Chapter 13
For a while, there was only darkness and coldness. Nothing else. Pure darkness accompanied by a freezing cold, making them shiver slightly while they fell into the Void. They couldn't move, couldn't talk and couldn't see, which was annoying, but at the same time strangely relaxing. Suddenly, they felt their codes being taken apart and put back together again and again. They screamed, wanting to beg for it to stop, even though they weren't making any sound. Was that what Error felt when he fell?
They could only imagine how much the poor Destroyer suffered, considering that he just got out of an ambush before going through this. His injures weren't healed, making them guess how much they must have hurt him during this fall, while his codes were being tortured. That was one more reason to hug their friend to death –Reaper couldn't help but laugh internally through the pain at this thought– when they'll saw him.
Soon, the pain stopped. The darkness evaporated and a comforting warmth replaced the coldness. They landed in what seemed to be giant hands, which cradled them gently. They could now see, but still couldn't move. A voice, coming from a light blue and white silhouette, started talking.
"It seems our Chosen Child's friends arrived early. Sadly, some are missing..."
Another voice, this time coming from a golden and red silhouette, answered, seeming to look at them attentively.
"It seems so. Do you think they'll need some modifications?"
The first voice stayed silent, as if thinking, while the both of them started to heal the wounds they gained from the fight earlier. They felt the healing magic envelop their body, offering a feeling of peace and protection making them sigh in contentment.
"Perhaps, not the same as Drako, but some might be needed."
The second silhouette moved, as if nodding. They quickly finished healing them, and the three swore they heard the red being mumbled something about how they were easier to heal than Drako. It confused Reaper greatly. Who was Drako? Perhaps someone who fell before them? But the God of Death had no memory of someone named like this. The second being gently grabbed Nightmare, making the King of Negativity tense up.
"I'll take care of this little one while you deal with the two others, alright Destiny?"
The second being paused before answering.
"Alright Karma, but you might want to let me take Fate's strings off Nightmare's SOUL. He and Reaper are also bound to a Balance after all."
Once again, the being in red nodded before gently taking Nightmare's SOUL out of his chest. The SOUL, in the form of a black apple with some specks of teal blue and purple, barely visible. The SOUL was effectively tied lightly in red strings. They weren't digging in the SOUL like Error's, but they were still there, meaning they had a fate forced on them in their Multiverse. The second being then pulled out Reaper's SOUL, showing a white upside-down heart fading to a light blue. Some speck of black, symbol of his death magic, were also present on it. Once again, some red strings were placed around the heart.
Destiny warned them of the possibility of it hurting a little, before gently grabbing the strings on Nightmare's SOUL, letting their magic destroy them before doing the same for the Reaper. Both of them suddenly felt as if they had been lifted from a weight they were used to drag behind them.
Once that was done, Karma went to work on Nightmare, changing his codes slightly with a hum. The negative skeleton swore he heard them say something about not being able to make them like Drako since he couldn't have tentacles and wings. Something about dragon octopuses. He wasn't sure of how to feel about it. He could feel Destiny's amusement after hearing this.
While Karma was working on Nightmare, Destiny started to work on Cross and Reaper, starting with the God of Death. They changed his codes and smiled a little, modifying some of them, knowing the change would please the God. They then turned their attention toward Cross, changing his codes the same way they did for Reaper. Both felt weird once that was done, but didn't know why or what the Deity did. They then talked about offering them their 'blessing' and did one more thing. They didn't really know what, as they started to feel really sleepy, falling asleep in the Deities' hands because of their appeasing magic.
"Well, we are done. Where do we drop them?"
Destiny stayed silent, seeming to think about the possible answers.
"Why not the Anti-Void? Drako will feel their presence like this, and won't have to go look for them."
Karma nodded, opening a portal to the other Multiverse's Anti-Void.
"Take care of our Chosen Child and enjoy your new life."
