Halfway
Her words rang through Jiren's mind, 'it doesn't matter.' She was a calm fury but what really got his attention were her eyes. Inside those pale blue eyes was a fire of silent rage. Her eyes were like his own. Irritated, he pushed the thought of her away and turned to face his new opponent. "You are the assassin Hit."
Mae ran as fast as she could. She knew her father was weak, possibly close to death. She wasn't sure how much damage he had taken but she knew he would at least be trying to find a safe place to hide. She stopped when she saw a bright purple light in front of the center column. She had a feeling her father was there so she jumped over the rubble and almost collided with Frieza. "Frieza What did you do?" She glared at him.
"I saved your father. You could show some appreciation." Frieza smiled innocently.
"Mae it's true. He gave me some energy." Goku said popping up behind Frieza.
"Fine." Mae said letting Frieza pass. "Jiren is fighting Hit."
"Let's go." Goku nodded and they took off running to where Jiren was. "So about that new form."
"Yea where did that even come from? Silver aura plus your movements were totally different." Mae said.
"Frieza said the gods are calling it Ultra Instinct, but I was referring to your form." Goku glanced at her.
"Oh that." Mae paused. "Whis has been helping me. It's supposed to be like your blue Kaioken, in strength and speed at least. We are calling it Super Saiyan Ice. Right now it's only slightly stronger than blue. It's like there's this wall and I can't break through it so I can fully use Ice."
They came up to where Hit and Jiren were, "I'm sure you will pass your limit." Goku smiled at her. "Now let's see if Hit can take on Jiren."
Mae jumped up on to the pillar and squatted down watching the fight. Hit was using his time skip on Jiren. Either Jiren was able to see through his attacks, or he could predict Hit's movements. "Impressive." Mae said as she watched Jiren continue to counter.
"Why are you wasting time?" Jiren asked as he punched Hit to the ground.
"Because this is my job." Hit stood up and went to his separate dimension. Jiren turned around and punched at the air connecting with Hit.
"Holy shit!" Mae exclaimed. "He broke through Hit's dimension!"
"He is predicting all of his attacks." Goku said equally shocked.
"You're mine!" A sudden voice called from behind Mae. She turned in time to see Piccolo and Gohan jump in front of two other namekians.
"You'll be fighting us." Gohan said as he nodded to Mae. He knew that she needed to see Jiren in action.
Jiren tossed Hit across the arena and Mae and Goku ran to keep up. Jiren was back on Hit within an instant. Jiren continued to beat Hit. His time skip simply wasn't enough for his strength. "I'll end it with this hit!" Hit said as he jumped at Jiren. Somehow he managed to connect sending Jiren right to the edge.
"That won't work." Jiren said.
"With that I can hold you in a cage of time." Hit said as a purple aura covered Jiren stopping his movements.
"Wow he stopped him!" Goku said.
"I wonder if Hit can hold it." Mae crossed her arms. Across the way she saw Cabba and the two saiyan girls watching the match.
"It seems that Hit is continuously using the time skip only on Jiren." Vados explained.
Slowly Jiren started to power through. First moving a hand then his whole body was shaking. It was only a matter of time before he broke free. "We should help!" Caulifla said trying to walk out.
"No! I can do this. You each have your roles now go!" Hit commanded. The three saiyans nodded and took off.
"Hit can't hold him." Mae said as Jiren started to slowly walk towards Hit.
Hit started to gather energy, "I'll finish it with this." Hit jumped up and launched himself at Jiren trying to end it.
Suddenly Jiren broke free and grabbed the energy Hit held and shattered it. "An assassins pride? What garbage." Faster than Mae could blink Jiren attacked Hit multiple times sending him flying. "It's over." He said as he sent an energy blast that knocked Hit off the arena.
"He knocked Hit out!" Goku exclaimed.
"He's strong." Mae said in awe.
Toppo and Dyspo showed up next to Jiren. "Well done." Toppo congratulated him.
The center column dropped and the Grand Priest announced, "50 of the 100 taks have passed. The tournament is now halfway over!"
"What will happen once it's over?" The Zen-Ohs asked.
