Delirium
Astraea realized there was no point in fighting Cathal, and putting strain on the wound, she sighed and asked, "So what is going on between you and Siobhan?"
Cathal flinched not meeting her eyes he said, "Nothing"
"Careful!" She squealed, "If you drop me..." her eyes burned into him. "I'll take your word for it." She turned away looking unconvinced.
"I'm not going to drop you," Cathal assured her rolling his eyes.
Astraea rolled her eyes in response but stayed silent.
Cathal entered the guest room and gently laid her on the bed. "There you go." He smirked holding out a hand as if expecting payment. "Do you want me to stay, or should I go?"
Astraea stared at him a moment amazed at his audacity, then giggled. "I'll manage, besides if you stay you might accidently walk into my sword. I'm still annoyed with you."
"Alright, ma'am," He smiled back at her.
Astraea mumbled almost inaudibly, "Thank you for your help."
"You're welcome, ma'am"
Astraea nodded gratefully.
Cathal turned and walked out of the room, closing the door behind him.
Astraea closed her eyes but immediately opened them when she heard a growl from outside
"What the..." she thought. Carefully she rolled from the bed and looked out the window to see Katrina lying on the ground. "Shit." She swore when she saw the wolf.
Katrina lay there staring at the sky barely following what was happening around her whispering to herself "S-sorry.. I messed up again..."
Sephtis curled around Katrina's head trying to comfort her in her daze. "Siobhan how bad is it?" he asked concerned for Katrina's well being.
Astraea decided to say fuck it and check Katrina. Trying to not put too much pressure on the wound. She climbed out of the window and rushed to Katrina's side.
"What the hell is going on?" she demanded, "Why is there a wolf near Katrina?"
Cathal came running from the house "Hey! Astraea, go back to bed." He panted.
"I'm not going back inside when the person who patched me up is lying on the ground.
Cathal help her inside." Astraea said folding her arms across her chest and glaring at Cathal. "Is she hurt?" she asked Siobhan.
"I-i don't know. I think she's gone into shock. We need to get her inside."
Cathal stared back at Astraea, "Yes, you are. Siobhan is perfectly capable of helping Katrina
I don't know if she's hurt, but you are, and you need to go lay back down."
Astraea's eyes blazed, "Look I know my limits. Just help her get back in."
Cathal stood firm, "I'm not going anywhere until you get yourself back into bed and stay there."
"Stop arguing! It isn't helping and she isn't doing well!" The wolf snapped at everyone, while still trying to calm Katrina.
"Will you let me help her?" Siobhan said pushing the wolf away.
"I found the herbs you asked for," Rowan announced. He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Katrina laying on the ground.
"Of course. I am just here to help calm her," Sephtis said as he backed away.
"Thank you Rowan. And... ummm, talking wolf, could you help her inside please?" Siobhan appealed.
Katrina was still dazed, but allowed herself to be helped to her feet. "W-where are you going?" she muttered.
Rowan slipped an arm under Katrina's shoulder and helped her inside the house.
Siobhan followed Rowan while trying to sort through her supplies.
Rowan lay Katrina down on a table.
"You'll be fine m'lady. We're just inside Rowan's house." Siobhan spoke softly, stroking Katrina's hair.
"It's ok lady we are here with you just rest while we tend to your wounds." Rowan looked nervously to Siobahn.
Sephtis stood to Katrina's side, staying out of the way.
"Hey Rowan, do you have any more alcohol?" Siobhan asked
"Yes I have another bottle," Rowan pulled a bottle from the counter.
"O-okay," Katrina whispered, confusedly.
Rowan handed the bottle to Siobhan after uncorking it. "Here you are."
"Thank you." She replied taking the bottle. She turned to Katrina and examined the cut, "What happened to you?" She asked?
"Something's triggered her, I think." Astraea said watching Katrina closely.
Katrina stared up at Siobhan confused for a second, "...Mother...pots... Then Kane looked and I fell... Cart broke and panic... I-i'm sorry" she rambled in whispers fell unconscious.
"I think the best thing to do would be to first patch her up, then bring her back to consciousness," Astraea suggested letting out a sigh and sitting down next to Katrina. Astraea tried to keep awake but failed as exhaustion crept in. "Just take care of the wound first I suspect...I suspect the blood has triggered some dangerous memories of hers." She yawned and slipped off to sleep.
"Astraea, what are you doing out of your room?" Siobhan said finally noticing the girl's presence. "Cathal, what the hell?!" She barked.
"What did you want me to do? She came out here on her own!" Cathal shrugged.
"I wanted you to keep her in her room! How hard is it to keep someone half your size in a room? You've done it to me before, and had no trouble! Now take her back!" Siobhan growled through clenched teeth.
"Alright..." Cathal conceded. Sephtis looked at Siobhan and Cathal Do you know each other?"