After this was said, Karma gently put Nightmare in the Anti-Void, soon imitated by Destiny, who put Cross and Reaper right after. Karma closed the portal and they smiled at each others, happy knowing that their Chosen Child will have his friends with him. Granted, he was going to be heartbroken at the loss of his other friends, but nothing could be done now. Otherwise, Fate would feel Karma and Destiny's magic and would find their child, making his life a living hell once more. As much as they wanted to bring the decreased back, it was for the best if they didn't. They were already lucky that Fate wasn't looking during this party, otherwise they would have seen the three jump into the Void and would have pestered the two Deities to give them and Drako back. No, they couldn't afford to be caught now, not when their child was so close to healing. It was the start of a new life for him, and they will make sure he can be happy, even if it takes some sacrifices. They smiled and teleported away to their Realm, where Fate wouldn't come annoy them while they watched their Chosen Child and his friends.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'I knew I shouldn't have agreed to this...' It was the only thing Drako could think about while being crushed –not literally, of course, those two were nothing compared to what Drako had been stuck under in the past– by his two new brothers, who were trying to keep him in place while Gaster was making dinner. See, after explaining his story, Gaster offered him to eat, to which he responded that he didn't eat, and hadn't for eons now. This alone awakened Gaster's father instinct, who rushed into the kitchen to make him some food while insulting everyone in his old Multiverse. Granted, the past Destroyer could easily carry the two children on him, but seeing them so determined to keep him in place managed to stop him from running away. They were also the reason he couldn't have continued to watch over his family –he wanted to see them crash that party, damn it!–, since they ordered to be hugged by the taller skeleton, who could only sigh in resignation. He couldn't reach his necklace while holding them, sadly. He really wanted to look at how his friends were doing, since he felt something weird coming from the necklace, and he didn't like it.
"You know you love this situation, stop complaining!" And Psyche wasn't helping at all, making remarks from time to time or making fun of him gently. They were enjoying this situation, he could feel it!
It wasn't long before they heard Gaster said that dinner was done, and Sans jumped on Drako's shoulder while Papyrus quickly grabbed his hand, leading him toward the kitchen, which also served as a dining room. He could only sigh and follow his new little brother. He gently rubbed the dragon's head while following this Papyrus. 'Perhaps I should tell them to start thinking about nicknames? This AU will obviously meet the rest of the Multiverse one day, so better be prepared... Wait, will Gaster fall into the Core or not since Monsters aren't in the Underground? Is there even a Core to begin with?'
"So many questions, you really are a curious one Glitchy!" Psyche giggled while Drako practiced his poker face with a sigh. 'And you're an annoying one, Psyche.' He giggled after hearing his guide let out an offended gasp.
Quickly –too quickly for the ex-Destroyer's liking–, they arrived into the kitchen, where Gaster was standing, his arms crossed and an expression that screamed 'You won't escape this young man!' on his face. Drako shivered, having the feeling he wasn't going to be able to convince him to let skip meals. As if Nightmare wasn't annoying enough with this! 'I think that I just found something worse than an entire Multiverse ganging up against me...' He heard Psyche sigh.
"You really need to get your priorities checked..." Drako could only scoff mentally. 'You never saw Nightmare when he and the gang force fed me! It's terrifying! More than Ink's little army of Blind Judges!' The black boned skeleton could feel his Voice companion's exasperation, making him smile slightly while he was analyzing the room for possible ways to escape. "Sit and eat, young man."
"I'm EoNs OLd FoR ToBy FOx'S SaKe, Da-" He paused, looking at the two children present, who were looking at him too with all the innocence of the Multiverse in their eyes. "-Rn IT."
Gaster laughed at his auto-censure, seeming proud and amused at the same time, making the Destroyer glare at him. It wasn't his fault he had a soft spot for children and wanted to protect their innocence while it lasted! Seriously, it was getting rare, he remember an AU named LittleLust where despite being children for the most part, the habitants were anything but innocents. It broke his SOUL to see this, but didn't stop him from going to see them from time to time and offering them gifts.
Drako sighed, getting led by Papyrus to a chair that he gently pushed for him before taking the one next to him, with a little bit of difficulty since they were way too big for a Babybone like him. He never noticed his father using his magic to lift him a little bit. The Sans jumped on his brother's lap, who would probably feed him.
Finally, Drako looked toward the food on the table and almost choked on his breath. It was a lot, way too much for four persons –unless there was Horror in the group, that skeleton could eat astronomical amount of food–!
The teenager slowly turned his gaze toward his new 'father' –that made even less sense than his makeshift family for Toby Fox's sake! He was older than him!–, who was staring at him, almost as if daring him to refuse to eat. He opened his mouth to try to negotiate, only for the adult to frown, making him close his mouth without saying anything. He looked multiple times between the food and his father, almost hoping for it to suddenly disappear so he could go away so he could go away without eating.
