Mae and Goku lowered to the ground, both exhausted from their match. Goku smiled at his daughter. "You've gotten stronger. Any luck on Ultra Instinct?"

Mae sighed and hung her head, "no. I wish. It just won't come to me like it did before."

Goku put a hand on her shoulder, "don't worry. You'll get it, I know you will."

Mae looked up at him and smiled, "thanks Dad."

Bardock watched the interaction. He smiled at them but something in his chest ached. He wished that he could have seen his son grow up. He walked over to Goku and put a hand on his shoulder. "You've really grown up, son."

Goku seemed confused at first but he nodded and smiled. "Yep!"

Bardock snorted and smiled back, "so, tell me, how was it growing up on Earth all alone?"

"Well, I wasn't alone," Goku told him. "I was taken in by a kind person, my grandpa Gohan. He's the one who raised me and first taught me martial arts."

"What happened to him?" Bardock asked. He felt grateful to the human who took in his son.

"I didn't know it at the time, but I accidently turned into a great ape and killed him," Goku said sadly.

"That's unfortunate," Bardock lowered his gaze. He understood how one could lose themselves in the great ape transformation.

"Yeah, but it's okay," Goku said. "I got to see my grandpa when he came back to earth for a day. Plus I made a bunch of friends along the way, so I was never really alone."

"Friends like Vegeta?" Bardock raised a brow.

"Yeah," Goku nodded. "Although Vegeta wasn't always a good person, but he ended up changing."

Bardock glanced at Mae, "so I've heard."

"But, I met a bunch of other friends too," Goku continued. "Like Bulma, Krillin, Yamcha, Tienshinhan, Piccolo, and my wife Chi-Chi."

"Chi-Chi?" Bardock asked. "I'd like to meet your wife."

Goku turned to Mae, "you didn't introduce them?"

"Ah, no I didn't," Mae ran a hand through her hair. "Kinda got distracted with training."

"Oh I see," Goku rubbed his chin. "I'm sure Chi-Chi will be okay."

Mae let out a nervous laugh, "yeah, maybe."

"Well, we better head over there," Goku said. Mae and Bardock nodded and they lifted up into the air.

As they flew Bardock found himself lost in his thoughts. When they arrived Mae brought his attention back. He shook his head and gave her a small smile. He was eager to see what kind of woman his son had married.

When they went into the house Goku called out to Chi-Chi. She came out of the kitchen with an unamused expression. "Goku, what took you so long?!"

"Sorry, Chi-Chi, we were training," Goku raised his hands up.

As Chi-Chi began to lay into Goku, Bardock turned to Mae. "Why did she call him Goku?"

"Oh, I forgot to tell you, his Earth name is Goku," Mae answered, "but he responds to Kakarot too. But only a few people call him that, like Vegeta, Broly, and now you."

"I see," Bardock nodded.

Chi-Chi glanced over at Bardock, "hello, I'm sorry for the rudeness. I'm Chi-Chi. You look a lot like my husband."

"He's my dad," Goku told her. "He somehow wound up here from the past."

"Oh my," Chi-Chi gasped. "Well it's nice to meet you."

"Likewise," Bardock nodded. "You are certainly a strong willed woman," he smiled.

"Yeah she is," Goku nodded fondly.

"So have you just arrived here?" Chi-Chi asked.

"No, I've been here a few weeks. Your daughter has been helping me," Bardock gestured to Mae.

"Mae, you mean to say that he's been here for weeks and you never thought to introduce me?" Chi-Chi gave an annoyed smiled at Mae.

"Uh, well, I would have but I forgot," Mae scratched her head. "We were training a lot."

Chi-Chi shook her head and sighed, "You are your father's daughter."

Mae and Goku looked at each other and laughed. They sat and talked for awhile. Chi-Chi told Bardock how she and Goku met and how they decided to get married during the World Martial Arts Tournament. Bardock listened intently as they told him about the Demon King Piccolo, Piccolo Jr, and even the Red Ribbon Army.

After a while Chi-Chi decided to start making dinner. "Mae, call your brothers. Let's have dinner as a family. Also see if your husband can make it."

"I'll ask, but Jiren has been pretty busy recently," Mae said. She pulled out a device and called Gohan and Goten, telling them to come over. She also sent a message to Jiren. He replied saying that he would come if he could.

Not long after Gohan and Goten arrived along with Videl, Pan, and the twins. Gicchin and Chi ran up to Goku and jumped into his arms, excited to see their grandfather.

"Grandpa! Watch this!" Gicchin jumped down, he powered up to super saiyan. He let his energy rise further and sparks began to form. However before he could complete the form he ran out of energy and dropped back to base.

"Woah! You're almost at super saiyan two!" Goku exclaimed, patting Gicchin on the head.

"I can do cool stuff too!" Chi exclaimed. She powered up and a red glow formed in her eyes. She focused herself and attacked Goku with her glare.

"Wow!" Goku grinned. "You're gonna be just like Jiren!"

"Yeah!" Chi nodded excitedly. "I'm gonna be as strong as daddy!"

"I bet you are," Goku smiled and pat her head.

Mae introduced her brothers to Bardock. Both of them were glad to see that he was better. When Chi-Chi learned that they knew about him she gave the boys a lecture as well. They both laughed and apologized to her. Chi-Chi ended up sighing and put out dinner.

The family sat together and ate. As they were all talking Bardock felt a warmth in his chest, he was happy. Happy being here with them, he only wished Gine could have been there as well. Before sadness could form in his chest he was shocked by a sudden immense power. He shot up but the others told him it was only Jiren.

Bardock watched in surprise as Mae gave her husband a kiss. The twins showing him the things they learned. He was a bit intimidated as Jiren came over to introduce himself. He shoved it down and held a hand out.

They ended up talking well into the evening. As they were saying their goodbyes Bardock asked Goku to train with him. Goku accepted and told him he'd be there in the morning.

When the morning came Bardock was ready for his son. Mae stepped out and crossed her arms, wanting to see how the fight would go. Goku arrived shortly after, ready to fight.

Both fighters stepped into their fighting stances and took off after each other. Bardock was able to keep up with Goku in his base form. However when Goku powered up to super saiyan that's when he began to have trouble. Bardock powered up to super saiyan to try and bridge the gap. Goku continued to overwhelm Bardock not only with power but with skills. Bardock forced himself up to super saiyan two, but it still wasn't enough.

Bardock was out of breath, but impressed by his son. He swore that he was going to continue to work harder. That eventually he would be able to match Goku. Goku smirked and nodded, excited for that day to come.

As the weeks passed Mae continued to train Bardock. She helped him master super saiyan two and started pushing him to super saiyan three. She also began to have him sense god ki. She told him that this would ensure him to be able to reach forms like super saiyan god and super saiyan blue. Bardock focused himself and he slowly began to feel her god-like energy.

One day while they were training Goku, along with Vegeta, invited them to go train with Whis. Bardock declined, wanting to continue his training with Mae. Goku understood, he and the saiyan prince left for Beerus' world.

"Are you sure that was the right call?" Mae asked him. "Whis could probably teach you way more than I could."

Bardock simply shook his head. "You've already gotten me this far. You should continue to train me."

Mae wasn't entirely sure, but she sighed and agreed. "If that's what you want."

Bardock nodded and thus continued their training.

One day while they were sparing they both felt two strong energies in the atmosphere. Mae recognized one all too well. She frowned deeply. "Damn it."

"Who is it?" Bardock asked, his eyes to the sky. He had a bad feeling in his stomach.

"It's Frieza," Mae scowled. "He's finally come back here."