"Once the center column is at the floor the tournament will be over and the team with the most fighters will win." The Grand Priest said.
"Ooo!" The Zen-Ohs cheered. "Who will win? Who will it be?"
"Jiren." Mae stepped out from the pillar she was behind.
"Are you going to fight me?" Jiren turned to her.
"No." She said as she walked towards him. "Not yet at least. However I do owe you an apology."
Jiren's eyes widened in surprise, "oh?"
"It was wrong of me to attack you out of rage." She said as she crept closer. "It wasn't your fault and you could have taken me down easily. That's not my true strength, it was just blind rage."
"Seems you are just a little ball of rage." Jiren said.
"Haha! We all have flaws." Mae laughed as she walked closer. Toppo and Dyspo made a move when she was in arms reach of Jiren but he held out a hand to stop them. She stared up at him and dropped her voice low, "tell me, Jiren, what is your flaw?"
Jiren stared down at her unsure what to say to this strange saiyan. She was so close to him yet he could tell her guard wasn't dropped, she wouldn't attack him. "Jiren." Toppo whispered. Jiren didn't look at him, he continued to stare down at the girl.
"Fine don't tell me." Mae shrugged. "I still plan on fighting you."
"You aren't strong enough." Jiren said.
"Maybe, maybe not." Mae grinned. "We both know that when I attacked you earlier it wasn't serious."
"Why are you apologizing for that?" He asked.
"Let's just call it personal growth." Mae smiled sweetly. "You're strong and I respect that." She looked into his eyes and saw something all too familiar. "Your eyes." She whispered.
Jiren stiffened at that. "Toppo, Dyspo. I leave the rest to you. All the ones I'm needed for are gone." He didn't break eye contact with her. As she grinned he looked over at Goku. He too wasn't worth his time.
"Perhaps for now," Mae said as she backed off. "Maybe once I figure out the rest of my plan. Or perhaps it'll come down to numbers. One way or another you will be fighting again."
She jumped up to where Goku was hiding. "I heard part of your conversation. Do you really have a plan?" Goku asked.
Mae looked back at Jiren who had begun to meditate, assured of their victory. "Nah I was bluffing. Even if we make a plan he's too strong."
"Do you still wanna fight him?" Goku asked as they jumped down.
"Of course. A challenge like that? How could I pass it up." Mae smirked. Suddenly she was thrown backwards by some fighters from universe three. "Ow!" She rubbed her head as she climbed out of the rubble.
"Mae!" Toppo said jumping down to meet her. "Fight with me."
"About that time I suppose." Mae grinned going super saiyan. "I'll fight you."
Toppo rushed her. "What did you say to Jiren?"
"Why do you care?" Mae asked as she flipped over him.
"He's my sworn friend and you said something that caught him off guard." Toppo said going for a punch.
Mae stepped up to super saiyan god. "I just pointed something out. It's not really your business. If you care so much why don't you ask Jiren."
"I see. You are stubborn aren't you." He blocked her attack.
"I can be." Mae grinned.
Toppo jumped back, "if you manage to win what will you wish for?"
"I'm surprised you are asking." Mae said, "Lord Beerus told me to take responsibility before this tournament. With the super dragon balls I can do that. I admit my need to prove myself caused a bit of trouble but I think I can make things right if I win."
"What exactly?" Toppo asked.
"If I tell you it won't be much of a surprise now would it?" Mae held her finger up. "What about you?"
"I won't be receiving them." Toppo said as he lunged for Mae.
"Ahh I see." Mae said bringing her hands up. "So Jiren has a wish."
"Everyone has a wish." Toppo said.
Mae looked over and saw Goku fighting the three robot like men from universe three. He looked at her and jumped over. "Cabba fell."
"Like I care?" Mae said. 'Vegeta will probably be upset.'
"How's your fight with Toppo?" Goku asked.
"Better than your fight looks like." Mae laughed. "Are you going to get your shit together?"
"I'm trying to take it slow." Goku said.
"Whatever works." Mae replied bringing her attention back to Toppo.
"Goku!" Caulifla yelled as she knocked away the three robot men. "Fight with me!"
