But the wolves ignored Gine's warnings, and just as the pack leader was about to pounce on Gine and her son, baring its fierce fangs, a loud voice shouted:

_"Extend, Power Pole!"

Then, from among the trees, an elderly man of short stature with a large gray mustache, wearing a green hat, an orange oriental vest with yellow rings, and black pants and sleeves, appeared. He was holding a large red staff, with which he struck the wolf that was about to attack Gine and her son. The old man then leaped in front of Gine and her son to protect them from the fierce creatures, leaving Gine astonished and wondering who this old man was. The other wolves then lunged at the old man, but the old man, showing great fighting skill with his staff, began to strike every one of the wolves trying to attack him, easily dodging their attacks. Gine was somewhat surprised by the old man's fighting style. Eventually, all the wolves got scared and fled, leaving only the old man with Gine and her son. The old man then shrank his staff and placed it on his back, fixing his gaze on Gine and her son, asking:

_"Tell me, young lady, are you alright?"

To which Gine nodded, saying, "Yes, sir."

The old man fixed his gaze on the large crater where the open capsule from which Gine and her son had emerged was, and on the tails that Gine and her son had.
