"Hold on Gohan," Krillin said. "We're almost there to Kame House." He saw a bright light from where they came from and turned, "hey look...is that a star?"

"It looks too bright," Gohan said, looking towards the light.

They both had a sudden realization.

"Oh crap! It's like some huge energy just exploded!" Krillin exclaimed.

"It's not my dad's is it?" Gohan asked aloud. "Or it couldn't be Mae either..."

"S-sure...it could be that saiyan's..." Krillin looked nervous. "I'll bet it was only his...just it was so huge..."

"Daddy...Mae..." Gohan said with concern. "I'm going back!"

"What! Gohan, no you can't!" Krillin shook his head.

"Both Mae and Daddy are in trouble! If I don't go then they could die!"

"But what can you do against that saiyan?"

Gohan paused in thought, "I dunno, probably nothing. But, I have to go!" He turned and took off towards the fighting.

"Gohan! Wait!" Krillin called after him. He quickly followed after the boy. "You're crazy... but I guess I am too."

"No!" Goku exclaimed as he watched Vegeta grow. "It can't be! Mae you need to run and hide!"

"I can help!" Mae said, even though she was in shock at the prince's transformation.

There wasn't time for him to argue with his daughter, as Vegeta's transformation was complete.

He let out a mighty laugh, "what do you think of that, Kakarot?!"

"I've heard of apes like you!" Goku shouted. "You killed my grandpa!"

Vegeta laughed, "now that's a good one! A saiyan is most powerful in its ape form! A saiyan that still has its tail!"

Goku thought back to when his grandpa told him about the monster that came out at the full moon. He also remembered when Kami insisted Goku have his tail removed.

"Wait... what are you telling me?" Goku asked. "The monster who appeared at the world martial arts tournament and the one who killed grandpa was me?!" He frowned and looked up at Vegeta. 'Oh grandpa, I'm sorry,' he thought. 'I can't beat this monster and I can't save the earth for you. I'll ask your forgiveness when I see you again.'

"Daddy..." Mae grabbed onto his pants.

"That's right," Goku looked down at her. 'One last energy ball.'

Vegeta punched the earth where the two were. They both dodged, but Vegeta brought his leg up and kicked Goku sending him bouncing along the ground.

"Daddy!" Mae yelled as she ran to help him.

"Not so fast!" Vegeta reached to grab her.

"No!" Goku yelled. "Kaioken!" He powered up and moved to knock Mae out of the way. However he ended up getting smacked by Vegeta's tail. Goku quickly righted himself in the air.

"Don't die yet!" Vegeta yelled as he jumped up. "Not before I can kill you!"

"Damn! I didn't think he could be so fast!" Goku swore. "I don't have time to concentrate! But my only chance is to increase my power. I just need ten seconds." He looked to the ground and yelled. "Mae!"

"Daddy?" Mae looked up at him.

"I need you to cover for me!" Goku yelled.

"Okay!" Mae nodded, ready to help.

Just as Vegeta was about to clamp his jaws around Goku, he brought his hands to his forehead. "Sorry Tien! I'm stealing your move. Solar Flare!"

A bright light came from Goku, blinding Vegeta, giving him a chance to escape. Vegeta cried out in pain as he held his eyes.

"Now, while he's blinded," Goku flew and landed on a rock pillar. "I'll leave the rest to Mae!" He lifted his arms into the air. "Earth, ocean, all living things, please lend me your energy!"

Vegeta's eyesight began to return, "Kakarot, you're dead!" He looked around. "You hurt my eyes!"

"AHHHH!" Mae yelled, attacking Vegeta between his eyes.

Vegeta cried out still in pain from the solar flare. "You little brat!"

Mae attacked him again, trying to keep him distracted for as long as possible.

"Begone!" Vegeta smacked her with his hand, knocking her to the ground.

Mae gasped as the wind was knocked from her body. Pain coursed through her and she was paralyzed from the shock.

"Where are you, Kakarot?!" Vegeta looked around. "You're only prolonging your death!"

'Damn it...Mae!' Goku thought as he continued to gather energy.

Vegeta looked until he finally found Goku. He grinned in anticipation.

'He found me! I just need a little more time!' Goku thought. Suddenly he felt the rest of the energy gather. "I did it! It's done!" He turned to throw the orb at Vegeta.

"DIE!" Vegeta yelled firing a powerful blast from his mouth.

