New Namek
"So where is Moro headed then?" Jaco asked. "There aren't any planets with life in that direction, what do you think he wants?"
Goku looked out into space with a concerned expression. "No...I've been out that way before."
"What?!" Both Vegeta and Mae exclaimed.
"When?" Mae asked her father.
"What's over there?" Vegeta asked.
"I'm pretty sure it's when I went to see Dende," Goku answered.
"Dende!" Mae gasped.
"So it's the planet the Namekians went to?" Vegeta asked.
"Woah what?!" Jaco chimed in. "I thought their whole race died when Namek blew up!"
"No, we managed to save them all," Goku shook his head. "For their safety, no one was supposed to know where they're living."
Merus rubbed his chin in thought, "Now that Moro's magic has returned, it's likely he's capable of scanning for planets with life. If the namekians are alive then his goal must be..."
He was suddenly interrupted by the thieves. "I heard those namekians have some with wish granting balls."
Goku, Mae, and Vegeta turned to him in alert.
"You mean the dragon balls?!" Jaco exclaimed. "How do you know about the dragon balls?!"
The thief chuckled, "back when I was doing time in the galactic prison one of my fellow prisoners was a deserter from the Freiza Force. He told me some things. Said that Frieza himself once went to Namek looking for these balls."
Vegeta scowled, "more of Frieza's dregs, can't keep their mouth shut, keep stirring up trouble."
"Now, I ain't interested unless there's profit to be made so I didn't pay much mind," the thief continued. "But by your reaction just now, cop, that tells me it's all true ain't it?"
"Ack!" Jaco froze.
"Way to go, Jaco," Mae sighed.
"This former guy of Frieza's was looking for someone strong to help him find these balls," the thief said. "So odds are he's looking to the baddest, strongest guy in the prison, Moro."
"This is bad..." Jaco said.
"So Moro is after the Namekian dragon balls," Mae said.
"There's a high probability yes," Merus said.
"What do you think Moro would wish for?" Goku wondered.
"If I were him I'd wish for the galactic patrol to bite the dust, no questions asked," the thief said. "A ten million year grudge is quite the force to be reckoned with."
"Shut up criminal!" Jaco shouted. He closed the shutter on the jail cell. "You three are getting locked up and we are losing the key!"
Merus rubbed his head, worried, "this is worse than we imagined."
Out in space Moro spoke, "it was good fortune to have just an ounce of my magic return before I died."
"You got some of your magic back a few years ago right?" The prisoner who was helping Moro asked.
"That's right," Moro nodded. "It allowed me to break free of that wretched cage."
"You got me out of there too," the prisoner said.
Moro glared in response.
The prisoner laughed nervously. "You really did me a favor."
"I still need to ascertain the truth of your tale," Moro said.
"Y-yeah, I understand," the prisoner nodded.
"Do these dragon balls really possess such power?" Moro asked.
"Yeah, they'll grant any wish," the prisoner said. "Three wishes actually."
"Good," Moro said.
"But Moro..." the prisoner said. "You said I could use one of the wishes to escape to a planet where the galactic patrol and Freiza's army would never find me, right?"
"Of course," Moro said. "Only one wish is all I need for my desires. Once mine is fulfilled I'll no longer require your services."
The prisoner sighed in relief, "thanks. Sounds good."
On Namek, the elder Namekian and his children prayed gratefully beside the dragon ball. "It is thanks to the protection of the gods that we live in peace. We must not forget to be thankful."
"Yes," one of the children agreed.
"This peace must be protected at all costs," the elder stated.
The Namekians went on about their day. The children playing together, the elders playing games, while the young men worked.
One of the Namekian's looked up into the sky and saw something coming towards them.
"What is it?" The elder asked him.
"Elder," he responded. "You see that there? It looks like a spaceship."
"What should we do?!" Goku asked. "He's going to reach Namek any second now!"
"We can't wait for Buu to wake up," Vegeta said.
"No matter what we do, he's already expecting me," Goku said.
