Fighting The War - Chapter Fourteen
The hot wind rushed against my face and all the faces of the people who stood behind me.
My helmet was held beneath my right arm and I sat on the enlarged body of ICE.
In the distance marched the enemy, enough black knights to match our numbers and at the front of them was the Evil King on his demonic black Dragon the size of ICE if not bigger.
What if we didn't win? What if we died? What if Thoreth died?
No, I couldn't think about thks now. I was suppose to be the Dragon Queen, born to rule, born to be a warrior.
I turned around in my saddle to face my mother who was on Jade.
"Why me?" I asked her and she simply smiled.
"Because you are goddess born." Was all she gave me and I turned to look at my father who was on Gold with his matching gold armor, before turning back to the enemy.
They stopped about a half mile away from us.
"Archers and shields!" The shield moved up in front of us and the archers readied there bows.
"Fire!" I drew my sword as many of the front row in the enemy's line fell.
"Draw your swords friends and let us fight!" I raised my sword and we rode forward but as did they.
"Dragons take to the sky!" My mother shouted and ICE spread his wings above the soldiers heads and with a flap of his wings we were in the sky. We flew forward towards the enemy faster than our warriors could reach them and ICE let out a stream of his ice fire, which was blue but surely deadlier than regular fire..
Then the king lifted up from the ground and his black dragon seamed to look through me with his red fiery eyes.
The dragon flew through the sky screeching towards us, it's talons outstretched and ICE roared, ready to meet it.
The king on the dragons back had long black flowing hair and eyes to match his counterpart, he was handsome in a deadly way but as he came at me I saw someone else riding the very same Dragon. Someone with clear blue wings, part fey? Definitely not all human.
She was a girl my age, sitting behind the king with both fear and dread in her eyes she almost seemed familiar somehow but I shook off the thought as his Dragon came at us.
His lips moved and then the girls lips moved and all of a sudden ICE was spiraling to the ground.
"ICE what are you doing!"
He growled at that.
"It's not me it's the girl, my wings aren't working!"
Then we hit the ground and my head whipped forward as we crash landed. Pain exploded both in my head and in my mind. Swords clashed against swords around us and I looked up to see the black Dragon fly over and land in front of us.
"ICE are you okay?" I yelled at my dragon.
"I'll be fine."
I un-hooked the saddle clip and held my sword up with my right hand, ready to fight against the incoming king.
I shot a power ball at him and it hit him but he kept coming like it didn't faze him.
He raised his sword and stuck at me, I blocked it and slid it off my own before trying to strike him. He jumped backwards and a growl made me look back at ICE who had just gotten up off the ground and was rushing towards the kings Dragon.
"Join us." The king said in a grizzled yet harsh tone.
"Never." I sneered and attacked him again.
He blocked me and shot a bolt at me which hit me in the chest and pushed me back about a foot.
He stared down at me. "We could be invincible."
Fighting through the pain I ignored him and came at him again. I faked a shot at his right before quickly spinning and hitting him on his left side. My blade came back with red on it. I stared at it for a moment, realizing he could bleed and then hopping back just in time to be missed by his own blade.
"You think you will live through this?" He looked at me with distaste. "You won't, your pathetic and week."
"Takes one to know one." I shot forward and brought my sword down on his right foot backing up before he could sling at me. I looked at his foot which had a long gash which was seeping blood, and then I looked behind him to see the girl just standing there with nobody touching her. With swords flashing beside her and people falling to there knees, and with tears running down her face.
It was then that I knew her, it was Cecila. Cecilia's family were some of the last good treasure hunters and her family had visited us whenever they got the chance to.
My though was broke as the king brought his handle down on my head. A metallic clash sounded through my ears and I fell to my knees, my head ringing. I felt a heavy weight hit my back and I fell forward, the heat of his blade entered my body.
ICE was about ten feet in front of me fighting the black Dragon and the last thing I saw before blacking out was the king stepping forward towards Cecilia and her putting a hidden daggar through his heart.
Then the clashing and banging stoped and everything was simply quiet.