Goku barely managed to dodge the blast but he hit the ground hard. He groaned in pain. "I didn't realize...I didn't realize he was so close...stupid! I was stupid!" He climbed to his feet. "My spirit bomb...my last hope...it's gone."

"I'm surprised Kakarot!" Vegeta laughed. "But you're out of everything else aren't you?"

"I used all my energy to make the sphere," Goku said weakly. "I've got nothing. Nothing at all."

Vegeta stomped over to Goku and lifted his foot. "It's about time!"

He brought his foot down and Goku dodged, however Vegeta smacked him into a rock wall. He collapsed on the ground and Vegeta came, bringing his foot onto Goku's legs.

Goku screamed in pain as they were crushed.

Mae pulled herself out of the rubble, gasping. "No! Daddy!"

"How silly of me! I left you alive!" Vegeta chuckled. He raised a finger, "you better hope my aim is true this time. Better hope you die! Or would you rather watch the earth be destroyed?"

"Sh-shut up, Vegeta," Goku said. "You beat me. You were stronger than me or anyone else thought. But if you think this is something to be proud of, you're wrong. You're gonna pay someday."

Vegeta went to crush Goku with his finger. In a last attempt, Goku fired an energy blast directly into the Prince's eye. Vegeta stepped back, grabbing his face as he cried in pain.

"Just think of it something to remember me by," Goku slumped back. "I can't even move my hands. Now you can do what you want!"

"You little worm!" Vegeta yelled. "You've scarred my face!" He reached down and grabbed Goku. "I'll crush you!"

"Let him go!" Mae yelled. She began to run towards Vegeta but the screams of her father stopped her in her tracks.

"This looks bad..." Yajirobe looked on. "It's over...I'd do something if I could...nothing personal."

"Die!" Vegeta yelled as he continued to crush Goku.

"NO!" Mae flew up to attack Vegeta but she was knocked down by his tail. She could taste the blood when she hit the ground.

"Still trying to fight?" Vegeta asked. "His bones are broken. There's nothing more he or you can do."

"Curse you!" Mae spat.

"We're almost there!" Krillin exclaimed as they came closer to the light. "It looks like a second sun."

"It's daddy!" Gohan said as they neared.

"Gohan! Get down! We have to hide!" Krillin shouted.

"What is that thing?" Gohan asked, staring at Vegeta.

"Now!" Krillin yelled. "It's an ape! The saiyan turned into an ape!"

They both dropped to the ground and hid among the rocks.

"Where's Mae?" Gohan looked.

"Goku's injured," Krillin said. "Come on, this way," he led Gohan behind Vegeta.

"Hey!" Yajirobe jumped in front of Krillin and Gohan. "Do you know what that thing is?!"

"Yeah!" Krillin nodded. "If we cut off his tail he'll turn back."

"His tail?" Gohan asked.

"You two attack him from the front! Get his attention and I'll go after his tail!" Krillin instructed. "Now! Or Goku's dead!"

Both Krillin and Gohan jumped into action leaving Yajirobe standing there scared. "Get his attention? He's insane. Even if he changes back he'll still be stronger than all of us."

"Don't die daddy!" Gohan exclaimed as he ran to face Vegeta.

"Gohan!" Mae was surprised to see her brother.

"Help me save daddy!" Gohan said.

"Okay!" Mae jumped up and followed after him.

"Someone else is here," Vegeta said looking around. "Where are you?!"

"I'm right here!" Gohan yelled as he jumped onto a rock.

"Let go of our dad!" Mae shouted.

"So the little one came to help you," Vegeta chuckled. "I do love family. Watch closely now, you two."

Behind Vegeta, Krillin raised his arm, "destructo disc!"

"Are you ready?" Vegeta put his hand over Goku. "Daddy is going to die. Too bad he's already unconscious."

Krillin threw the disc to try and cut of Vegeta's tail, however he simply jumped over it. The disc went and cut the rock Mae and Gohan were standing on, making them lose their balance.

"Wh-what?!" Krillin exclaimed, startled.

"Did you really think I wouldn't know?!" Vegeta turned his head to him. "I knew you sentimental worms wouldn't let that cowardly boy come on his own."

"No..." Krillin gasped.

"D-daddy..." Gohan stammered.

"After I kill Kakarot you're next," Vegeta grinned. "I told you what would happen if you challenged me."

Krillin was paralyzed with fear, "I have to do something."

"You can't!" Mae tightened her fists.

"Stop it!" Gohan yelled. "Just stop!"

Suddenly Vegeta froze. His tail had been cut by Yajirobe. He gasped as he felt himself begin to change back.

