Chapter 23
Once Error was done rebooting, he was shocked. Of course he would be, he just learned that there was a mini-him and a mini-version of one of his best friends roaming around the Multiverse freely. Even if Blue said they weren't dangerous for now, and that they could easily overpower them if they were –since they were still children, and therefore their magic reserves shouldn't be as strong as it could be if they were adults–, Error was feeling a little anxious about this news.
Don't get him wrong; the idea of younger versions of Nightmare and him did sound fun, and he would love to properly meet them... But damn it, if they decided to cause chaos, it would be terrifying. He would know, if the other him –Drako, was it?– was just slightly like him, he was dangerous once motivated to cause havoc. With a younger Nightmare added, it could only be chaotic.
And brothers?! How in Toby Fox's name would Nightmare and him be brothers?! He won't deny that he was quite fond of the octopus and all of his gang of mentally unstable skeletons, but what would make them brothers? And just why would any universe have other versions of them? His codes were too glitchy to be copied, and Nightmare's... Well it did sound more logic, but why would he have a younger self? It made no sense! If there was a Nightmare, the most logic thing would be to have a Dream with him, not... Not an Error!
Thankfully, Blue was here to stop him from suffocating himself in his beanbag because of his frustration and endless interrogations. "Alright, calm down Error. I know this is disturbing; more for you than for anyone else, but you can't kill yourself in this beanbag... I want to be an uncle for real, you know?" Error raised his head to glare at Blue, who was just smiling 'innocently' in response. 'That little fucker...'
Blue's smile got bigger after a second. "Hey, do you think that Torment and Drako would accept me as an uncle?" Error sighed, knowing that now that this thought had crossed his mind, he was going to annoy the poor SOULs until they accepted... That is, if he managed to find them, of course. He rolled his eyes. "No ideA, but I guesS they coUld? Who wouldn'T want the MagnificenT Blue as an Uncle?"
Blue let out his characteristic laugh before doing an exaggerated hero pose. "Of course! The magnificent Blue is the best uncle anyone would ever dream of! Mweheh!"
That was mean of Error to encourage Blue in this. He knew it, but damn he wanted to see how they would react to Blue begging to adopt them as his nephews. Oh how sly he felt right now! He just hoped he could see this when it would happen –he had no doubt it would happen at some point, he just didn't know when–. If he had chocolate to feast on, it would be even better!
Of course, it was only if they were as peaceful as Blue described them for now. He wouldn't let one of his closest friends near someone insane... Oh he almost forgot Blue often hanged out with Nightmare's gang... Alright, maybe he would let him near someone insane. It wasn't like he couldn't defend himself, quite the opposite actually! But he really didn't know what to think about those 'Torment' and 'Drako' guys. He sighed. "I know that yoU want to Adopt them even tHough you never actUally met them but... Please be carefUL. We don't know what tHey are capaBle of. They could be danGerous for all we kNow."
Blue nodded. "Don't worry, I'll be careful, but I'm sure it will be alright!" Error nodded with a smile. Despite feeling very suspicious of them, he couldn't do anything anyway. Perhaps look through the AUs to try and observe them, just in case. Or meet them personally... He just hoped that they wouldn't try to destroy the Multiverse; there was no need for angsty teenagers wanting to kill everyone... Even though he was the first to want to see Ink get beat up by children to pay for all his terrible pranks.
He let out a soft laugh at the mental image, making Blue raise an eyebrow curiously in response. He shook his head with a smile, dismissing Blue's future question. The blue clad skeleton shrugged.
Suddenly, Blue gasped loudly, effectively gaining Error's attention. "If I meet them before you, I will introduce you all!" Error shook his head with a small smile. "I can't wAit for it."
They then spent most of the rest of the day discussing happily while watching Undernovela. Blue was mostly talking about those two teenagers, wanting to meet them as soon as possible, while Error only ask questions that none of them had the answers to. Error clearly didn't trust these two skeletons, but as long as they didn't cause too much trouble –he couldn't want them to not cause any trouble since their looks would attract attention and therefore trouble, and it would be ironic considering the fact that he mostly hanged around troublemakers–, he didn't care about them. If they annoyed Ink, it would only be better. Blue also forced him to promise that he wouldn't traumatize Red too much if he ever met Drako, and if Drako shared his passion with trashing UnderFell. Error couldn't help but being disappointed by that, as he knew that it could have been really fun... But, hey, as long as they don't traumatize Red too much, they could still do it, right?
