Night Comfort
Ezra rolled over.
It was late at night, and everyone had gone to bed.
Ezra was staying in one of the caves that Zeb and Sabine shared.
Moonlight was pouring through one of the holes in the stone walls
Even though he's had such a big day, he felt wide awake.
The only noises he could hear were the crickets and Zeb's snoring.
With a sigh, he got up and padded quietly out of the cave.
He stopped on the edge of the rocky cliff that overlooked the meadow.
He lay down and let the gentle breeze ruffle his tail feathers.
The moon bathing him in light.
"Ezra?"
The young dragon jumped and looked round.
Ahsoka stood there, looking at him curiously.
"Hello Ahsoka" Ezra said a little nervously.
Ahsoka indeed looked like a gentle dragon, but considering he only just met her, he was a little cautious.
"What are you doing out here?" She asked coming over.
Ezra was relieved to hear she didn't sound angry. Just concerned.
"Couldn't sleep" Ezra replied quietly looking back up at the moon.
Ahsoka lay down beside him.
"What was stopping you?" Ahsoka asked.
"Well, today I was on the run from Imperial dragons. My parents were killed right in front me. And now, I've joined a group of dragons I only just met."
Ahsoka was quiet for a second. Ezra hoped he hadn't offended her.
"Believe me Ezra. I know what it's like to feel lost. I felt that way a few years ago. Then I joined this pack and my life had become so much better. These dragons will treat you like family Ezra. Just a word of advice, never get on Zeb, Chopper or Hera's bad side. It ain't pretty."
"What about Kanan?" Ezra asked.
"Yeah, let's not go there" Ahsoka chuckled.
Ezra gave a soft giggle which made Ahsoka's smile grow. The cub had seemed so uncertain and afraid, it was nice to hear him laugh a little.
The two dragons watched the night sky. A herd of fireflies danced above them. Illuminating the trees.
"How'd you know I was awake?" Ezra asked after a while.
"The Force. I have it. I could sense you were up. Plus, I couldn't sleep myself, so I decided to come check you were okay."
"What's your role in the pack?" Ezra asked curiosly.
"I'm kinda the nanny here. I look after Sabine when the rest of the pack are out. But half of the time, I can hardly control her" Ahsoka chuckled.
"She doesn't look too bad. I saw her today when she was in a kill mode. But after that, I think she has a nice side" Ezra told her.
"Trust me, she can be nice, but sometimes, she can be nothing but downright trouble" Ahsoka smiled.
Ezra smiled back at her before yawning and laying his head on the rock.
"Are you and Kanan the last Force sensitive dragons left apart from Vader and his Inquisitors?" He asked sleepily.
"Full of questions aren't you?" Ahsoka said.
"Sorry. It's just, I have so much I want to know" Ezra apologized.
"It's alright. And I think so. Most Force sensitive dragons were killed, so yes. We might be the last ones left" Ahsoka replied.
She suddenly felt weight on her side and glanced down.
Ezra was sleeping against her, his sides rising and falling as he breathed deeply.
It wasn't long before soft snores came from him.
Ahsoka smiled softly at the cub.
He looked so innocent and sweet like this.
Carefully, she picked him up and took him to her cave.
Laying down, she wrapped her paws and wings around him for warmth and curled up.
"Good night Ezra" she whispered closing her eyes.
Sleep soon entered her system and the two dragons rested peacefully.
Suggestions are appreciated and welcome.