Of course, it didn't happen, and soon, Drako was looking at a plate full of more food than what he ate in eons –and no, Psyche, he wasn't exaggerating at all... Not too much at least–. He almost wanted to curse, but refrained himself after looking at his new baby brothers. "WhY mUsT I EaT? It'S PoINTlEsS AnD A WaStE OF TiME!"
Gaster never answered, only looking at him expectantly while eating his food –by the way, his plate was clearly less full, and it annoyed the ex-Destroyer–. Suddenly, he felt a little bit of pain in his SOUL, barely noticeable –at least for him, he was used to constant pain after all, and even SOUL pains didn't hurt much after a bit– but still there, making him froze in his motion to grab the fork. He placed a hand on his SOUL, feeling it beat a little faster, and frowned slightly. "Is there something wrong Drako?"
"ThErE'S... My SOUL... It hURTs a BIt... I dON'T KnOW WhY...?" Gaster frowned at this answer, getting up and coming close to his new son. "What do you mean, it hurts?"
Drako shook his head, not being able to explain it. It felt weird and a little uncomfortable, but it wasn't like the pain he felt while getting stabbed repeatedly or when Ink created a new AU. But with the slight pain came an inexplicable desire. "Go Drako." He could feel that Psyche felt it too just by this intervention. He sighed and got up.
"I NeED To Go SOmEWHeRe." Gaster frowned. "While you're hurt? It isn't a way of skipping dinner, right?" Drako just laughed in response. "Oh PlEaSE, ThIS PaIN iS NoTHiNG! It'S UnCOMfOrTaBLe AT mOST. ANd nO, ThAT's NoT It, I JuST HAvE ThE FEElInG I nEEd tO gO." His father sighed.
"Alright, but you better come back fast and eat your food or I'll force it into you myself!" Drako rolled his eyes with a smile. "HoW NiCE Of YOu."
And like that, Drako opened a portal straight to his Anti-Void, searching for a reason he wanted to come so much. No doubt, it was because of the Deities; their strings might act as an alarm or something, he didn't know and didn't truly care. But why? It wasn't like him to feel the need to go somewhere like this, and if he had to guess, the pain in his SOUL came from the strings moving slightly and passing on a crack by accident.
He looked around for a bit, until his eyes laid on three figures, making him frown and walk toward them. From where he was, they were only blur of colors. It was impossible to see any features. "DiDN'T tHeY SaY thAT NoBOdY BuT Me ANd ThE PeOPlE I aUthORIZed CoULD CoME HeRE?" He could feel Psyche shrug in his SOUL. How helpful.
The teenager sighed and walked toward the figures slowly, fearing they would suddenly attack. He froze and instinctively took a defensive stance after hearing the bigger one groan slightly, raising a hand to their head. "Damn it, I didn't know the Void gave people headaches..."
At the sound of this voice, Drako gasped and ran toward the three figures, recognizing one of them. "NiGHtMaRE?!" The goopy figure of his friend turned toward him, his single eyelight widening at the sight of him. He quickly got up, leaving the two others behind to jump on the glitch, hugging him as if he would disappear if he were to let go. "You motherfucker! Don't you dare leave us!"
Drako only laughed and hugged him. "Oh SuRE, NeXT TiME I'LL WarN YoU BeFOrE GeTtIng AMbUshEd AnD PuSHeD INtO ThE VOId." That earned him a slight slap at the back of his head caused by one of Nightmare's tentacles, making him laugh. Suddenly, he felt that Psyche would like Nightmare, just for that. "HeHE... I sEE ThEY ALsO MaDE yOU yOunGER."
At that, Nightmare paused and looked at himself, cursing when he finally noticed that he was indeed smaller. He huffed in annoyance, crossing his arms in front of his chest. Drako knew better than to say anything about the fact that the King of Negativity –was it still his title? There was probably a Nightmare here too– was slightly pouting, and therefore chose to change the subject. "WhErE ArE ThE OtHERs?"
"They're just ther-What the fuck are those creatures?" Nightmare had turned around to point at the two beings still asleep. Drako looked toward the two other figures, that looked like dragons, but very small. Probably children or something of the sort. He would have questioned who they were, if it wasn't for a small detail. Hanging around one neck was two necklaces; one being a golden locket in the form of an heart, and the other being a crystal he knew all too well hanging from a silver chain. "No WaY! ThIS Is CrOsS?!"