Perhaps he could ask them to prank Ink enough for him to regret all those times the artist painted his clothes in bright glittery pink? It was all depending on how they acted... Only more reasons to find them quickly.
-------------------------------
Now, everyone in the Multiverse was aware of the two teenagers' existence and knew to not attack them and instead try to gain information –were they going to listen to the 'don't attack' part, Ink didn't know, but he couldn't do much more anyway– on them. Perhaps call Ink if they seemed dangerous, too.
Of course, the Creator going from AUs to AUs would attract unwanted attention, and that's exactly how Nightmare ended up learning about the little him in liberty, which resulted in a meeting with his boys.
The octopus was sitting on his throne, watching attentively his gang being stupid. Nothing unusual there. They were just waiting for Error to finally bring his nonexistent ass in the mansion, which could take some time, knowing the glitchy skeleton and his poor sense of time.
After a while, a glitchy portal appeared right above the only free seat, and Error fell from it, effectively landing on the chair. He was greeted warmly by all of the gang before Nightmare cleared his throat. "Alright, now that everyone's finally here..."
Error raised his hands in mock surrender. "Sorry bOss, Blue waS warning me aBout two New persons and went On and on with his plaNs to become Their uncle, couldn't Come fastEr." Nightmare raised a brow. "Oh? You heard about them?"
Error only nodded. Dust was the first to speak, groaning slightly. "Stop acting all secretive and tell us what this is all about!" The others all agreed with a silent nod while Error and Nightmare snickered quietly. "Alright. As some of you may have noticed, Ink spent the entire day going to each and every AUs."
"Yeah... Still don't know why he was running around in Candytale as if his ass was on fire." They all laughed at Cross' comparison, which almost entirely muffled Killer's response. "But we don't have asses though..."
"'m guessin' that you know why he was doin' that if you mention it?" Nightmare looked at Horror before nodding. "Yes, I know. It seems that two new Sanses had been discovered hanging around in Oceantale. Two brothers apparently."
Dust raised a brow at that information. "Cool? What does it have to do with us?" Error was the one to continue while Nightmare glared at Dust for interrupting him, which wasn't really unusual coming from the dust-covered skeleton. "Those Sanses apParently are teeNagers and..." He paused, listening to the different reactions of everyone; Cross shrugged, Dust groaned saying something about their Multiverse not being a daycare, Killer whistled and talked about it with Horror. Most Sanses were adults, so it was rare to see younger skeletons. And otherwise, they were children, not teenagers. "And they lOok strangely like NightmaRe and I."
Now, the reactions were different from one to another, but all of them were shocked. Dust fell of his chair while screaming a 'WHAT?!' full of shock and incomprehension. Cross tilted his head to the side, looking at Nightmare and Error back and forth, trying to imagine them as teenager. Killer let out a gasp, before squealing and saying how cute they probably were while Horror had quite a similar reaction to Cross'; tilting his head to the side, looking confused.
Nightmare sighed, shaking his head slightly. "This is why Ink went to warn everyone. He fears that they may cause trouble, since they are younger versions of us two... Which can be understandable, I guess." Seeing Cross smirk and open his mouth, Error quickly cut him off. "I will slap tHe first one who ask if they are NiGhtmare's and I childrEn." He wouldn't, of course, because of his phobia, but he would find something to slap whoever tried. Cross closed his mouth, making Dust burst out laughing. "Why do ya sound so done? It already happened?"
"Blue." Was his only answer, making Dust laugh more. A few also snickered after hearing that, their laugh echoing in the room after this answer and because of how done Error seemed to be. Thankfully for Nightmare, no one noticed how his tentacles twitched nor how he slightly blushed at the mention of being one of the kids' parents with Error. He didn't expect someone to think that honestly, and it caught him off guard...
After everyone calmed down, he cleared his throat and continued to speak. "If you meet them, do not try to fight them. We don't know how strong they are or if they have the same capacities as Error and I. Instead, try to talk to them... Perhaps even try to bring them here; it would be safer for them. I don't trust Ink to not try something fishy since they are possibly alternate version of us." They all nodded in understanding.
