Chapter 10

They quickly –too quickly for Drako's liking– arrived in front of a small chalet. The past Destroyer observed the skeleton father open the door, getting out of the way to let him walk in first. "What a gentleman." Drako rolled his eyes. 'That's all you have to say?'

Psyche seemed offended, but he knew they weren't. "Hey, I'm just a Voice, let me make some comments at least!"

Now, he would have laughed if he was alone, but a single look toward the two children in his arms reminded him that he was in fact not alone. Now he understood how complicated it would be to discuss with Psyche. He should have found a cavern and stayed as an hermit. Or perhaps his Anti-Void. "If you did that, maybe those children would have died. We're not certain that Gaster could have saved them himself."

He hated that Psyche was right, and that he wouldn't trade saving them for his tranquility. He sighed and nodded toward Gaster as a 'thank you', entering the chalet with the tall skeleton behind him. He closed the door while Drako turned around to face him. He knew he could take him down if needed, and could sense that Gaster wasn't planning to attack him, but he couldn't help but being on alert. It wasn't his fault; eons of fights and suffering do that to someone.

The Gaster –perhaps he should just call him Gaster since he was the first Gaster he met in this Multiverse?– gestured him to take a sit in one of the sofa nearby and, with a sigh, he obligated, never taking his eyes off the tall adult, who sat in front of him. "So... You're a dragon too?"

"I ThInK yOu SaW tHe AnSwEr By YoUrSelF. I'M gUeSsInG YoU AlSo ArE oNE SInCE It'S tHe SeCoND tIme You SaY 'ToO', aNd ThAT'S tHe ReAsOn YoU WaNtEd Me To FoLLoW yOu." Gaster nodded, making him hum softly. He wasn't surprise, honestly. And it explained why Psyche didn't scream at him when he changed of form in front of him. Little bastard knew he was the other one. "Why, thank you. And of course I did. I told you you would meet him at some point after all."

"Do you, perhaps, know others like us? Your parents maybe...?" Drako paused for a few seconds. Destiny and Karma were established to be his new parents, and they did give him this dragon side, which means they could have one if they wanted to... But it probably didn't count, Gaster wouldn't meet them and that probably was what he wanted. "No. I'M AlOnE."

He could see the scientist –was he even a scientist in the universe?– shift slightly, clearly uncomfortable. He definitively didn't expect this answer, and only murmured a little 'O-Oh...' in response. "YoUr SoNs CaN ChANgE ForMs?" Gaster shook his head.

"No, they can't. Sans was born as a dragon and didn't show any sign of being able to take another form, and Papyrus was born as a skeleton and didn't show any sign either. Quite honestly, I thought I was the last of our kind. Perhaps, if they have children, some might have this capacity, but they are way too young and I'll maybe dust before seeing my grandchildren."

Drako looked at the children, seeming deep in thought. It was true, their children might be able to change form, but will they even have children? Considering that the Monsters aren't underground, there shouldn't be Resets, and therefore maybe they will actually be able to live freely? He could only wish them that. "O-Oh I didn't introduce myself! I'm Winding Gaster, and who are you young man?"

Drako could only cringe at being called 'young man'. He was eons old for Toby Fox's sake! "My NaMe Is DrAkO." Gaster nodded. "It's nice to do your acquaintance." It was Drako's turn to nod. "LiKeWIsE."

Then they were both silent, making the situation clearly uncomfortable for both of them. But Drako saw the way Gaster was looking at his scars with a pained expression, clearly wanting to ask questions but not daring to. Drako sighed, rubbing tiredly his nasal bone with one hand, keeping the two Babybones –could Sans be considered a Babybone, considering he was a dragon and not a skeleton?– close to him with the other, as to not wake them up. "AsK YoUr QuEStIoNS."