"Yes," Siobhan replied with disdain.
"...unfortunately" Cathal said turning to the wolf.
"Very unfortunately. Now take the poor girl back to her room, and then come here."
Cathal gently picked up Astraea and carried her back to her room, laying her down on the bed. He returned shortly after.
"Can I help in any way?" Sephtis asked.
"Just stay out of my way for now." Siobhan commanded as she focused on Katrina's injury.
"Okay. I can do that." Sephtis said laying down beneath the table.
Siobhan carefully unwrapped a few layers of blood-soaked cloth from Katrina's side, "Oh no. This doesn't look good."
"I have never seen such a deep cut before." Rowan said standing over her shoulder.
"I have..." Siobhan said quietly.
"But she died, remember." Cathal reminded her.
"CATHAL SHUT UP FOR ONCE! OF COURSE I REMEMBER THAT!" her voice cracked. She looked at Rowan "I'll need a needle and thread, this cut needs stitches."
"I'm sure my sister has some let me look," Rowan said searching the room.
"You have a sister?" Siobhan asked.
"Ah, I found her sewing basket," he said holding it up like a prize. "Yes, she is away at the moment at school," Rowan said handing it to Siobhan.
"Hm, okay," Siobhan grabbed the basket, "Perfect." She quietly muttered to herself, "Now all I have to do is not kill another person... Where's the alcohol?"
"You are her best bet right now. Just focus." Sephtis assured her staring at Katrina
Rowan held Katrina's shoulders down while Siobhan tended the wound.
Siobhan carefully threaded the needle and grabbed the alcohol. After sterilizing the needle, she rinsed the wound with it. "Oh. Oh no. Its beginning to show signs of infection already. Rowan, would you happen to have any aloe around here?"
Rowan removed a pot from the windowsill snapped off parts of the plant and handed her two aloe leaves.
"Thank you." Siobhan sliced them open with her knife, and scraped the gel out. "Perfect. Well, not perfect, but better." She stitched up the cut as well as she could before covering the wound with aloe, and then layering it with pieces of cloth.
"She will be okay? Sephtis asked concernedly.
"I hope so. But there are a lot of things that could go wrong." Sioban said rinsing her hands in the sink.
"We should try to wake her, right?" Sephtis inquired looking to Rowan and Siobhan for confirmation.
"I-I don't know. Probably." Siobhan shrugged.
"Okay. Well, how do we do that?" Sephtis asked becoming more anxious by the minute.
"Ummmm..." Siobhan looked around at the others looking for a suggestion.
Sephtis shook his head. "..Okay. Umm.. Do either of you two know?"
"Shake her," Cathal put forth.
"CATHAL I TOLD YOU TO SHUT UP!" Siobhan scolded shooting down his stupid idea.
"It's probably best for her to sleep through this part," Rowan recommended, "We can wake her once the wound is bound."
Siobhan nodded, "Alright..." she said lifting Katrina up to wrap her in the clean linen.
Katrina gasped and opened her eyes slightly, totally confused "W-what are we doing?"
"Stay still, I've almost finished wrapping it," Siobhan whispered kindly.
Katrina was confused, but not able to move so she remained still, "W-wrapping what?" she asked?
"The giant cut on your stomach," Siobhan reminded her.
Katrina's head began to clear a bit as she tried to sit up, "O-oh. It isn't that bad," losing strength, she fell back unto the table her words beginning to trail off as she looked down.
"Liar," Siobhan snorted.
Unable to lift her head to Siobhan she murmured, "It was a stupid cut anyway. It will be fine... I have had worse." Her eyes started to grow heavy and closed.
"Katrina, what exactly happened?" Siobhan pressed.
"W-with?"
"How did you get cut?" Siobhan implored.
Katrina tried her best to recall, "Umm. There was a handmade pot cart in town." She remembered, shuddering and began to talk faster, but didn't make a lot of sense. "M-mother loves plants. I needed a pot for her new flower. She needed one. She needed one. I looked into one and he was there..." her voice commenced to stutter and her breathing picked up. "K-kane." she huffed, "H-he was there," she huffed again, "H-he was angry" her eyes grew slightly wider and tears started to form. "The blood... I'm sorry." Tears rolled off her cheeks as she muttered, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, Kane."
"Shhhh, calm down. Breathe, Katrina, I meant this time?" Siobhan tried to quiet her.
Katrina started shaking, "He p-pushed me,' She panted. "The pots went everywhere..." her breath caught in her throat, "Then he disappeared... I was alone. T-the villagers staring at me." The tears flowed faster, "M-mothers pot broke when I fell...then, I ran... Some cloth on the ground. I patched myself up," she huffed and muttered. "I know I shouldn't be in another village." Katrina's voice stopped as she was overcome by the wound.