At the mention of his name, Cross opened his eyes, looking around in confusion. His eyes were still the same, and they could now see that there was his red mark under his right eye. He was now a small dragon, but where Drako's dragon form was made of scales, his looked made of white fur and seemed very fluffy. His tail ended in a black tuft, and some black cross decorated his back. His horns were also black, fading to a soft red at the top. The fur of his paws was also fading to red, making it look somehow like some sort of socks. The part of his body going from the inside of his neck to the inside of his tail was black. Drako couldn't help but think he looked more like a kitten than a dragon, making him snicker softly. Cross glared toward him, knowing he was snickering at him. He swore he heard the small dragon mumble something about stealing his chocolate.
Nightmare picked him up with a tentacle, bringing him near enough to hold him in his arms, making his eyes widen. Why was Nightmare so big?! "It seems so. I can only guess that the other one is Reaper than." Drako turned his attention away from the panicking Cross and looked toward the other dragon, who was still asleep. He gently grabbed him in his arm, examining him. He was just as fluffy as Cross, seeming also made of fur. Unsurprisingly, his fur was black, some speck of light blue decorating it. The part that was black on Cross was a soft light blue on him, and his tail ended in a black tuft of fur, fading with the same light blue. His horns were white.
He finally opened his eyes, and seemed to immediately panic at seeing he was in someone's arm, calming slightly at the sight of the past Destroyer gently petting his head. Drako smiled at the sight of his eyes; one being black and the other white, also fading with a light blue color. He was expecting the reaper's eyes to be totally black.
Drako then looked around. "ThE OtHERs ArEN'T hE-" He paused when he saw Blue's Blaster Hammer on the floor, accompanied by Horror's axe, Killer's knives and Dust's scarf. Realization flashed across his face, and some tears appeared in his eyes. Heunderstood why his necklace felt weird sooner. "No... nO No No nO! T-ThEY cAn'T!" He turned toward Nightmare and Cross, seeing both lower their heads in sadness. "NO! T-ThEy AReN'T!! PlEaSE TeLL Me ThEY ArEN'T dEaD!"
Tears were now freely falling from his eyes. He saw Nightmare's grip on Cross tighten slightly, tears appearing in both of their eyes. They didn't say anything in response, knowing Drako didn't need an answer. He looked down to see Reaper sob slightly, remembering how he was the reason Dust was dead in the first place. If only he didn't have a deadly touch... He would be there, with them!
Drako shook his head, refusing to accept it. "No! T-TheY aRe StROnG! ThEY CaN'T! T̶̐̇̾̐̿̂́́̄̚͜͝͠h̶̢̢̩̫̺̮̩͓̥̖̠̄̃Ȇ̶̹̤̫̟̓̈̄̆͂̓̒̌̉͠Y̵̘͇̥̹͉̪͋̑̄͒̀̄̽͌̅͝ ̵̛̛̝̭̰͉͍̋͑͂͊͊̀̾͒̍́̃̂Ċ̶̟̻͈̩̥͔̓̈͐́͊͗̋͠ͅÄ̶̰͓͎͚́́͒̾́̈͂̔͋̏͘͝ͅn̵̢̺̪̪̝̰̪͔̭͖̲͔̬̽͆̔͝'̷̡̙̲͖̮̻͗̿̇́̈́͝T̴͓̔͊̿̒̎̕͝ ̵̜̫̜̒́̌Ḅ̴͇̝͖̳͊e̸̡̧̠̩̫̖̩͈͈͚͇̓͑̉̎͛̒͌͑̾ ̸̫͇̪͖̲̉̽͋̏̔́Ḑ̸̠͇͍̜͔̮͑̐̒͂̕ͅȩ̴̡͓̺͚̗͙̮͚͔̺̈́̑̊̓͌͐̍͘͝͝ͅa̸̠͓͗͋̃͑̈́̈́̈̋͒̿͝D̸̮̜̺͙̄̂̀͂͊͊͋́̆̋̍̿!̴̣͐̽̎̂̒̒̓͝" He started to glitch uncontrollably, knowing they were indeed dead. Otherwise, they would already by drowning him with their hugs. Nightmare went toward him, taking him in his arms and creating a sort of cocoon around them with his tentacles. Cross took advantage of his small height, going on his shoulder and nuzzling his cheek gently.