"Alright then, but if they attack?" Nightmare sighed, gently rubbing his forehead. "I... Guess that you can try to defend yourself, but I want you all to retreat if it becomes too dangerous. No matter if you outnumber them, as previously stated, we don't know what they are capable of. They might be kids, but it's best not to underestimate them."
Error sighed at the sight of a Dust clearly wanting to test their strength. "Blue told Me that thEy weren't causing aNy trouble when Ocean saW them. I doubt thEy would attacK you without anY reason." They all pretended to not hear the 'Damn it...' said by Dust after Error said this.
"He alSo told me thAt they Introduced themseLves as Torment and DraKo." Cross hummed at this information, his brows furrowing. "Hmm... Alright but... Which one is who?"
"Torment is my teenager look-alike, and Drako is the one looking like Error." Cross nodded at Nightmare, silently thanking him. Horror was the next one to ask a question. "And there's no Dream? No offense Boss, but it's weird to have a Nightmare without a Dream... And with an Error instead." Nightmare shrugged.
"They didn't mention one, thankfully. But it might be because a Dream wouldn't be considered as a threat unlike Error and I. So, yes, it might be possible, but I haven't heard anything about it... Error, did Blue told you something?" Error shook his head. "Nope, no Dream that They know of. I was actually quEstionning it mySelf when Blue was rambling about wanting to be their unCle."
Nightmare hummed in response. "I surely hope there isn't a second Dream, I don't need more positive arrows thrown at me." They all knew that it wasn't the truth and that he just didn't want to see another him not getting along with his twin, but nobody commented on this.
Killer raised his hand and spoke after Nightmare nodded toward him. "The Nigh-... Torment, he is a 'you' before or after corruption?" Dust looked at him as if he was stupid. "Almost no one knows what Nightmare looked like before, Ocean wouldn't have known, idiot!"
Killer puffed his cheeks in a childish manner. "Ocean could have told Ink because of the Error... Huh Drako, sorry. He could have described Torment and Dream could have recognized him as Nightmare before corruption! Ah! Now you're the idiot!" He stuck out his tongue at Dust, who groaned in response, rolling his eyes.
Nightmare chuckled a little at the sight of this interaction before answering, a fond smile on his face. Damn he loved his idiots, even if they acted like children most of the time. "After corruption."
Killer squealed once again. "Oh my Toby Fox! A mini octopus! I need to meet those two!" Nightmare and Error only sighed in response. It was a predictable reaction coming from Killer and Cross probably wouldn't stay quiet for long... "They sound adorable!" Called it.
Dust suddenly smirked, leaning more on his chair. "You do realize that we're talking about a little Error?" Cross looked at him in confusion. "Mhm?" His smirk only got bigger. "A mini chocolate stealer~"
Error snickered while Cross' face seemed to become paler –which in itself should be impossible since his bones were already white–, his eyelights shrinking slightly. "Oh HELL NO!"
That's all that was needed for everyone to burst into laughter while Cross began to panic over his chocolate. "Error already steals more than usual since a few weeks, I don't need a second one!"
Now, that made Error pause. "Wait whAt? I don't stEal more than Usual?" Cross frowned at Error's comment. "Then who steals my chocolate? The others don't know where I hide it and I can tell there are more missing than what you usually take!"
And thus began the search of the chocolate stealer, the first subject of the meeting completely forgotten. None of them wanted to admit that it was really Drako, as it would mean that he somehow knew where their base was.
-------------------------------
"You're already making him go crazy! Look at this chaos!" He glared at his brother, who just smirked and raised his hands in an 'innocent' gesture. "HeY it'S NoT My FaUlT wE bOtH LiKE HiS ChOcolATe!"
The little one sighed, knowing he was just as guilty as his friend, who was stealing for the both of them. "Seriously though Drako, you should have been more discreet!" Drako shrugged. "WeLl ExCuSE Me iF yOu 'CrOsSeS' CoUNt yoUr DamN ChOcolaTe! EvEN I doN't dO ThAT!"
Demise snickered. "He got a point Blade, why does he even do that? And you too? You did it?" Blade huffed at Demise's intervention. "Of course I did! He always stole my chocolate, it was needed!" He was still doing it, of course.