"We might as well just go now," Mae said.
"I'd like to see him with my own eyes," Vegeta nodded in agreement.
"Go?" Merus furrowed his brows. "How do you plan on that? Even with the fastest ship there's no way we could get there before Moro."
Both Vegeta and Mae put a hand on Goku as he grinned, bringing his fingers to his forehead. "I've got my instant transmission," he said before he and the other two saiyans vanished.
Merus was taken aback, "they mustn't! Facing Moro now is far too dangerous!"
The three arrived on the planet in front of the elder, giving him a bit of a shock. "Who's this now?!"
"Hi! Remember me?" Goku turned to wave.
"Oh! Son Goku! It's great to see you in good health!" The elder smiled at the saiyan.
"Yeah, I'm doing well thanks," Goku said.
Before they could continue chatting more Vegeta interrupted them. "Look Kakarot, Mae, he's here."
"Yeah," Mae narrowed her eyes at the incoming ship.
"Right," Goku nodded.
"What's going on?" The elder asked.
"An evil prisoner has escaped jail and for some reason he's coming here," Mae explained briefly.
"A prison escapee?!" The elder asked, taken aback.
"That's right," Goku nodded. "So you guys need to grab the dragon balls and run far away."
"V-very well," the elder nodded. "We are in your debt again." He hurried to get his people together to flee.
On the ship Moro and the other prisoner looked down at the three saiyans.
"The one seeking me before has come to this planet," Moro observed. "I'm not sure how he crossed such a distance but I'm sure he's here to apprehend me."
"Damn galactic patrol," the other prisoner swore. "Seems they don't value their lives if they're ready to fight you, Moro."
Moro pushed his way forward to get a better look at Goku, "this one has spectacular energy."
"You're right, his energy is ominous," Vegeta said.
"But he doesn't exactly feel that battle worthy," Mae crossed her arms.
"Is this really the monster Merus warned us about?" Vegeta questioned.
"It's hard to say but I have a bad feeling about this," Goku said.
The ship landed in front of them and a ramp came down, touching the ground. Slowly he appeared, stepping from the ship. He was a hunched over, old, goat man with a long beard. A cloak covered most of his body.
The three saiyans stared at him, surprised at what they were looking at.
"He's nothing but a feeble old man," Vegeta said.
"Makes sense considering how long he's lived," Goku said.
Moro lifted his head and took a deep breath. "My first breath of fresh air in ten million years. It's as if I'm born again.
The other prisoner looked out at the window. "Is that Vegeta? What's he doing here?" He wondered.
"I'm guessing you're Moro?" Mae spoke up. "We've heard you've done some bad things."
"How about you turn around and go back to prison," Goku said.
Moro turned his head, ignoring Mae and Goku. He looked at one of the Namekian houses and after a moment he grinned. He held his hand out to the side.
"What?" Mae asked.
Suddenly there was a crash from the house and a child yelled, "help me!" He was being drawn to Moro's grasp.
"What?!" Vegeta exclaimed.
Moro caught the child by his throat.
"No!" Mae yelled.
"What's your scheme?!" Vegeta demanded.
"Let him go!" Goku shouted.
Moro held the child out in front of them. "Not to worry, this one is merely food.
The child was gasping for air as Moro began to choke him.
"Stop!" Mae yelled.
"Enough!" Goku cried out as they were about to make a move.
Suddenly Vegeta was upon Moro and kicked his hand, making him release the child.
"Vegeta!" Mae gasped.
Vegeta grabbed the child and quickly brought him to the Namekian who had already been looking for him.
"You would dare interrupt my long awaited meal?" Moro asked, rubbing his wrist.
"I have a troubled past withers these Namekians. I did them untold harm. So no, I can't allow even one of them to perish," Vegeta glared. "And they are certainly not your food."
"Vegeta..." Mae said, remembering the last time they were on Namek. The carnage the prince brought the the Namekian village in search of the dragon balls.
Vegeta glanced over his shoulder at them, "Mae, Kakarot, let me take care of this one."
