A Bout of Blood! Uub's Attempt at Peace.

Several of the fights had already been decided, all of them not even close to the intensity that was about to take place.

"You're going to be fine Xander," Pan says in an effort to reassure her son. "Honestly, Goten isn't that big of a threat to someone who's been training as hard as you have been!" Pan says with a smile. "HEY, I'm standing right here you know!" Goten whines at his niece. "Come on uncle Goten, I don't think you need me to tell you to try your hardest." Pan said with a wink and thumbs up. "I guess you're right, thanks Pan." Goten tells his niece. Trunks then walks over to the group, "I couldn't find that other guy, it's almost like he's avoiding us." "Or he wised up and ran off before he could fight me." Kira said bitterly. She leaned on the doorway leading to the arena, her angry glare able to burn holes in concrete. "Kira we don't even know this guy, what if he's actually telling the truth?" Uub tried to reason with his daughter.

"I'll believe it when I see it." And with that Kira went quiet.

*1 hour and six fights later*

It was finally time for Xander to take on Goten to advance to the next round, the lack of contestants in the tournament made for a short time before this fight. "Let's go out and give them what they came here to see!" Goten said enthusiastically, contradicting his great nephew's nervous demeanor. The two walked out of the fighter's house and into the arena, the cries of adoration urging them on. Xander stood in amazement at just how big the stadium looked.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I HOPE YOU'RE PREPARED BECAUSE NOW IS THE FIGHT YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR! SON XANDER, THE GREAT GRANDSON OF SON GOKU, WILL NOW FIGHT HIS UNCLE GOTEN, THE DIRECT SON OF GOKU! FIGHTERS, TAKE YOUR POSITIONS," and when the announcer said that Goten immediately took his famous fighting stance, the one taught to him by the turtle hermit himself before he finally passed. Xander gulped nervously but readied himself in the stance his father taught him. "Keep on his blind side, her can't hit what he can't reach." Xander recited in his mind.

Silence...

"BEGIN!" came the final call as the gong sounded. Goten smirked and rushed his nephew, hoping to get a couple blows on him before he realizes what happened. Xander saw Goten disappear and instinctively leaped out of the way, narrowly missing his uncle's attack. Goten was quick to follow and began throwing quick punches at his nephew, who was at first trying to block them to tire out his adversary. Seeing that punches weren't doing that great, Goten then decided to switch tactics. He dropped and swept out Xander's feet, causing him to fall on his face. Xander recovered his wits quickly though and leapt straight into the air. Goten leapt after him though and they conducted their battle in midair.

Raiyo looked on at the battle in shock, "These are the kind of people that I have to face, what kind of messed up tournament is this?!?" Raiyo was freaking out inside his head when a sudden tap on his shoulder removed his attention from the battle. Seida stood there with a slightly worried expression which caused Raiyo to panic. "Most of the other fighters left once the fight started. The only ones who didn't leave are you and some guy in a chicken costume that's currently crying and rocking back and forth in a corner." She gestured over to the chicken man who was clearly having a mental breakdown. "I don't know whether I should feel sorry or join him, it's not like he's completely crazy for breaking down at what's going on down there!" Raiyo said and pointed out in the arena.

Xander sent an elbow jab at his uncle's face, but was caught by the older fighter only centimeters away from his face. They exchanged a couple fast paced punches before breaking apart from each other. They descended to the ground, both breathing heavily. "I must say I'm impressed with how far you've come in your training," Goten said as he wiped a trickle of blood from his mouth. "You've definitely improved in your skill and maintaining your power output. Want to try it again?" Goten asked expectantly. Xander went wide eyed, he knew what Goten was talking about but he didn't think he'd ask in the middle of their fight. "Right...now?" Xander stammered at his uncle. "Yeah, why not?" Goten asked said in his usual goofy manner.

"Now what are they doing?" Seida asked once she saw the two fighters, Xander and Goten she recalled, had stopped fighting and were just talking to one another. "I don't know, but I have a feeling it's not about talking him or Kira into taking a dive when they fight me." Raiyo said with an edge on his voice. He didn't want to know what was going on and frankly he didn't care, the only thing that he could focus on was the fact that his fight was up next which terrified him to his core.

