"Thanks you guys!" Videl said as she landed back on the ground. "Well I better head home and prepare for the tournament. Ah! I guess I could just fly home!"

"Yep." Gohan and Mae nodded. Videl waved goodbye as she took off flying.

"Goten do you want to train with me?" Gohan asked his brother.

"Yea!" Goten nodded excitedly.

"Cool I'm going to train with Vegeta. Tell mom I won't be home for awhile." Mae said turning her back to them.

"Mae wait. Are you going to be okay?" Gohan asked. "About dad coming back I mean."

"It is what it is." Mae said turning her head to her brother. "Good luck with your training."

"You too." Gohan said as she launched herself into the sky.

When she arrived at Vegeta's he was already waiting for her. "Are you ready?"

"Yes." Mae nodded. She and Vegeta went into the gravity room and sparred until she couldn't move anymore.

More days passed and Mae could feel herself growing stronger. Vegeta was pushing her harder than before. "Is this how you plan on defeating Kakarot?"

"Tch," Mae wiped her mouth powering up to super saiyan.

"You are a fool if you think he hasn't been training." Vegeta said going super saiyan as well.

"You don't think I know that!" Mae yelled as she flung herself at him.

"Mae!" Bulma called out opening the door to the training room, the gravity dropping back to zero.

"What the hell?!" Vegeta and Mae said in unison as they stopped sparring.

"This girl is here to see you." Bulma said as Videl walked into the room.

"You are the Golden Fighter!" Videl said pointing at Mae's now blonde hair.

"Shit." Mae cursed as she dropped back her base form. "What do you want Videl?"

"I wanted to see if you wanted to spar with me." Videl grinned.

"I'm kinda in the middle of something." Mae said impatiently.

"Fine I'll just tell everyone that you are the Golden Fighter." Videl turned shrugging her shoulders.

"Damn it fine." Mae groaned. "Vegeta, be back soon."

"Whatever." Vegeta scoffed. He gave her a look and she knew he would be bringing this up later.

Videl followed Mae outside. "So I need you to not tell Gohan what you saw today." Mae said putting her hands on her hips.

"Fine. Can you teach me how to do that?" Videl asked.

"No I can't." Mae said. "It's called super saiyan and it's not something humans can do."

"You aren't human?" Videl asked surprised.

"Well I'm half human." Mae closed her eyes. "I'm also half saiyan."

"I see so Gohan is also half saiyan?" Videl asked.

"Yes we are twins after all." Mae rolled her eyes. She couldn't believe this happened.

"That Vegeta guy had blonde hair too. Is he one of these saiyans?" Videl crossed her arms.

"Yes." Mae said. "Now let's get this over with so I can go back to training."

"Haha alright." Videl said positioning herself.

"I'm not going to go easy on you." Mae grinned cockily.

Videl smiled and the two girls ran at each other. Their forearms locked together as Videl went in for a punch. Mae used that opening to knee her in the gut. Videl coughed as the air went right out of her. She dropped down and tried to bring Mae down with a low kick. Mae jumped up and brought her own leg down smashing Videl's face into the ground.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Mae asked. The girl was strong but Mae was stronger.

"I didn't expect you to be this strong." Videl got up and wiped her face with her arm. Mae dropped her guard and that's when Videl rushed her and punched her hard in the face bringing the saiyan down. "I got you!"

"Tch," Mae got up the blow didn't hurt nearly as much and what Vegeta usually dished out but she did catch her off guard. "Not bad Videl."

"Well this has been an experience." Videl said. "I think I'm going to head back. Also I won't tell anyone about this super saiyan thing."

"Thanks." Mae said. "I guess I'll see you at the tournament."

"I suppose I will." Videl smiled and left.

Mae went back inside to continue her training. "Alright Vegeta, give me everything you've got!"
