I will get stronger!
Hours turned into days, days turned into weeks, and before Mae knew it six months had passed since Whis had left her and Vegeta in this realm. She had finally learned how to control her energy. Her body began to handle fighting with Vegeta while he was super saiyan blue. Although she herself couldn't reach that level yet.
"You still need to control your emotions." Vegeta said after their training one day.
"I thought rage was a good way to fight," Mae said while stretching.
"It can be a good catalyst however you become sloppy when you are using your emotions to drive you. I noticed this was especially true when you fought with Kakarot." Vegeta crossed his arms. "You need to figure out your emotions towards your father if you want to go further."
Mae sighed, "He's not the easiest person to sit down and talk to."
"Just ask Kakarot to train with you. That fool will listen to you then. He knows how strong you are." Vegeta said.
Just as Mae was going to reply she and Vegeta were pulled out of Whis' dimension and back into the real world.
"Welcome back, I decided to only keep you in there for about twelve hours or so. Shall we go have dinner now?" Whis chuckled.
Mae realized just how hungry she was but first she needed to go see her father. As if Whis had read her mind he said, "Goku is still training out in the field. If you hurry you might be able to catch him."
"Thank you, Whis!" Mae said quickly as she flew off to find her father.
Mae found Goku standing with his eyes closed. He seemed to be doing image training based on the look on his face. Mae crossed her arms and waited for him to finish.
"Hey Mae! Did you get a good training in with Vegeta?" Goku asked before he opened his eyes.
"Yea I did, but I wanted to ask you something," Mae uncrossed her arms and looked up into her fathers' eyes. "I want you to do extra training with me."
"Hmm, are you sure?" Goku rubbed his chin in thought. "We already train together plus you have Whis and Vegeta too."
"No it needs to be you. Please, dad, we can go before our usual training regimen," she hated how weak she felt in that moment.
"Haha okay then. I could always use extra trainin," Goku smiled at his daughter. He was still a little shocked that she was pushing herself as hard as she was.
"Thanks dad. Do you want to go grab dinner?" Mae said smiling back at her father. For the first time in a long time she started to feel comfortable around him.
The next morning Goku was ready and waiting. Mae met him outside where the sun was barely starting to peek over the horizon. He was dressed in his typical orange and blue training outfit and she had on her red and black outfit that Whis had made for her.
"Dad before we start just know that I want to prove to you how much stronger I've gotten!" Mae focused herself trying to keep her energy and emotions in check. Like Vegeta said this would be the best time for her to actually talk to her father.
"Heh heh I already know you're strong," Goku grinned.
"Well I haven't always been. When you left and Vegeta stole me that's when I had to really start working." Mae readied herself. She could feel her anger boiling up inside her.
"Yea but then I came for you. You continued to grow stronger without me." Goku said going in for a punch. "Even when I was dead. You managed to become stronger than I expected."
Mae blocked, "Because you weren't around to train me! I had to sneak away so many times. I would beg Vegeta to train me so that way one day I could beat you. You never took me with you when you took Gohan. You left me behind!" She blinked back tears and went super saiyan.
"I couldn't have taken you, there's no way your mother would have let me after Vegeta took you. It was hard enough for me to get Gohan out. Besides you had Vegeta." Goku went into super saiyan and blocked a kick from Mae.
"Because Vegeta actually gave a damn about me!" Mae was so angry that she was blindly attacking. Tears were clouding her vision, years of repressing emotions were finally pouring out of her.
"I do care, Mae. I've done everything I can to get strong so I can protect you, Chi-Chi, Gohan, and Goten. Fighting with you has really gotten my blood pumping and I'm more than proud of how far you have come. I've always been proud of you, Mae. You still have a ways to go too I can tell." Goku stopped and hugged his crying daughter. "I'm sorry I wasn't there for you more."
"I feel like an idiot," Mae buried her face into her fathers chest and let the tears flow. She couldn't stop them now even if she wanted to.