Gaster seemed surprise that he understood just by looking at him. What Drako didn't know was that he was internally making some hypothesis as to not ask the questions he had in mind. He had heard about creatures being reborn after death, and with Drako's way of acting –that looked strangely mature and not teenager-like, he would know, he once was a teenager–, it would make sense, but wouldn't his possible scars fade away with the reincarnation? He couldn't possibly have gained all those scars just by being alive sixteen years –he didn't give him more than sixteen years old, even if he was really tall–, could he? What kind of hell has the poor kid been through?!

"I... How did you get all these scars...?" Gaster saw Drako's eyelights sharpen suddenly, as if he was even more on guard then before. He seemed to hesitate to answer, looking to the side for a few seconds, but never leaving Gaster from his sight more than that. "Tell him the truth." Gaster saw Drako's eyelights suddenly widening with shock, making him confused. Did he thought about something shocking...? Was his past that traumatizing...? 'What?! No! We don't know him, we can't trust him!'

"This universe was made by Destiny and Karma specifically for you. I'm certain they made things so the skeleton family would help you at least. Plus there is no evil intent in his SOUL, we both can feel it. He just wants to help you and possibly kick some asses. Plus you're a fucking God, you can always save yourself if he doesn't react well." Drako sighed, massing his skull with his free and, making his bonnet move a little, showing even more scars. It was horrible, as if the left side of his skull had been torn apart then put back in place, leaving some nasty cracks in memories of that moment –Gaster didn't know how right he was with that thought–. He could feel his SOUL cry out in pain at the sight of the other's scarred body. Weirdly, as if he could feel his SOUL cry in sadness, Drako looked at him with wide eyes, before sighing softly, shrugging to himself. 'Alright then...'

"I... ThIS iS QuITE a LoNG StOry, ANd IT MiGhT SOuNd FaR StReTcHeD But eVERyThInG iS ReAL... KnOwIng ThAT, Do YoU StIlL wAnT Me To ExPlAiN My... StOrY?" Gaster could see the hesitation in the young one's eyelights, and had the feeling that meeting Drako would considerably change his life, but he didn't care. He wanted to know and help this poor boy –probably his paternal instinct talking, after all, skeletons were known to be almost extinct nowadays, so seeing one of his kin so broken could only fuel him with determination to protect him, and the fact he was still a child didn't help–. Truth to be told, after hearing he was alone, Gaster almost wanted to offer to adopt him, but decided against it for now, not wanting to scare the poor boy with such a sudden question. "I'll listen, even if it is unbelievable, I promise I'll believe you. I want to know."

'And to help you...', his SOUL added sadly. He couldn't stand the view of a child so broken. Drako sighed and nodded, seemingly more to himself than to Gaster, before taking a deep breath. 'Welp, here we go... Are you sure it's a good idea to tell him everything?' He heard Psyche sigh and pat his back gently. "Yes, you won't be able to hide it to everyone, and you felt how his SOUL react to your injuries." Drako looked up, fixating his gaze straight in Gaster's eyelights.

"ThErE wAs OnCE OnLy OnE uNIvErSe NaMeD 'UndERtAlE', CrEaTeD bY A DeItY WhO CaLlEd THEMsElvES... FaTE." Gaster felt the animosity in Drako's words at the evocation of this Deity and frowned slightly. Drako's already existing frown got slightly bigger, and he closed his free hand, as if he was trying to control his rage. He took a deep breath before continuing, looking at Gaster's children as if to calm himself, which seemed to work a little.

