Goten x Female Reader
a/n- miraimercury sorry for the wait i hope you like it!!
Goten had always been the more open and cheerful of the group. His carefree nature and warm personality made him easy to get along with, and he had a way of making everyone around him feel special. But for the past few months, he had been trying to get closer to Y/N, dropping subtle hints about his feelings. Unfortunately, Y/N seemed blissfully unaware of his intentions.
It wasn't for lack of trying, though. Goten had complimented her countless times, often commenting on her smile, her kindness, or how she made even the dullest days brighter. He would find ways to spend time with her, inviting her to hang out together. He even brought her little gifts now and then, things he thought she would like, but still, Y/N seemed to think he was just being a good friend.
One day, Goten and Y/N were hanging out at Capsule Corp, where Trunks was working on one of his many projects. As usual, Goten found a way to compliment Y/N. "You know, Y/N, you have the prettiest laugh," he said, grinning at her.
Y/N blushed and laughed softly. "Thanks, Goten. You're always so nice."
Trunks rolled his eyes from across the room, muttering under his breath. "So oblivious..."
Goten shot his friend a look but didn't say anything. He knew Trunks was getting impatient with the whole situation, but Goten wanted to wait for the right moment. And that moment, he decided, would be on Y/N's birthday, which was coming up in a week.
The week had been a whirlwind of activity for Goten as he searched for the perfect gift. He had wandered through West City's bustling shopping districts, feeling increasingly anxious about finding something that would truly convey his feelings. Nothing seemed quite right until he stumbled upon a small, quaint jewelry store tucked away in a quiet alley.
Inside, a friendly older man greeted him, noticing Goten's worried expression. "Looking for something special, young man?" the jeweler asked, a knowing smile on his face.
Goten nodded, explaining his situation. The jeweler listened patiently before suggesting a delicate silver bracelet with a small star-shaped charm. "You mentioned you two used to stargaze together. This charm could symbolize those memories and your feelings for her," he explained.
Goten's eyes lit up at the idea. It was perfect—a simple yet meaningful gift that held a personal connection. He thanked the jeweler and purchased the bracelet, feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness as he imagined giving it to Y/N.
Finally, the day of Y/N's birthday arrived. They gathered at Bulma's place for a small celebration. Goten had been nervous all day, barely able to focus on anything. As they sat down for cake, Trunks leaned over and whispered, "You gonna tell her today?"
Goten nodded, swallowing hard. "Yeah. I have to."
Trunks grinned. "About time."
When it was finally time for presents, Goten took a deep breath and approached you with a beautifully wrapped box. "Happy birthday, Y/N," he said, his voice trembling slightly. "I hope you like it."
You smiled warmly and took the box from his hands. "Thank you, Goten. I'm sure I'll love it." You carefully unwrapped the gift, revealing a delicate silver necklace with a pendant shaped like a tiny star. It was beautiful, and you could tell it had been chosen with great care.
"Goten, it's gorgeous," you said, looking up at him with genuine gratitude. "Thank you so much."
Goten took a deep breath, his heart pounding. This was it. "Actually, Y/N, there's something I've been wanting to tell you for a while now," he began, his voice steady despite the butterflies in his stomach. "I... I really like you. Like, a lot. More than just as a friend."
Y/N blinked, looking genuinely surprised. "You do?"
Goten nodded, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders. "Yeah. I've liked you for a long time, but I didn't know how to say it. I was worried it might make things weird between us."
For a moment, Y/N was silent, processing his words. Then, a slow smile spread across her face. "Goten, I... I like you too," she admitted, her voice soft. "I just never thought... I mean, I didn't realize..."
Trunks, who had been watching the exchange with barely contained frustration, finally threw his hands up in exasperation. "Oh, for crying out loud, just kiss already!" he shouted, startling both Goten and Y/N.
They both turned to look at Trunks, then back at each other, blushing furiously. Goten chuckled nervously. "Well, I guess we should listen to him," he said, grinning.
Y/N laughed, nodding. "Yeah, I guess so."
Goten leaned in, and Y/N met him halfway. The kiss was soft and sweet, full of all the unspoken emotions they had been harboring for so long. It was a perfect moment, made even better by the warmth and affection they felt for each other.
As they pulled away, Y/N smiled up at Goten, her eyes sparkling. "I can't believe I didn't see it before," she said, shaking her head. "You've been so obvious."
Goten laughed, shrugging. "I guess I was too subtle," he joked.
Trunks snorted. "Subtle? You practically had a neon sign over your head."
Y/N and Goten both laughed, the tension of the past few months finally dissipating. They spent the rest of the evening talking and laughing, enjoying the company of their friends and each other.
As the night came to an end, Goten and Y/N stood outside, looking up at the stars. Goten took Y/N's hand, feeling a surge of happiness and contentment. "I'm really glad I told you," he said, squeezing her hand gently.
"Me too," Y/N replied, leaning her head on his shoulder. "This is the best birthday present I could have asked for."
They stood there for a while, enjoying the peaceful night and the warmth of each other's presence.