"You aren't an idiot, Mae. Why don't we look ahead and get stronger together. I promise ya I will help you train as much as Vegeta has." Goku smiled down at Mae. He knew that maybe now she could achieve her full potential.
"Okay dad. Shall we continue?" Mae wiped her tears and she suddenly felt like a weight had been lifted off her. One that she had carried for many years.
Over the course of the next few days Mae learned how to control her emotions and she was able to fight with a clear mind. One morning Mae walked out and saw Goku and Vegeta wearing odd suits while doing push ups.
"What on earth are you guys wearing?" She laughed.
"Those are weighted training suits. I have one for you as well!" Whis laughed and touched Mae's clothes. Instantly she was wearing an insanely heavy training suit. "You will be wearing that while you do your endurance training. Now up up to your pedestal."
"Ugh fine," Mae groaned regretting laughing at Vegeta and her father. The weight pulled on her body more than Bulma's gravity training room. Mae focused with all her might to hold the stones without shaking. Soon she began to feel the sweat dripping down her face. Keeping her breathing even she watched as Goku and Vegeta switch from push ups to handstand push ups to doing push ups on their thumbs. She lost track of time as she carried the weight. She was about to jump to switch her feet when there was a loud boom and a bright light from the forest which made her lose her balance and fall from her pedestal.
"What the hell?" She floated up trying to keep control while wearing the suit.
Goku and Vegeta were looking to the smoke coming from the forest. When Beerus erupted from the temple. "Goku! Vegeta! You woke me from my nap!"
"It wasn't us!" Goku yelled trying to explain but it was too late the god was already launching energy balls at them.
"You guys better run," Mae chuckled.
Vegeta and Goku took off as fast as their suits would allow them with Beerus hot on their tails. They ran into the forest and Whis and Mae watched as small explosions went off. After sometime Goku and Vegeta came back with Beerus and another figure who looked like a fatter version of the cat like god. Along with him was a female attendant who looked like Whis.
Mae followed the group back into the temple quietly. When they were in the dining room Beerus finally spoke, "why are you here Champa?"
"I wanted to challenge you to a contest," Champa grinned.
"And just what would I gain from that?" Beerus yawned and opened one eye.
"I have six of the seven wish orbs. Whoever wins can have them." Champa crossed his arms and turned to his attendant. "Oh yea Vados show them the treat I brought."
"These are a delicacy in the sixth universe," Vados said opening a box that had some weirdly shaped, green speckled eggs. She gave one to each of them. Goku happily ate his egg but Mae and Vegeta noticed that they were just like ordinary hard boiled eggs although they did have a nice enough flavor.
"If you want to talk delicacies, Whis show them the ramen." Beerus said finishing his egg.
After a few minutes the instant ramen was ready to enjoy. Everyone happily took one and Champa and Vados were amazed by the delicious noodles. Champa wanting to have these all the time inquired about universe six's earth which had been destroyed by its own inhabitants.
"How about whoever wins the contest gets universe seven's earth!" Champa said.
"There's no way I would just hand it over to you!" Beerus said angrily.
Mae could feel the tension in the air coming from the destroyers. They got in each other's face and she knew they were about to fight. Their arguing became so bad that the ground turned an ashy color. Goku, Vegeta, and Mae backed as far as the could before the destroyers destroyed the temple. Finally Whis and Vados stopped the gods from trying to destroy both their universes.
"Fine I'll agree to your contest. What would you have us do?" Beerus sat down.
Before Champa could answer Goku interrupted, "how about a martial arts tournament!" The gods agreed that would be a good idea and came up with rules and teams of five fighters. After setting a date Champa and Vados departed back to their own universe.
"Goku, since this was your idea you need to put the rest of the team together. I will go and get Monaka." Beerus scratched his ear.
Before Goku could start asking about Monaka Whis was already ready to transport the saiyans back to earth where they could find another member for their team.