"ThEY dECiDE To TaKe A bEiNG FrOM oNe OF tHE FiRST aUS, KnOWiNG Ink WoUldN'T cHeCk ON iT Or NoTIcE It WaS GoNE. ThEY cHoSe A..." He looked at the children in his arm, then at Gaster, pursing his 'lips' and hesitating before continuing. "... A SaNS. It WaS a SAnS ThEY ToOK. NoT lIkE yOur Son, For He WaS a SkElEtOn AnD HaD nO CoNnEcTiOn To DrAgOns, BuT sTiLl A SaNS." He waited, seeing Gaster eyes widen with shock and unhidden rage. He didn't understand, truly, but he promised to listen and believe what the young skeleton was telling him, and didn't plan on going back on his promise. Even if he didn't understand, the idea of a Sans, another version of his dear son, being taken away from his home didn't make him happy at all, quite the opposite. "ThEy DeCiDeD ThAT iF ThEY HAd A CrEaTOr OuT Of CoNtROl, THe BeST wAY To StOp ThE MuLtIveRSE FrOM cOlLaPsIng WaS To MaKE A DeStrOYeR He-"

Gaster cut Drako by raising his hand, seeming angrier at the story. "Couldn't they just warn Ink a second time?" Drako smiled sadly and shook his head. "ThEY CoUld PrObABLy BuT DiDn'T tRy. MaYbe He WoUld HaVe StOpPed, MaYbe He WoUlDn'T hAvE hEaRd Or LiSTeNeD OnCE AgAiN. I CaN'T kNow." Gaster growled slightly, disliking the fact this so called Deity didn't even try to warn her brat. "EvEN If ThEy Did, He pRObaBlY wOuLDN't HaVe CaRed; ThEy MaDe A mIstAkE WhIle CrEatINg HiM, MaKiNG hIM SOuLlEsS." Gaster could only gap in surprise. Monster weren't supposed to be alive without a proper SOUL –of course, he didn't know about the Flowey case–!

Drako sighed. 'Why do I tell this like if it wasn't me? I feel like I'm talking about some random skeleton...' Psyche stayed silent.

"You're not mentioning how you almost cry and hugged the floor at some point." Psyche mentioned, making him frown. 'Hey that was after I gained my sanity back!... Or was it...? Damn it, I don't remember... And you didn't even exist back then, you can't make fun of me for something that happened eons ago!' Psyche didn't miss a bat to answer. "Oh yes I can, and I will Glitchy!~" Drako only sighed.

Gaster couldn't help but notice how Drako had said Blue's name with a tender look in his eyes and unhidden affection. He clearly cared for this... Sans. By Toby Fox, he couldn't wrap his head around the fact there could be other versions of his Babybones and probably himself.

"BlUE... DaMn He WaS aMaZiNG. He WaS sCaReD, OF cOuRse, SiNce A StRAnGe HiM lOoK-AlIke HaD KiLLeD EvERyOne IN His UNiVErSE And WaNtEd To DeStroY IT. He smiled a little at that, feeling happy he did this and didn't keep Blue with him. Poor Sans would have become a glitch like him. He instinctively grabbed his necklace at the thought of his friend in blue.

"Well technically, your parents are Destiny and Karma and Destiny is Fate's sibling so... Ink is your cousin." Drako froze, his eyes widening. 'Don't EVER say that again Psyche. I am not related to those bastards in ANY way!'

While saying this, Drako couldn't help but lovingly caress the crystal of his necklace, a fond smile on his face, that soon turned grim again.

Before he could registered what happened, Gaster got up and quickly took him in his arms, trying to hide that he was crying but failing miserably. His SOUL was screaming in pain and sadness, and he could tell, even if this all sounded so weird, that it was the truth. He felt it in his SOUL, and the sadness and pain in Drako's eyes could not have been faked. He was in presence of a God hated and beaten for a job he never chose. He kept repeating excuses, even if he didn't do anything to Drako, while the teenager awkwardly patted his back. 'Well that was unexpected...'

"Unexpected for you, I knew he would react like that! He won't let you get harmed by anything now." Drako paused for a few seconds. 'You sneaky motherfucker!' He sighed as he heard Psyche giggle in response.

"HeY, It'S oKAy, TrUlY. I'M HaPpY fOr NoW, AnD I OnLY hOpe ThAT DeSTiNY aND KarMA mAnAGe To BrINg My FaMilY HeRE sO... HuH... StOp CrYiNG, PlEaSE...?" Damn that was awkward. He was no comforting material; the only persons he ever comforted were misunderstood murderers and unstable skeletons... Not a totally normal and sane adult! How does that thing even work?! What is he even supposed to do?!