"Goten isn't trying to test Xander again is he, not in the middle of the tournament?!" Pan asked as she looked on at the arena. "It's not unlikely," Trunks spoke up. "Goten has been trying get Xander and Kira to go super saiyan for three years now but all times he's tried they've never been able to do it." Trunks said in a stony calm. "I'm right here you know!" Kira said once she heard her name mentioned. "Well can you go super saiyan yet?" Trunks questioned Kira with a raised eyebrow. Kira opened her mouth to say something but her better judgement went against it. Instead she pursed her lips in a pouting fashion and turned back to the fight.

Xander gritted his teeth adamantly, the strain of his rising energy wearing on his body. "Hrrrgh...grrr!" Xander grunted as sparks of blue energy surged around his form. "Come on Xander, I know you're strong enough to do this. You have to reach deep into your being and bring out the anger that you hold!" Goten yelled at Xander. Xander's eyes felt like they were bulging out of their sockets, his skin burned with the heat of a volcano. "I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING HERE FOR SURE FOLKS, BUT IF I WERE TO BET MY MONEY I'D SAY GOTEN IS TRAINING XANDER WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF BATTLE. CERTAINLY THIS STANDS UP THERE WITH SOME OF THE STRANGEST THINGS TO HAPPEN INSIDE THE RING SINCE THE UNION OF GOKU AND CHICHI SO LONG AGO!" the announcer said excitedly, but Xander never paid attention.

Uub stared at his son hopefully. They had been working for years to bring out Xander and Kira's ability to turn into super saiyans, a prospect that Uub had once thought impossible due to the very limited amount of saiyan blood within them. It wasn't until they got confirmation from the supreme kais that achieving super saiyan was possible that Uub, Pan, Goten, and the rest of the Z-Fighters had been working tirelessly to help unlock the twin's hidden abilities. Uub suddenly caught movement around the warrior's house, a quick flash of a multicolored hat. Uub promptly excused himself and left the stands.

"Training him...in the middle of the tournament. Are you sure it's too late to back out?" Raiyo asked Seida, who was leaning out over the railing. Since Raiyo was among one of the only fighters left in the tournament the overseers gave him, Seida, and the rest of the combatants access to the top balcony room. Seida looked back angrily at Raiyo, but her anger was only a cover for her fear. These people were unreal in their strength and skill and probably could break mountains without too much effort. She worried for Raiyo and wanted so badly to just tell him to ditch the tournament plan and they go back home. Except that they don't have a home more so than a shelter, and that was being taken away too. She knew this and Raiyo knew it as well, but the difference between the two is that for Raiyo is if he walked out now it would hurt worse than fighting those twins combined!

Suddenly Seida heard a noise, like footsteps right behind her. She turned her head fully around to see a large middle aged man with dark skin and a wild, black Mohawk that stuck out in spikes like Raiyo's hair. He stood in the room but close to the door, as if he expected this to go quickly. Raiyo noticed the surprised look on Seida's have and turned to see what she was looking at, as soon as he had he jumped back and assumed a defensive stance. "Who are you, and what are you doing here?" Raiyo asked steely. "My name is Majuub, and I've come to try and warn you." He said, never changing his serious expression. At this Raiyo let his guard drop slightly, had he really just heard that? "Warn me about what?" Raiyo asked curiously. "My daughter, Kira."

"AAAAARRRRGH!" Xander screamed at the top of his lungs, continuously trying for that last burst of energy to send him into super saiyan status. The energy waves being put out was enough to cause normal humans to hold onto something so they wouldn't fly away. Each one of the Z-Fighters, Kira included, looked on at the display disappointedly. "He may be incredibly strong, but he's still unable to go super saiyan." Trunks noted absentmindedly. "I just don't understand, the kai's said that he would be capable of it even with the minuscule amount of saiyan blood within him. So what's going on!?" Pan said in a distressing tone. Of course she wants to see her own kids become extremely powerful but not if they have to push themselves this hard to achieve even a tiny victory.