"I didn't expect another..." Vegeta dropped Goku. "M-my tail..." he shrunk back down to his normal size.

"Daddy!" Gohan called out to him.

"His tail! It's gone!" Krillin smiled nervously.

Vegeta looked between the fighters, his anger only rising. "You suicidal fools! Do you know what it means to make me angry?"

"What's happening?" Gohan asked.

"Do you really want to die so much!" Vegeta yelled. "You will!"

Vegeta charged straight for the twins.

"Gohan! Run!" Krillin yelled, but it was too late.

"You'll be the first," Vegeta looked down at Gohan.
Before Mae could process, Vegeta drove his fist into Gohan's stomach.

"What's wrong, boy?" Vegeta asked going to strike him again. "You're half saiyan aren't you?"

Before he could hit, Mae blocked his attack. "Yeah we are half saiyan!"

Krillin flew behind Vegeta, trying to get a hit in, but Vegeta turned and kicked him. Krillin hit several rock pillars before collapsing on the ground.

"Guess he wanted to be first," Vegeta said before punching Mae in the face, bringing her down, next to Gohan. "Get up you two, let's have some fun." He put his foot on Gohan's head.

"Don't touch him," Mae growled as she got to her knees.

Vegeta grinned and grabbed Gohan by his shirt. "What are you going to do about it? If this is you're best it's no wonder Kakarot is your father." He head-butted Gohan, making him bleed.

"At least your blood is red," Vegeta said. He stomped on Mae's back. "I'll show you how kind I can be. I'll let the boy die next to daddy." He tossed Gohan down to where Goku was.

"I-I won't let you!" Mae tried to force herself up.

Vegeta stomped on her again, "at least you seem to be more saiyan than the other brat. Shame you'll die along with them." He kicked her in the ribs a few times before kicking her down to where Gohan was.

"Gohan...Mae..." Goku spoke to them. "Daddy's body is pretty messed up. I can't move anymore. You two will have to fight him for me. He's a lot weaker now."

"Tch, stubborn fool," Vegeta scoffed. "Who'd think he'd still be conscious."

"I-I can't daddy," Gohan groaned.

"He's too strong," Mae added.

"Alright then," Vegeta grinned. "I'll kill Kakarot first. Then Kakarot's brats! Then the bald one! Then finally the coward who cut off my tail!"

"You don't have to win," Goku said. "Just hold him off. I know the two of you have the strength to do that. Then Krillin will finish him off."

"Okay, I'll try," Mae nodded, wincing as she tried to get up.

"I-I can't daddy!" Gohan exclaimed. "It hurts too much."

"Gohan! What are you a coward?!" Goku snapped at him. "Are you gonna let those people die for nothing?! What did Piccolo teach you?!"

Vegeta came down with his knee onto Goku's stomach. He cried in pain as blood spurt from his mouth.

"N-no!" Mae was on her knees, her arms trembling from pain.

"Putting me through this...for what?!" Vegeta questioned as he kicked Goku in the face.

"Stop!" Mae yelled. She got up and tried to punch Vegeta but she was met with a fist to her face.

"Wait your turn brat," Vegeta told her before he began to kick Goku in the ribs.

"Stop it..." Gohan strained. His anger grew as he got to his feet. "I SAID STOP!"

His shout got Vegeta's attention. He turned to look at the boy, his foot still on Goku's face.

"I'll...I'll..." Gohan growled. "I'll kill you!"

"You, will kill me?" Vegeta asked with a smug expression.

Gohan yelled as he unleashed a powerful blast. Vegeta quickly jumped to avoid it. However Gohan jumped up and kicked him in the chin. As Vegeta was sent flying back he went to get in another hit but Vegeta kicked him back. Gohan held his face for a moment before going back to attack Vegeta.

"M-Mae," Goku said. "Go help your brother."

Mae wiped her bloody nose on the sleeve of her shirt, "r-right." She was surprised at this new found energy Gohan had. She flew up and began attacking Vegeta along with Gohan.

"Krillin!" Goku called for his friend. "Krillin come here!"

Krillin slowly made his way over to Goku.

"Enough of this!" Vegeta yelled as he punched Gohan and kicked Mae. The twins yelled before going back to attack.

"Goku...it's hopeless..." Krillin said. "He's too strong. Why didn't you tell Mae and Gohan to run away?"

"Krillin hurry, while I'm still alive. I can give you my spirit bomb," Goku said, with a hopeful look in his eyes.