It took Drako quite a few minutes, a lot of pats and hugs from the two angels he was holding to calm Gaster down. Thankfully, he moved back a little once fully calm, because Drako would not have been able to live another breakdown so fast. Gaster cleared his throat, his cheeks flaring a gentle purple color when he noticed that Drako was looking at him weirdly for reacting this way. "Hum... As I was saying, I'm sorry you had to go through all tha-"

"WhY wOuLD YoU Be SOrRY? YoU DId NoThIng WrOnG." Drako truly didn't see the point in apologizing. "I... Yes but... That... You shouldn't had to be through all this! I... Hum... Okay I know this is going to sound weird but... Would you like to live with my boys and I? If I understood correctly, you don't have a home and... Considering your past, I want to offer you the best future I can. Plus, being myself part dragon, I could help you if you have trouble controlling your dragon side...?"

Gaster sounded really awkward, but who could blame him? He was in presence of a fucking God of Destruction from another Multiverse that looked strangely like a teenager –he now knew he clearly wasn't one, but that didn't change anything in his eyes– for Toby Fox's sake! He wasn't ready for that when he went out for a walk with his beloved Babybones! But the only thing in his mind now was the urge to help this poor broken skeleton, and he swore he heard multiple Voices encourage him to do so. "I... I dOn'T ThInk ThIS WoULD Be A gOoD IdEA. I'M a DaNger And YoU'Re aLL... NorMAL? NoT To Be MeAN, BuT I'm UsED To Be ArOunD mENtAlLY UnsTAbLE SkELEToNS SO... AnD I DoN'T WaNt To HuRt Yo-"

It was his turn to be cut off, this time by the young skeleton in his arms. "Please mister, say yes! You could be our big brother! Your're like us! And you're super cool!" Drako could only mentally curse after hearing this, his big brother's instinct making him want to accept and protect this enthusiastic Babybone from all harm. The Sans wasn't better, looking at him expectantly even if he didn't say a word. "Come on, say yes, you have nothing to lose and you won't hurt them!"

Damn it, even Psyche was against him now. 'How can you be so sure? I'm dangerous!' He heard Psyche sigh and felt them pat his head gently. "Have you ever hurt Nightmare's gang?" His eyes widened at the question, and this time Gaster could guess he was talking to that Voice he mentioned, even if he didn't know how this was possible. 'No!! I would never!'

"Well then you would never hurt them either. C'mon Glitchy, accept, you have nothing to lose and I doubt that Gaster will let you go away anyway, his SOUL is screaming its intent to protect you. Honestly, I didn't expect him to react this seriously, but it's even better! So accept! And look at this Papyrus' and Sans' eyelights, you wouldn't want to disappoint those cute Babybones, would you?" Damn Voice using his weakness against him... Looking at the kids, he could only sigh in resignation. He had a feeling Destiny and Karma had planned all of this when they put him here.

"AlRiGhT BuT dOn'T cOme CrYiNG TO Me WhEN YoU ReALiZE It WaS a BaD IdEA." And that's how he ended up in a hug with two skeletons and a little dragon. He could get used to that... And he knew his family would love to be part of their family when they get here... If they get ever here.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Drako is already regretting meeting Gaster and sharing his story- x)
Psyche is a little gremlin who had anticipated everything x)
Anyway, I hope that you enjoyed this chapter ^^
Personally, I'm happy that I finally managed to publish two chapter during a week-
Normally, I should also post two next week since the two next chapters are directly linked together, so it would be better to post them together, I guess... Well, technically, the four next chapters are linked together, but I'm not publishing for chapters during a week-
I can't seem to finish this story, last week I thought that I would write the last chapter, but ten chapters later, the end still isn't coming- x)
Lunar's out!~
