Chapter 13 - Saved

Chapter 13

Saved

Cara

Pain shot through my wing. Where were the others? Maybe they had thrown Abyss in the Pit already. Maybe they were coming for me at that instant. But I couldn't think about the future. I needed help now.

I screamed again, hoping someone would hear me. They had seen Abyss shoot me - hadn't they? So why weren't they coming?

I noticed the bushes rustling in the distance. Someone was coming, but I could tell that someone wasn't a dragon. Dragons don't make that much noise walking through the bushes. Maybe one of the Blood Seekers were coming for me. If that was the case, I was defenseless.

Indeed, the person in the bushes was a Blood Seeker. He wasn't just any Blood Seeker, he was Obsidian. He was the Blood Seeker who had murdered half of the dragons at the Harvest Ball. I tried to run away, but I slipped and fell over.

"It's OK," Obsidian said. "I won't hurt you."

"I don't believe that," I replied. "Why should I trust you when you killed so many other dragons?"

"Because I'm no longer a Blood Seeker." He rolled up his sleeve to show me his Blood Seeker tattoo. It wasn't glowing, showing that Obsidian was not an active Blood Seeker.

"Fine, Obsidian," I said.

"Just call me Oliver," he replied. "Obsidian was my old name."

"I never thought I'd hear you say that," I said. "Why did you give up your life of Blood Seeking anyways?"

"I didn't want to be controlled by Abyss. Also, I wanted to help dragons like yourself."

"I somehow doubt that."

A fiery electric blue ball grew in Obsidian's palm. His magic flew towards my wing, healing it.

"How did you do that?" I asked. Even I could heal that well.

"Abyss taught me a little bit of magic," Oliver explained.

I looked back at my wing. It looked as good as new, not to mention that it had a new shine that it hadn't had before.

"Thank you, Oliver," I said.

"No problem," he said before running off into the woods.

Suddenly, Marlene and the others came.

"Wow Cara! Your wing looks amazing. You did a nice job of healing it," Ethan said.

"Thanks," I replied, letting him believe that I had healed it myself. I looked over the group. There were only four of them. "Where's Sparrow?" I asked.

"Cara, Sparrow's dead," Marlene said as tears dripped from her electric blue eyes.
