Chapter 18

Once the breakfast was done, Torment and Drako did the dishes –which was their way of thanking Gaster for letting them stay, as they said– before going back in their room, all of them waiting their respective turn to go to the bathroom. Once all of them were washed –thank Toby Fox the gang had explained how bathrooms worked to Drako otherwise he probably would have had some serious troubles while cleaning himself, like that time when he managed to make the damn bathroom explode, somehow–, they all decided of what they would do for the day. After Torment thanked Drako for the clothes, of course. He really liked them!

Reaper decided to stay with Cross to help him learn how to fly. During this time, Drako would go back to the Anti-Void to try his 'dragon magic'. Torment decided to accompany him –he didn't really let Drako chose whether he wanted Torment to come or not– to see just how impressive it could be. The dragons promised to stay near the house, just in case. Not like they were defenseless anyway, they still had their magic, as confirmed in the morning. Drako also decided to make Torment promise he would stay at a safe distance. Better safe than sorry after all, he didn't want to accidently hurt his brother.

Thus, Drako opened a portal to the Anti-Void and went inside, soon followed by Torment. Cross and Reaper just went in front of the house and immediately started to train.

"Ok PSyChE, I kNow It HaDn'T BeEN ThReE DaYS lIkE We SaId, BUt CaN We StART tO tRAIn?" He felt Psyche shrug in his SOUL. "Alright, as you want Glitchy. If you're ready." He nodded in response.

"Ok, so... You need to take your dragon form first. In this form, you can't summon weapons like Gaster Blasters, bones or even your strings. On the contrary, you can't use your dragon powers while in your skeleton form." Drako hummed in response. "DaMn, ThAt'S nOt GoOD... WaIt WhY DoEs CrOSs AnD ReAPeR StIlL hAvE ThEIrs ThEN?" He felt Psyche shrug. "No idea, probably because their dragon magic is less powerful or inexistent?" Drako only sighed in response.

"What is not good?" Drako turned his head toward Torment in confusion before remembering that he couldn't hear Psyche. "PsYcHE ToLD Me I CaN't UsE My MaGiC In My DrAGon FoRM. WeLL I OnLY HaVE My 'DrAgOn MaGic'." Torment frowned slightly after hearing that. "You're right, this is not good. A good reason to train now."

Drako nodded and closed his eyes, concentrating on his other form. The weird feeling of his body changing of height and form came back with the transformation. He opened his eyes when the transformation was done, hearing Torment whistle at the sight of his dragon form, even if he already saw it sooner the previous day. "AlRiGHT WhAT'S NeXT?" He chose to talk normally, and not like an 'angry lizard', like Psyche had previously said.

"We're going to start with the cliché, probably most destructive and easier to control, alright? Well I think that it's going to be easier since it function almost like a Blaster, but instead of a Blaster shooting, it's you."

Drako stuttered in response. "W-WhAT Do yOu MeAN 'It'S Me'?! I Am NoT A bLASTEr!" Now, that sentence seemed to spike Torment's interest, which was understandable. It wasn't every day that he heard his brother claim that he wasn't a Blaster. He was almost certain that it never happened, actually. Maybe some members of the gang –who he also considered as his brothers– said that when they were drunk, but not Drako, at least. "No you're not, but you have the same ability. You need to concentrate and gather your magic in your mouth, as if you were a Gaster Blaster. Once you're done 'charging', you need to focus and shoot. Frankly, this is just like making a Blaster attack. It's just the way the magic is used that can be weird, but really it's the same... Well there's a chance for this attack to be more destructive than a Blaster since it comes directly from you and you're shooting pure destructive magic, unlike a Blaster whose magic is slightly less powerful because you invoke the skull with the blast. A Gaster Blaster is made so it isn't too strong, as to not use too much energy and therefore offer you the possibility of shooting more than one at the same time. Of course, in dragon form, you can only shoot once at the time, but the damage are greater."

Drako sighed, nodding to Psyche's words. They were right, it sounded easy. But was it really? He could only try if he wanted to know, so he concentrated on his magic, gathering it in his mouth the best he could. It was really uncomfortable; he was feeling pure magic in his mouth, and the only time it has happen before in his life was when he was throwing up magic after being poisoned. Not a good experience, but hey, he became immune to poisons afterward, so it wasn't that bad!

After a while, he felt as if he was done charging his attack and opened his mouth, mentally imagining himself shooting a Blaster. It worked and he managed to shoot his attack, making Psyche clap within his SOUL. "Well that was impressive." He nodded as a thank toward Torment.

"I'm proud of you Glitchy! Now let's try a few more time, alright?" Drako nodded and concentrated once again on his magic. After a few seconds, he shot once again.

