Searching and Waiting
"Broly?" Vegeta asked with raised brows. "What are you on about?"
"Frieza said that he kidnapped Broly," Mae said. "He's probably gonna try and use him like before."
"Hmph, why should we care?" Vegeta scoffed. "We will just defeat him again."
"He's a saiyan like us," Mae pointed out. "And he doesn't seem like a bad guy. If anything having him on our side would be a bonus."
"She's right Vegeta," Goku nodded in agreement.
"But we don't know where to start looking," Bardock pointed out. "It's not like they gave us clues to where he might be."
"Dad should be able to sense Broly's energy," Mae turned to Goku.
"I'll try," Goku said bringing his fingers to his forehead. He searched for a moment before shaking his head, "he's either too far away or they've done something to hide his energy."
"Damn it," Mae swore.
"Don't worry," Goku put a hand on her shoulder. "I'll find him."
Mae looked up at her father, "okay."
"In the meantime, you should rest," Jiren said taking Mae's hand in his.
"I feel fine. If anything I need more training," Mae replied. Jiren gave her a hard look and she said, "okay maybe a small rest."
Jiren sighed and shook his head. He knew that he wasn't going to be able to convince her any further. "Let's go home then."
"Okay," Mae smiled at him. She turned to Gohan and smiled at him. He smiled back and they had an unspoken conversation. Both were glad to be with each other again.
Jiren nodded to the others before scooping Mae into his arms and flying home. Mae didn't protest about being carried. Instead she rested her head against his strong chest. She looked up at him and stared at his face for a moment.
Jiren glanced down at her, "Hmm?"
Mae shook her head, "nothin. Just glad I have you as my husband."
Jiren flushed a bit and kissed her forehead. When they arrived at their home Gicchin and Chi were outside waiting with Goten. Both twins had a worried look on their face.
"Momma!" Chi ran up as Jiren set her down.
"Mommy!" Gicchin hurried after his sister. "We were worried!"
"How come?" Mae knelt down for her children.
"We couldn't feel you anymore," Chi said slightly sniffling.
"We thought something bad happened," Gicchin added.
Mae her put her hands on their heads. "I'm okay. No need for you two to worry."
The twins hugged their mother. They could tell she was lying but they didn't want to know what had really happened. Mae rubbed their backs soothingly. She didn't want her children to be sad or to worry. However her heart ached knowing they sensed her die.
Goten walked over and smiled sadly at his sister. "Hey Chi, Gicchin, why don't we let your parents have some time alone. We can go fishing or something."
The twins pulled away and looked at their uncle. "Okay!" They nodded together.
"Thank you," Mae said.
"No problem," Goten said. He extended a hand and helped her onto her feet. He gave her a hug before leading the twins away.
Mae and Jiren watched until they were out of view. After they went into their home. Mae went into their room and changed her clothes. She pulled on a long-sleeve black shirt and some new pants. Jiren simply observed her.
"What?" Mae asked him as she pulled her boots back on.
"Let's go to that place," Jiren reached out and held her hand.
"What about Broly?" Mae asked.
"Your father is looking for him," Jiren pointed out.
Mae hesitated for a moment before nodding. "You're right. Let's go."
Jiren scooped her up and brought them to universe eleven. After a few minutes of flying they landed on Planet Cryst. The sun hung low in the sky making the crystal flowers around them glow orange, gold, and pink. Mae couldn't help but marvel at their beauty.
Jiren went and sat under a tree, still holding his wife close. He looked out at the field before him before speaking. "I really thought I lost you today. I was so afraid."
"Jiren..." Mae said softly.
Jiren thought about how he lost his family and his master all those years ago. He wrapped his large arms around the small saiyan even tighter. His head lowered and rested against hers. He closed his eyes and just felt her. Listening to her breathing and feeling her body against his, not wanting to let her go.
"I...I don't know what I would do if I lost you," Jiren said quietly. "The pain would be too much."
"Jiren, I'm still here," Mae looked up and put a hand on his cheek. "I won't leave you. I promise."
Jiren opened his eyes and looked at her. "I just...do you remember when the twins were born? I almost lost you then too."
Mae lowered her gaze at the painful memory. "I...I know."
"I thought I'd never have to live through that again but today...today you really died," Jiren said, his voice catching. "I'm glad the dragon balls were able to bring you back. But what if...what if they couldn't?"
Mae didn't know what to say. She leaned against Jiren. Her hand reach out and held his. She squeezed his hand lightly. "I'm sorry."
Jiren touched her chin and brought her face up to look at him. "I love you, Mae. More than anything. You've given my life more meaning. You're the one who showed me how to connect with people. Without you I'd still be the same power hungry person as before. You've made me a better man. Without you I'd be nothing."
Mae felt tears form in her eyes, "Jiren. I love you too."
Jiren wiped the tears that fell down her cheeks. "You are my everything."
Mae didn't know what to say. She looked into her husband's dark eyes and leaned up to kiss him. She put all the unspoken feelings into her kiss as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
Jiren leaned into the kiss, moving his hands up her back and thigh. He pulled her even closer as he deepened the kiss. He felt the world melt away, only wanting to feel her. He moved his hand and intertwined his fingers in her hair. His heart kept a steady pace but he could feel the quickened beat of hers.
When they finally parted they both smiled. Mae put her hand on Jiren's cheek. "I love you, my wonderful husband."
"I love you too," Jiren responded. "So much."
Mae leaned closer and whispered something in his ear with a light smirk. The Grey blushed slightly before laying her against the ground and kissing her passionately. The flowers around them glittering as the sun finally sunk below the horizon.
Meanwhile, Goku went on the search to find Broly. He had a bad feeling since he couldn't sense the saiyan. Goku figured that he would be able to sense him anywhere due to his overwhelming battle power. However whenever Goku tried to sense him all he could feel was nothing.
Goku decided to go to King Kai's. After he told King Kai about the situation he asked, "so do you think you can find him?"
King Kai thought for a moment and rubbed his chin. "I'm not sure but I'll try."
King Kai moved his antennae trying to find Broly. After a few moments he said, "sorry, but I can't sense him either. Perhaps the Supreme Kai would be able to."
"Oh, good idea!" Goku nodded. "Thanks King Kai!" He waved and vanished to the World of Kais.
Again, Goku explained everything that happened. The Supreme Kai nodded and looked into a glass ball. He used his powers to search the universe.
"Ah! I feel a small presence," Shin said after several minutes. "Here in this region. It's faint but you should be able to sense him."
Goku brought his fingers to his head and focused. He concentrated, searching the area the supreme kai had told him. Finally he felt it. There was a small energy coming from one of the two planets. An energy that felt just like Broly's.
