Chapter 7

Hey everyone! New update, yayy. Lol

First of all, I would like to thank everyone who has been supporting me. I love you guys so much!!!

Okay so this chapter has a religious angle and I just want to make it clear that it does NOT portray my religious views in any way. I'm just a writer, airing Ricky's views on things.

Anyways, Since that is all cleared up, enjoy!

School on Tuesday started out well since we had biology first period and got a whopping 97% on our project. We breezed through P.E which I find annoying because changing is involved and two classes later, lunch time arrived.

Just as I take my seat, I notice Drew coming over with a smirk on his face.

"What are you doing here?" Mary asks looking annoyed.

"Ricky says I get to sit here until mid-terms." He replies, smirking.

"Is this true?" she looks at me questioningly.

"Yeah, it is. Over here Drew." I call and he takes the seat across from me.

Mary sighs and I shrug not willing to explain the whole Emily drama to her. She starts talking to Drew soon enough though and I smile. Andrew has a way with people; Especially Alex's friends.

Soon the whole group arrives, I introduce Andrew to the twins and we make small talk while eating.

"So, uh Adira." I say. "I checked Skillet out. They're pretty good."

"Their singing is mint, innit?" she asks smiling. "They're Christian too."

"Yeah... I read a little info on them so I know. Are you Christian?"

"Yeah we are. You're not?"

"Nah. I'm just a going-with-the-flow kind of person. Alex and Andrew are though." And just like that I steer the conversation away from my nonexistent religious life as Adira and Alex start talking.

I am surprised that the twins are Christian though. They don't seem to fall into any of the two categories I created for Christians that I've met which are, drumroll please, the 'holier-than-thou' group and 'the fraudsters'.

Most Christians are snobby little perfectionists who think they're better than everyone else. The others just claim to be Christian, I'm not sure they actually know what they're doing but I'm in no place to judge since I'm not sure how they're meant to act anyways.

Alex and Andrew are actually no different. They only say they are because their parents are. It's not like they really care or anything. They rarely even go to church when their parents are not around. They fall under the fraudsters but in a good way.

Well I guess I just need to spend more time with the twins to figure out which group they belong to.

"So uh, how do we tell you guys apart when you don't wear your hair differently?" I blurt out without meaning to. It's just a thought I've been turning over and over again in my head.

They both laugh and by now, everyone is paying attention. I mean, who doesn't want to know how?

"Why would we tell you guys?"

"Because we really want to be able to tell you guys apart." Alex puts in, practically pleading.

The twins give each other an indecipherable look.

"Look closely at our faces." Davina says. "You should see it soon enough."

They've got the entire lunch table staring at them for a while but they just sit there smiling, not helping out. This must look so weird to people not sitting at our table

I'm just about to whine when Andrew exclaims excitedly. "I see something!"

The girls give each other a look as Drew proceeds.

"If you look at Adira's face really closely, you'll see a tiny birthmark in the corner of her left eye. Davina has one too, but close to her right eye."

"That is so true," squeal the girls in unison.

Once I see the birthmarks, I can't 'un-see' them and it gets me wondering how I didn't notice in the first place. Way to go Andrew.

Soon the bell goes to signal the end of lunch and we all split up. After pointing the twins to their next class, I head to the library since I have a free period and grab a book to read.

Most people think it's weird that I actually read since I'm a boy but I love reading. It gives my over-active imagination something to do.

Funny thing is I'm not exactly a genius at English even though reading supposedly makes you better. However, Alex doesn't read and he's awesome at English. Oh well, I guess that's just how life goes.

I sigh taking a seat at the back to keep away any freshman girls who might want to bug me. Sometimes, being hot and still nice has its downsides too.

When the bell goes, I pack my stuff into my book bag, sign out the book and head towards my Food and Nutrition class. There aren't many boys in this class and I only picked it because it's an easy A.

Spotting a seat at the back, I settle in and continue reading my book since the teacher isn't here yet only raising my head when I hear the chair next to me moving.

Adira smiles, "Uh, do you mind if I sit here?" she asks.

I shake my head and she plops down on the chair just as the teacher walks in.

Our Food and Nutrition teacher fits the part. She has dark hair, grey eyes and is well, large to put it in a nice way. She's cool though and everyone loves her classes.

"Today you'll be picking your projects for this half of the term." She announces while picking up a jar from her desk. It's filled with scrunched up papers.

"The project will be on food from different cultures. Since we have an even numbered class today and you're all seated in twos, you'll have to partner up with whoever is sitting next to you." I flash a smile at Adira, mentally doing my happy dance.

"One of you from your pair will walk up here and pick a piece of paper. You'll have to prepare a meal from whatever country you've chosen. If you need to do some research, you're free to head to the computer lab for the rest of the period. Just be sure to get a pass first."

"You'll also have to submit a written project on the dish you're preparing but you'll have to do that in your spare time. Written projects are due in two weeks' time but you can make the food at home and bring it over."

I hear a few groans before she continues, "Please remember to hand in a copy of the ingredients you'll need if you want to prepare your chosen menu in school so I can start making preparations. Thank you." She moves to her desk and sits down.

People start discussing among themselves excitedly as they shuffle forward to pick their countries.

"You should go pick it, you know" I say to Adira,

"Nah, it's okay. You do it." She replies smiling.

It's not a big deal anyway so I walk towards Ms. Agatha, our teacher's desk and reach my hand into the jar. I hold it in its scrunched up form until I get back to our table. Handing it to Adira, she smiles and opens it up. Holding it out so I can take a look.  The words INDIA are written on it in Ms. Agatha's neat cursive.

"This gives us a wide range of options." Says Adira excitedly

"Exactly" I try to match her enthusiasm. "We should probably head to the ICT lab, do some research."

"Yeah, that's a good idea. I'll get us a pass." She says getting up.

She puts the pass in her pocket and we pack up our stuff heading downstairs to the computer room. Once we get there, we show our pass and get seated at a computer.

Several web pages later, we finally come up with a dish that seems easy enough to prepare and is thankfully non-vegetarian.

We take notes on the dish, recipe, procedures and whatnot before packing our stuff. I head up to give a copy of the ingredients to Ms. Agatha before heading to my next class.

As we leave, Adira heads to the library since she has a free period and already knows where the library's at.

Passively, I breeze through my next few classes and the day finally comes to an end. Just as I'm packing my stuff from my locker, Adira walks up to me.

"Want to meet up this weekend at my place to work on our project?"

"Sure." I smile even though it isn't due anytime soon.

"Okay then. Bye, see you tomorrow." She waves.

"Bye" I call as she walks away.

I pack my stuff and head outside where my mum is waiting to pick me up. I'd say it was a pretty good day.
