Chapter 3: Draconis Eye
Misty's POV-
After school, we decided to head to he library for out normal routine of doing homework. Nuri tapped my shoulder after we had been walking for a while and almost at the library.
"What?" I looked at him. Nuri pointed to a man standing behind the corner of a building just barely visible.
I stopped in my tracks. I stared at the shadowy figure.
Nuri leaned over and whispered, "that guy has been following us since this morning. He must have followed us to school and waited until we came out."
"Creepy," I whispered back.
"Wonder what he wants..."
"Whatcha whispering about?" Loki butted it. Nuri glared at him.
"Him," I stared at the man. "He's been following us."
Loki nodded, "maybe it's just a coincidence...?"
"Yea... No." Nuri said walking toward the man.
"Nuri!" I yelled/whispered. "The hell are you doing!?"
"Waddya want, sir? Why have you been following us?" Nuri questioned the man. He stood there, looking down, blocking his face from view. He wrapped his hand around the front of Nuri's shirt and slammed him against a tree.
"Give it to me," he growled.
"G-give what?" Nuri looked frightened. The man pulled out a black knife almost long enough to be a small sword. It had a black gem on the handle.
"Nuri!" I couldn't keep the yelp inside. I charged at the man with my full force, which only caused him to move a step to the side. He pushed me to the ground.
"Give it to me, or I'll retrieve it myself," he held the knife up to Nuri. It?
"I-I don't know what you're t-talking about," Nuri stuttered and he looked down at the knife worriedly. The shadowy man brought the knife closer to Nuri's neck. What do I do!? Where is Loki!? I looked around for Loki. He's gone!
"Çабуйце нанесцî шкöду Mайму настаўнįку (Do not try to harm my master)," Nuri said calmly. What language is that? I wondered. His eyes changed from their normal brown to a glowing yellowy orange color, and his pupils turned to thin black slits. "Åапайце маю Настаўнік зноў , ці я працярце ваыя бездпаможныя , сьмяротн наванне твару гэтай зямл (Do not touch my Master again or I will wipe your puny, mortal existence from the face of this earth)." Red and black scales appeared on both his hands and halfway up his forearms, his finger nails turned into inch long claws. Black horns appeared on his head, and a red and black scaled tail behind him with an arrow shape at the tip. A flame lit in the palm of Nuri's hand. That's not Nuri... Who then?
The man stared, surprised, then smiled. "You are a very troublesome eye to find."
"I try." The man jabbed the sword toward Nuri's throat. A hand wrapped around the blade, and stopped it inches away. "You're not gonna harm my Master. Do not try it again." This time the man looked surprised that the blade of his knife wasn't cutting through the scales of Nuri's hand. The man jabbed at Nuri's chest, only to be stopped. The man growled in frustration, and Nuri, or whoever this was, looked completely bored. He finally spoke in English. "Humans are so petty, and greedy. I don't understand why Master won't just let me end you now." He kicked the man away.
The man charged at Nuri, only to have the tip of his tail driven strait into the man's arm. The man recoiled in pain, and fled. I sat on the ground where I had been shoved, watching wide eyed. "N-Nuri?"
He looked at me, walked over, and helped me up. "You must be my Master's girlfriend." He smiled.
"W-what!? That's not funny Nuri!" I shoved him away, blushing.
"I assure you, it was not meant to be funny. And I'm not Nuri. I am the Draconis Eye."
"What? Is this a joke? Cuz it isn't funny."
Loki came up behind me. "It's not a joke." Where the hell were you this whole time!?
"Ah. Nagar. Nice you see you again," the Draconis Eye said, bowing his head slightly.
"Draconis," Loki greeted.
"Am I missing something? Why'd he call you Nagar? I'm so confused right now!" My brain hurts...
"Uh..." Loki hesitated.
"So. You've lied to your friends? Does Master even know I exist?" Draconis Eye asked.
"Umm... Do I have to answer?" Loki said playfully but hesitant.
Draconis stared at Loki blankly. "Yes." A flame lit in his palm.
"Hey, Hey. Let's not be hasty."
The flame sizzled then shrank and disappeared. "Oh? It seems I have used up all my Master's magic energy." He wobbled a little before collapsing. Luckly Loki caught him.
"What happens now?" I asked Loki.
He shrugged. "Take him home. Then I have something to show you and Nuri, when he wakes up."
Nuri's scales and tail disappeared, but his black horns stayed.
