Hiccup was three when he found himself in a forest, having been told to wait there by his dad after dragons had supposedly been spotted. Daddy never send me alone... only when pick plants with amma... He smiled slightly thinking about the old healer woman, soon curling up at the base of a large rock. Minutes, hours, and more slowly passed until the sun began to set. It wasn't long before the child was shivering. Where daddy..? Please not dead... He sniffled quietly as he curled up, only to screech lightly as a black shape fell to the ground near him.

 It was about his size and bleeding slightly.

The child pressed his back against the rock. Dragon... His eyes were wet and a little wider than usual.

The creature let out a pained cry, not at all like viking boy would have expected, a much larger shape soon locating the pair.

It seemed to screech and growl at the smaller dragon, soon picking it up by the back of its neck, like a mother cat would.

"K... Kitty," the boy murmured, as if naming it.

The dragon turned its head towards him, scales glistening in the light of the rising moon, ear-like flaps flicking for a few moments before it walked towards him.

Hiccup held his breath, quivering.

"What's wrong, whelp?"

He whimpered quietly, unable to understand it.

Kitty seemed to sigh, looking around for a few moments before pulling the viking out with a paw.

He began sobbing quietly.

"Oh for the love of Alpha..." The dragon sighed as she began gently licking the boy, trying her best to calm and clean him until he grew relaxed enough for her to carry him, picking the human up in her claws as she began to fly.

At first, the child was quiet due to fear. But, as land gave way to water and then earth once more came into view, the silence became that of awe. Eventually, though, he managed to fall asleep, only to wake as she landed an hour or two later.

As Hiccup started to stir, the dragon carefully moved him into her nest, curling a tail around him as she began to tend to her whelp.