"YoU wEre tOtUrINg YouRsElf By KeEpINg In ChEck HoW MuCh I sToLe..." Drako chuckled while Blade turned his head to the side, clearly pouting. Demise only shook his head with a smile. He was now familiar with their family quarrels, which most often than not, were just childish and friendly arguments. He was happy to now be a part of this family, and he would protect them with his life. Considering the fact that he was immortal, he wasn't going to ever let them down. And he knew that the others wouldn't either.
He looked at Torment, who sighed, closing the book that he was reading. "As much as I enjoy the panic and negativity we caused through the Multiverse, we got caught. Now, everyone knows about us." Demise shrugged. "Heh, it was bound to happen at some point anyway. We all knew it could and would eventually happen."
"You're right... But what should we do now?" Blade and Drako stopped arguing over chocolate, silently listening to Torment and Demise. The only other sound was coming from the one-way portal, which still displayed Cross panicking over his missing chocolate and Error assuring him that he didn't stole it this time. Which wasn't a lie per say but wasn't entirely the truth; it was another Error who stole it after all.
"We shouldn't do anything, just continue to walk around the Multiverse and give them the information we want them to know. They will see that we mean no harm if they aren't as stupid as the people we once knew..." Demise paused. "Well beside the fact that we are from a different Multiverse, we don't have much to hide anyway."
"Not like it would be really hard to be smarter than them..." Drako only snickered in response, knowing fully well how right that statement was. "We MuST aCt oBliViOus, OthERwIse tHeY wOn'T tRuSt Us As EaSIlY."
Blade tilted his head to the side, seeming confused. "Oblivious to what?" Psyche giggled. "Guess he won't have to do much." Drako rolled his eyes with a smile. "ThAT wE kNow ThEY kNow aBouT Us AnD WAnT InForMAtION, Of CouRse."
Torment hummed softly. "Perhaps we should also act as if we didn't know about our counterparts, just in case. Some might be stupid enough to think that we are planning something with them."
"I mean, they already think that you are this Multiverse's Error and Nightmare's sons so..." Torment and Drako cringed at the idea of being their sons. Well, it wasn't really that the problem, it was more imagining each others –even if they technically weren't the same persons– together in a relationship... They weren't into incest, thank you very much. "RiGhT... We AlSO wiLl nEeD tO mAkE tHem KnOW ThAT we aReN't ReLAtEd To ThEM..."
"Does that mean that we can go in different AUs without hiding? I mean, they know about us now, after all..." Torment shrugged. "I think so? Hiding is useless now, anyway. Perhaps we should stay discreet in some AUs, but otherwise, I think that we can walk around freely. Hiding would only make them more suspicious of us anyway."
"Now, question without any connection to the actual subject... Do you think Nightmare's gang will guess that it's Drako who steals the chocolate?" Drako snickered while Blade shook his head with a frown. "Unless they catch him in the act, no chance. Even I had trouble finding out who was stealing mine before, and there weren't many possible culprits."
Torment also shook his head. "No, they won't. They don't even know that we know where their hideout is located. Plus, we aren't supposed to know them, nor that one of them hides chocolate in improbable places." He looked at Blade pointedly, who only smiled awkwardly, remembering all the times he was scolded for hiding his chocolate stash in weird places... Like Nightmare's books, to just name one example. Didn't end well for him and the books.
Gaster gently knocked on the door of their room –in case they were plotting some kind of Multiversal chaos that he shouldn't know about if he wanted to preserve his sanity a bit longer– before opening it, noticing the portal toward Nightmare's mansion and the people on the other side of it, with two who he easily recognized. He didn't question it anyway, as previously stated, he wished to keep his sanity a little bit longer. "Dinner's ready, sons.
They all smiled –well except Drako, who grimaced at the mention of dinner– and nodded, following their father toward the kitchen and discovering their two younger brothers already at the table. They still had some troubles calling Gaster 'dad', but they liked their new family. It felt at home, more than any place ever did in their Multiverse.
They quickly sat down and started eating –once again, except Drako–, discussing about random topics; varying between the different plants in Dragontale to the chaos they were slowly causing in the Multiverse.
Let's just say that Gaster didn't like the fact that people thought his sons were someone else's children. Even if they did look the same. The threatening look in his eyes made the four brothers smile happily. He cared for them, and just for this, they liked him. It felt nice to have a family.