It took almost an hour for Drako –and the others, who were just as sad– to calm down enough for them to actually being able to talk. They all sat around their decreased friends' stuff. "I... I'm going to explain everything that you missed..." Drako just nod blankly, hugging Reaper close to his chest while staring at what was left of his friends. "We were mourning your loss, while Cross was spying the Council to find a moment when they would be reunited so we could attack. He came back and told us those bastard were planning a party to celebrate your death." Cross nod after he said that, growling softly at the memory. "We were enraged after hearing that, and went to see the Charas and Toriels to prepare to crash their party. Fresh came and said he would join, either that we liked it or not. We didn't care. He then brought us to your Anti-Void, where we understood that you were still alive, somehow, since your strings were still there. You don't know how happy that made us..."
Nightmare paused, as if reliving the moment, a small smile appearing on his face. "We went back to the mansion and Fresh went to take pictures of the AU in which the party would be held, so we could prepare more. During this time, we used our necklaces and saw you with a Gaster, a Papyrus and a dragon. You seemed happy with them, it made us all happy." He seemed to hesitate before continuing.
"Blue... Blue knew he wouldn't survive since he would disappear with his AU after killing Stretch, so he told me he wanted you to have his hammer." After saying this, he pointed toward the weapon on the floor, that Drako quickly grabbed, smiling a little at the feeling of his friend's magic surrounding him directly. He hugged the hammer without letting go of Reaper, who wasn't complaining. "I didn't understood this until he was dusting in front of me..." Everyone could feel Nightmare's sorrow. Cross gently tapped his cheek with his paw, making the King of Negativity smile softly. Cross continued.
"I then suggested that we bring your birthday gifts with us when jumping. Nightmare took them if I'm right. After a moment, Life called us, told us that Reaper was with her, and that he wanted to avenge you with us. He was sad that he lost someone he could touch and therefore a possible friend. He was then told of the Balances and with quite affected. Nightmare told him what Dream and Ink never did; that they could touch him without dusting. It made us all mad to see how badly he was treated for doing the job he was created to do." Reaper lowered his head, sinking closer in Drako's embrace before continuing.
"Fresh and I were the first to join the party, soon followed by the gang and the others. We eliminated quite a lot of them, probably only leaving a tenth of what was originally there. The Multiverse was trembling because of the AUs being destroyed after the loss of one of their most important codes. Then... They started to kill some of us. Horror was low on energy and got killed by a copy of Classic... Killer was surrounded and couldn't teleport to save himself... A-And... Dust... Ran into me while slaughtering Judges... I'm so sorry, it's all my fault..." Drako hugged him closer, gently petting his head with his non-occupied hand. "It WaS NoT YoUR fAulT." Reaper was close to cry, shaking lightly.
"Once that was done, we went back to the mansion and grabbed some personal stuff before jumping into the Void. Fresh didn't jump, probably wanting to cause some chaos or something of the sort."
Drako nodded in response, sighing sadly at the sight of his friends' stuff. Reaper then moved away. "I... I still have Dust's necklace, you should take it..." And indeed, Drako saw the necklace around his neck. "KeEP iT, YoU'Re OnE Of Us NoW, AnD I'm SuRE He WouLD HavE LiKED YoU To HaVE IT." He smiled a little, seeing the necklace change from his purple and red color to a black and light blue one. One extremity stayed purple and the other red, showing that Dust's SOUL accepted Reaper, but was still there. He then sighed.
"I gUeSs It'S My TuRN tO TeLL yOU WhAT hApPeNed..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can't do emotional scenes, but they are sad, even if it doesn't look like it-!
Yes, Cross and Reaper turned into little dragons. Fluffy little dragons. Perfect for cuddles, would recommend-
I think that I'm done with this book. Still didn't finish today's chapter, but it should be the last, even if I have absolutely no idea of how to finish it without it being bad. But if this one isn't the last, than tomorrow's should be. So I'll start another story soon, yay! :D
Talking about other stories, I just counted all my Ideas of fanfictions or specific scenarios to put in future stories. 90, and I added the last one only three days ago. And I left some as this was random things like how Error could fall into the Void or what to do with him. If I write them all, I'm going to have a lot of work. Thankfully some will definitively only be One Shots or really short stories-
You won't be able to get rid of me easily-
Anyway, I hope that you enjoyed this chapter! ^^
Lunar's out!~