After a few more try, Drako could confidently say he controlled this ability. Psyche was right; it wasn't hard at all and very similar to a Blaster. Disturbing at most, but not difficult. "Perfect! Now for the next one, you might have more trouble since it mostly need concentration and imagination. There is no real way of doing it right; you need to feel your magic and chose to do it, but it can be quite random. Not in the sense where you can't know what it's going to do, but the damages will be really hard to control. It could go from just a bit around you to quite a few meters away, or even more. I don't really know the limit honestly."

"HuM tHiS Is GrEAt ANd AlL BuT... WhAT Is It ANd WhAT Do I nEed TO dO?" As much as he loved Psyche, they weren't explaining much right now. "Oh... Yeah. I'd explain that by 'you can crystalize things around you'. Not sure if this is really how to call it, but it's self-explanatory at least. Now, as I was saying, you will need to train more than once for this one because the result can be very random and unstable... You might want to tell Torment to go at a safe distance or on some of your strings up, since you're most likely going to crystalize the floor. If there were walls, you would probably touch them too, but there isn't so you have less to worry about."

Drako frowned, not liking how random this seemed to be. "ToRMeNT, Go On sOmE Of My sTrINGs pLeAse, ApPaReNTlY tHiS oNE iS ReaLlY RaNdoM anD I DoN'T wAnt TO hUrt YOu." Torment was going to protest, but seeing the serious look in his brother's eyes, he sighed and teleported on some of the strings decorating the nonexistent ceiling.

"Alright so you need to focus your magic around you. As if it was surrounding you, to protect you, because I think this is most likely the way you're supposed to use that. Once you feel the magic around you, you must concentrate to make it physical, and therefore crystalize the surroundings. As I already told you, this is quite random since you don't control it, so try a small zone first. Once you'll be able to control it, you will be able to choose how far you want to use it. It's not using this ability that will be hard, it's controlling it."

Drako nodded and let his magic surround him, as if he was projecting his aura. After a few seconds, he frowned and focused more on it, trying to make it physical, as his Voice friend said. He jumped in surprise when everything –or nothing, since this is the Anti-Void, there isn't much things– that was approximatively at ten meters away from him suddenly turned into crystal. "H-HuM... WaS ThAT wHAt I wAs SuPPoSeD To DO?"

"Well I hoped it wouldn't be that far for a first try, but I guess, yes. You did great, now the problem is to control it... You can remove the crystal just by concentrating on it." He did just that, and the crystal disappeared. "Great! Now you're going to do it a few more time to train, firstly to get used to that ability. We'll try controlling it later." Drako nodded. "AlRIgHT."

He tried once again. This time, the crystal only went three meters away from him. The next time, it was eight. After that, one. Then fifteen. He was starting to get frustrated, and the more frustrated he was, the more the crystallization went far away since he was less concentrated. After a few more try just as random, Psyche spoke again. "Okay, I think that's enough. We're going to test something else and we'll try controlling it another time, since I can feel you getting more and more frustrated, and this won't help at all."

Drako sighed and nodded, knowing he wouldn't make any progress at this rate. "Now, last thing... Which is going to be harder since I can't guide you." Drako tilted his head in confusion. Torment could be seen from the strings, taking pictures of his adorable brother. Drako didn't notice though. "WhAT dO YoU MeAN pSyChE?"

"Well dragons are known to have the ability to influence environment in different ways. Some more than others. The problem is that Destiny and Karma didn't put the knowledge of your element in me while creating me sooooo... Yeah, it's going to be hard to explain since I don't know which one I'm supposed to train. Well not the fire one I think, otherwise you would have shot fire instead of pure magic earlier. But other than that, I have no idea of which one could be yours."

Drako rolled his eyes. "GrEat, It'S GoING tO Be FuN..." He felt Psyche pat his head gently. "Yep!" He could feel their smile in their voice. "So... The elements are fire, water, earth and wind. As stated previously, I don't think it's the fire one but be can never be too sure so... Those dragons mostly gain their energy around warm places or literal fire. We are not going to start a forest fire just to test so you might want to go somewhere like Hotland to test it out. It's the hottest place I can think of right now."

"HoTLaND? BuT WhAT If SOmEOne SeE Me? Or If I dEsTRoY SoMEThiNG?" Torment jumped from the strings, going near Drako. "What do you mean? Do you need to go into a different universe?" Drako nodded in response. "PsyCHe SaID tHAt DRAGoNS ArE BoUnd To AN eLeMeNt And UsE It To Be StROngEr, So THey WaNT Me To Go TO HOtLDaND To SeE If My ELEMenT Is FiRe... WhAT Do I Do...?"