"You're...daughter?!" Raiyo was immediately on guard again. "I don't mean to sound rude mister," Seida was saying with her hands up as if to say 'no offense'. "You're daughter is the one who started this! She attacked Goken and me-" "I know." "And she insisted on not listening to... Did you say that you know?" Seida asked confusedly, she had pictured this in her head to go a completely different direction. "Look, Kira is as hot headed as her mother and I'm genuinely sorry if she gave you crap about this whole name business," Raiyo was now giving his full attention. "But you have to understand that she can hold a grudge like no one else and she will not hold back in your fight!" Uub said with a concerned expression, he didn't want an innocent death to ever be on his or his family's conscience.

"Wait, are you telling me to drop out?" Raiyo asked, his temper suddenly flared. "Out of your own safety, you have no idea what you're getting yourself into!" Uub tried to convince the mysterious fighter. "If it's any consolation we'll split the money and you can-" but Uub was cut off when a vase was hurled at his head. Uub barely dodged the projectile as it raced past and shattered on the outside hallway wall. Uub looked back to where Raiyo was standing but found he had vanished. Uub then looked back over at Seida and found her standing frozen in shock, staring at something off to her right. Uub looked over to see Raiyo next to an empty side table, an angry expression showing through his dark glasses. "If I wanted your help I would have asked," Raiyo was now furious, here he was now being openly asked to drop out before his first fight AND it's by his opponent's dad of all things! "I don't take charity, I'm going to first defeat Kira and then I'm going for Xander. I'm winning this tournament, you can either live with it or get lost!" Raiyo now had his fists clenched. Uub was taken aback by his resolve, but his surprise quickly turned to anger. "I give you the chance to walk away and you just blow it off?! FINE, let's see how long you last in the ring!" And with that Uub stormed out of the balcony room. For a couple seconds neither friend said anything to the other. It was Seida who finally spoke up, "You certainly do have a knack for making enemies, though I would have expected you to jump on the chance on a way out of fighting. Especially if you could have gotten a fair bit of money by doing so." Seida said, still in shock by what took place. "It's not about the money anymore," Raiyo looked down as his body shook with rage. "I'm going to win this tournament and prove to these sons of bitches that I deserve to be in this arena!"

"Come on Xander, feel the energy building and release!" Goten fervently screamed at his nephew. Goten knew that if Xander kept building energy like this then the arena was going to break apart right under them. Xander could only see red in his vision as he made his final push towards ascension, he thought he could feel his hair become spikier. With one final scream, Xander released everything he had into this last ditch effort. Almost immediately after the attempt, Xander collapsed on the ground. His muscles didn't grow, his hair didn't become yellow and spiky, even his eyes didn't change color...he was still himself.

Goten looked disappointedly at his nephew, "We've tried everything and yet he still can't go super saiyan, what else is there?" Goten mused to himself. Then an idea struck him. Xander struggled to haul himself up off the ground, he had used up most of his energy in that last attempt and yet still nothing. "I'm sorry uncle Goten, but I can't do it." Xander said with his head bowed. "I can see that, so I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt." Goten said. Xander looked up in confusion at his uncle, "What is he talking about?" But Xander got his answer when Goten flew up and out of the tournament stadium. "UH, DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE HE'S GOING?" the announcer asked, taking a glance towards the Z-Fighters to see their equally confused faces. "WELL WITH NO OTHER CONFIRMATION, I DECLARE XANDER THE WINNER OF THIS MATCH BY FORFEIT!" He called over his booming mic. The crowd roared with praise once more but Xander didn't pay them any mind, "He...forfeited, just because I couldn't go super saiyan?!?" Xander felt humiliated at the notion, which in turn led to anger.

Raiyo and Seida looked on at the spectacle with icy expressions. "Looks like it's my time to shine." Raiyo said monotone. He and Seida glanced up and nodded towards each other. Seida then wrapped Raiyo in a reassuring hug, which he gratefully returned.

Uub had finally returned to his seat, his face never changing from a scowl. Kira noticed her father's irate expression, "Hey dad, you okay?" Uub then turned his attention to his daughter and his anger seemingly melted. A look of confidence came upon his face as he gave a reassuring smile. "I'm fine, I just wanted to wish you luck before your fight. I want you to give it your best!" He said and enveloped Kira in a hug. "Thank you, father." Kira said and returned the act of kindness

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I AM PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THE NEXT FIGHT. WE ARE ABOUT TO BARE WITNESS TO THE BATTLE OF NAMES, SON KIRA VERSUS SON GOKEN!"
