Saiyans of Earth
After the battle the saiyans returned home. Both Mae and Broly were unconscious but still alive. There was no trace of Frieza and Cooler, but they knew they would return again someday. Goku was confident that they would be able to beat them again but Vegeta was mad that they were able to get away. He was going to make them pay for what they did to Mae. The next time they arrived they wouldn't get off so easily.
Mae slept for an entire day, exhausted from Ultra Instinct -Sign-, Jiren stayed by her side the whole time. Bardock stayed close as well. He had grown quite attached to his granddaughter and he hoped that she was okay. Jiren assured him that she would recover. This wasn't the first time she achieved that form. Jiren told Bardock about the incident from five years. How Hearts had threatened all the universes.
"Ultra Instinct?" Bardock repeated. "That sounds...crazy."
"Yes, the gods were surprised when Goku managed it the first time," Jiren said. He closed his eyes as though being back in that intense fight. Two astonishing powers colliding, making the Null World tremble.
"And Mae has learned this as well," Bardock let out a breath.
"She hasn't mastered it," Jiren said. "She has too much emotion in the way. She hasn't learned how to let go and focus herself."
"Can Prince Vegeta do this as well?" Bardock asked.
"No, Vegeta is too arrogant," Jiren said with a light scoff. He and the saiyan prince didn't exactly get along.
While they were talking Mae opened her eyes, "I'll reach it."
Bardock and Jiren turned their attention to her, a bit surprised she was awake. Jiren reached over and put a hand on her arm. Bardock studied her face, her expression was focused, determined. Something in his chest ached. She had the same face Gine did when she wanted to do something.
"I'll master Ultra Instinct and I'll find a form beyond that," Mae continued.
"I know you will," Jiren said, he leaned forward and kissed her forehead.
Over the next few days Mae began to train with Bardock so he could get a handle on super saiyan blue. The two clashed together at super saiyan god. Two red blurs in the sky causing shock waves in their wake. Below, the twins, Chi and Gicchin watched intently.
"I wanna be super saiyan god," Gicchin said.
"You just learned super saiyan," Chi pointed out.
"Yeah I know," Gicchin said. He jumped up and turned to his sister, "let's train together!"
"Okay," Chi nodded and stood up. She brushed her grey hair back before taking up a fighting position.
Gicchin brought his hands up and rushed forward to strike Chi. Before he could hit he was met by a wall of energy, Chi's eyes glowing red. Gicchin powered up a little and forced his way through her barrier before punching her across the face.
Chi hit the ground but got back up. She wrapped energy around her fist and punched Gicchin in the stomach. The boy retched before kicking Chi. She managed to block with her other arm, but she was sent skidding to the side. Once she stopped she sent red balls of energy at her brother. Gicchin matched her with yellow energy. An explosion went off between them as the energy collided. They were both sent flying backwards but they recovered quickly.
"You're fun to fight," Gicchin grinned.
"You are too," Chi smirked.
"I'm gonna beat you this time," Gicchin said. He drew in his power before letting it explode into super saiyan.
Chi let her energy rise to match his level. Since she couldn't use super saiyan she had to rely on her own power. "No you won't," she replied arrogantly.
"We'll see," Gicchin said before going to attack.
The twins were evenly matched and they exchanged blow for blow. When one got the upper hand the other was able to dodge and counter before taking the offensive. Both used a combination of techniques learned from their parents. By the end of it they were both worn out, laying on the ground trying to catch their breath.
"I...I think I won this one," Gicchin gasped.
"No way," Chi panted. "It's a tie."
"I'll beat you next time," Gicchin laughed.
"You can try," Chi also laughed.
The twins stared up into the sky where the fight between Mae and Bardock was still raging. They were now at super saiyan blue. The children weren't able to see their movements. Only every now and then did they get a glimpse of the fighters. Blue flashes of light followed by shockwaves is what they saw the most of. Even though they couldn't see clearly they were both interested and focused on what they could see.
Finally Bardock ran out of stamina and Mae ended the fight. She was impressed by how far he had come in such a short amount of time. She began to wonder how thing's might've been if he had survived the destruction of Planet Vegeta.
"You're pretty awesome Bardock," Mae told him. "It's no wonder that dad is so naturally gifted. He definitely get's it from you."
"Kakarot also trains and works hard too right?" Bardock asked, wiping the sweat from his forehead.
"Well, yeah of course," Mae said. "But at the same time..."
Bardock wore a proud smile. He was proud of his son and his grandchildren. He knew that Mae was the strongest, but from what he had seen from Goten and Gohan they were formidable as well. He could appreciate the fact that Gohan trained not for the thrill of the fight, but to protect his family. It reminded him of when he wanted nothing more than to save his wife and child.
Bardock was brought out of his thoughts when the twins came running up to them. Both of them were excited by the fight. The twins began asking questions at rapid fire and Bardock could barely keep up with them.
Mae laughed as her grandfather became flustered by the excited twins. "Do you mind keeping an eye on them? I'm going to go check on Broly and see how he's holding up."
"Oh, uh, sure," Bardock nodded. He then herded the children back inside Mae's house.
Mae smiled before heading off to Broly's place. Bulma had gotten set up with a house in a secluded canyon. The area was covered in grass and trees, surrounded by beautiful red rocks. Animals roamed around peacefully. It was a nice area, perfect for Broly and his friends.
Mae found the saiyan sitting outside, "hey."
Broly was startled by her and shifted back, "M-Mae...why are you here?"
"I'm not here to fight if that is what you are worried about," Mae held her hands up. "I'm just checking on you. Making sure you are adjusting to Earth."
"Oh," Broly relaxed. "It's nice here."
"Yeah, Earth is great," Mae agreed. "I'm glad you are doing good though. I was a little worried I hit you too hard," she laughed nervously.
"I am alright," Broly assured. "You saved me and my friends. You, Kakarot, and Vegeta."
"We couldn't just leave you in Frieza's grasp," Mae said.
Broly looked down, "I don't like Frieza."
"Me neither," Mae said. "He's the literal worst and he killed me."
Broly looked at her with a strange look, "But...but you're here...alive."
"Yeah, I got brought back with these wish-granting dragon balls," Mae lightly laughed.
Broly was still confused but he shrugged, "oh."
"Yeah, it's a whole thing," Mae rubbed her head. "But I'm glad you are adjusting."
"Yes, thank you," Broly nodded.
They spent the rest of the evening chatting for awhile, enjoying the peaceful breeze that earth brought them.