Torment hummed in response. "Well I don't think people would make the connection between this Multiverse's Error and you if you're in dragon form... But just in case, I would recommend an empty AU... Dusttale or Killertale, perhaps? If Killer and Dust are with my alternate version, they shouldn't be there... But you need to suppress your aura, so they don't come to look. I'm already surprised we didn't catch some people's attention while being in Dragontale... Perhaps the AU is still too young for them to know it's not supposed to be like this... Or they can't fully sense it yet... Eh, I don't know. Can I come either way? Just in case?"

'Do You tHinK It'S SaFE FoR HiM TO CoME?' He felt Psyche shrug in his SOUL. "I guess? He is strong enough to protect himself, and I doubt you'd hurt him... And even if there was an accident, he can still teleport." Drako sighed. "Ok CoME On BrOtHER." Torment nodded and teleported directly on his back, making Drako sigh in annoyance, muttering things about not being 'a damn horse', before pausing. "HuH PsYChE? YoU SaiD I CouLDN't UsE My MaGic In tHIs FOrm SO hOW dO I gO tO A dIfFeReNt Au?"

"... Fuck." Strangely enough, Drako could picture Psyche with glasses, looking through a book supposed to explain how he and his magic functioned to find the answer. "Shut up Glitchy, it's not true!" He felt something lightly hit his head and smiled. He liked to think that it was the book. He smiled even widely after hearing Psyche groan in annoyance. He didn't know if they were annoyed because he was somehow right –he hoped it was the case– or because they also had the picture in mind because of him. He swore he could almost see his idea of what Psyche looked for a moment, but it only lasted a second. Perhaps it was his imagination. Probably, even. Not like he cared, he just found it funny.

"Now, if you're done making fun of your poor Voice guide. I think you can still open portals but it might be harder, not sure though. Try, and if you can't, just ask Torment to do it I guess." Drako nodded in response, concentrating on the creation of a portal, which wasn't hard for him. He was used to make portals even with almost all his magic supplies empty.

So it wasn't a surprise when a portal opened in front of him. The surprise was more of how big the thing was, even if it was to be expected, as he himself was bigger. But of course, with a bigger portal, the energy necessary was bigger too. Not like it disturbed him, he had plenty of magic to consume anyway. "So it does work... Nice. Well let's go Glitchy!"

Drako nodded and went inside the portal, his goopy brother still on his back. Maybe Torment should have taken his passive form, just in case... Well, they probably won't meet anyone anyway. Drako entered this Multiverse's Dusttale and ended in Snowdin apparently, if the dust-covered snow was anything to go by. He looked around him, surprised to see quite a few trees destroyed by what he guessed were Blasters' attacks. Snowdin's buildings were also partially destroyed by the same attacks and some bones were still sticking out of some dust piles. Torment whistled in surprise. "Damn this Dust destroyed his AU more than ours."

"It SEeMS SO..." Was his only response while he was examining the remnant of the AU while going toward Hotland before pausing. "COuLD YoU JuST tELePOrT Us IN HoTLaND PlEAse?" Torment raised a brow in amusement. "Too lazy to walk?" Drako let out a dramatic gasp. "HeY, I'M StILl A SaNs, AnD I tHinK I'M aLrEAdY WaY ToO pRoDuCtIve!"

'Blue wouldn't have agreed with that...' Torment snickered but teleported them anyway, oblivious to the thought of his brother but, sensing his growing sadness, he sighed and gently rubbed Drako's head, making the big dragon purr silently in response. He also felt Psyche pat his back gently –which was a weird feeling since he already had a weight on his back– to comfort him. "WeLl NoW, whAT dO I Do?"

"Fly above the lava to see if you feel stronger near it. That's all you need to do, then we can move." Drako hummed and opened his wings, throwing himself from the edge. He smiled when Torment started to scream bloody murder at the sudden fall and felt his brother's arms and tentacles wrap themselves firmly around his neck as to not fall. Once just above the lava, he went up again, flying just above it and waiting a few seconds before shaking his head. "... NoPE, I dOn'T fEel aNyThINg."

"So I was right... Welp, now you got the gist of it, no? Search for a place with a lot of wind, with nature or water to try the three others." Drako sighed after hearing this, knowing it would be harder to find empty AUs now. Perhaps... "HeY tOrMeNt, Do YoU ThINk We CoULd mAnAgE NoT To Be SEeN In OcEaNtAlE?"

"Hmm... Perhaps? This AU is almost only water, and people can't be everywhere so... Yeah, you can try I guess. And even if we meet some people, as long as it's not someone who knows about the Multiverse, it should be okay... Even if they will probably be scared at the sight of a big dragon flying above them. And even then, if we don't attack, we should be fine... I hope." Torment accented his answer with a shrug, not seeming to really care if they were discovered, unlike his glitchy ride. They both could easily defend themselves, but Drako would rather not start the Multiversal problems so soon, even if he knew they would be inevitable in the end.

And so, he opened a portal toward Oceantale and went inside after being sure there wasn't any ship nearby. Just in case. He didn't waste time and directly went flying above the water, watching warily his surrounding for a possible threat. After a few seconds, he sighed and thought about the two next elements. "WhErE Do YoU tHiNK tHeRE WoULD Be a LoT Of WinD?"

"Birdtale, perhaps? I once heard a Birdtale copy boast about his flying skills because he was used to fly through strong gusts of wind in the sky? And I know that the stronger ones sometimes try to fly near tornados, which are extremely present in some places?" Drako hummed and nodded, remembering himself about the codes of the Birdtale AUs. Torment was right; the AU was made to train its habitants to fly, it would probably be their best bet. "AlRiGHt. OFf tO BiRdTaLe We Go."

Without further ado, Drako opened a portal to the AU, not leaving anything behind him but the ever-present water of the universe. He ended up in a deserted part of the AU and looked around him, nodding to himself after making sure nobody was around. Once sure of it, he flew up, frowning slightly. He had no idea of where he should go in the AU!

Torment didn't seem to know either, therefore, they decided to just fly around aimlessly. After an hour of doing so, they reached a canyon where the wind was stronger, making them sigh in relief. Drako flew around the gust of wind for a few minutes before shaking his head and go back, not used to fight against strong wind yet, making Torment sigh.

"Well that was useless... What do we need to try next?" Drako also sighed, getting tired of flying around the Multiverse like this. They were going to get caught at this rate! "NaTuRE." Torment hummed. "Then we can go back in Dra-" A shifting in a near bush caught their attention, making both of them frown. "Home. There is enough nature there, right?" Torment wouldn't risk saying their AU's name when they didn't know what was in the bush. It could be just an animal, as it could be a possible threat. "... I GuEsS So, lEt'S GO."

Drako went back into their AU –he still had trouble registering he now had an AU–, not waiting to see what was in the bush. He landed in the clearing where he met the earth wolves and sighed. "I wOuLD HaVE pReFeRreD to CoNTiNUE tHE TeSTs AwAy FrOM tHis AU... Do YoU ThINk ThAt It WaS a ThReAT?" Torment shrugged, looking back to make sure they hadn't been followed. "No idea but I'd rather not know if this means we stay safe." Drako nodded, agreeing with his brother on this point.

He then concentrated on the nature around him, trying to see if he felt something different. He started to thought it was useless, when suddenly, a strange warmth enveloped his SOUL, making him feel stronger and at peace. It made sense that he never noticed before, he wasn't searching since he transformed for the first time, and he mostly stayed in the air when in dragon form. "I... ThInK tHAt ThIS Is IT? PsYcHE?"

"Yep, that's what we were looking for! Great job Glitchy! Now, you need to let your SOUL guide you. You're supposed to be able to control the environment here, and for most dragons, it doesn't need to be taught. They know what to do from the moment they are born. Of course, the more the dragon is old, the more his magic is developed and his abilities are great, but usually no training is really needed."

Drako hummed in response, concentrating on his SOUL and listening to its soft beating in his chest. After a few seconds, he let out an appeased sigh, and at the same time, the ground underneath him rose a little, making him higher than the rest of the clearing. Flowers of different kind and sort grew out of the ground around him, decorating the clearing with many colors. Some lianas-like roots came out of the ground, surrounding him and dancing around his form in a way not so different from Torment's tentacles. Some thorns and flowers were on them, decorating them and adding a form of beauty to the plants, who seemed ready to protect Drako from any harm. He looked around him in curiosity and amazement. Him, the feared Destroyer of AUs, just created such beautiful plants! Suck it, Inky!

Torment whistled in appreciation at the sight in front of him, gently grabbing one of the root with a tentacle and examining it. It could and would cause quite some pain to someone if they were attacked by them. "Not bad, Drako!" Drako smiled happily while Psyche praised him. "Perfect Glitchy! You did just great! Of course, since you're calm and in no danger, you made flowers and those... Tentacles-roots-thingy, but if you were to use that ability in a fight, it could be quite dangerous! Well we're done for the dragon's magic! We'll just need to train more on the crystallization, but other than that, we're done!"

"GrEaT! ToRMeNt, We'Re dOnE FoR ToDAY! LeT'S Go BAck To SeE CrOSs AnD ReAPER!" Torment nodded and got off of Drako's back. The dragon then took back his original appearance with a smile, and both started to walk toward their new home. It was almost noon, so the timing was perfect for dinner.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Drako discovered his dragon abilities. It wasn't the most interesting chapter, but it was needed. Also, this was technically the first time they left Dragontale, even if Cross and Reaper weren't with Torment and Drako this time-
I really like the image of Psyche reading a manual on how Drako functions-
I almost forgot to publish this chapter too-
Anyway, I hope that you enjoyed this chapter! ^^
Lunar's out!~
