Leaving (2/?)
It's been two months since they last saw Lucas. He just disappeared one night and never returned. David and Leo woke up one morning and Lucas was gone. His sleeping bag was gone as was his backpack. At first they thought that he went on a supply run but there was no note. Lucas always left a note. After searching the premises for him they went into the city. Lucas was nowhere to be found. There was nothing to say that he was in the city. They searched for days, slowly losing hope that they would find him. They asked Michael and even went to Safe Haven asking everyone there. Eventually, they stopped purposely looking for him. When they went on supply runs they would keep a look out but they weren't expecting anything. Sometimes they could swear that would hear Lucas's laugh or smell something that reminded them of him.
They wondered if it was because of them he left. If they took their teasing to far, but why didn't he speak up? David cleaned up his act after that and acted less like an asshole. Well, most of the time. David and Leo felt off balance without their third. They kept making comments and expecting Lucas to reply only to hear silence. Leo would grab extra things when they went supply running to give to Lucas only to stop short when he remembered that Lucas was gone. David would start sharpening some left over knives for Lucas only to be reminded that Lucas wasn't with them anymore.

Lucas loved being a part of the Misfits. He had somehow become second in command, with only the leader Austin being above him. This meant that if Austin wasn't available the Misfits came to him for help. Lucas still surprised at how much they trusted him and was always ready to prove that the trust in him was not misplaced.
"Mum! We're back from our supply run." Lucas sighed as Bri entered the building with Austin trailing behind her with a smirk.
"How many times have I told you not to call me Mum?" Lucas said exasperated, taking the backpacks from Bri and Austin.
"So many that I've lost count." Bri giggled at Lucas who rolled his eyes.
"You have to admit, you do take care of them like a mother does." Austin butted in, smirk still on his face.
Lucas lifted an eyebrow, "Does this make you the father?"
Austin's smirk dropped and he started sputtering, "What, no. Why would you think that?"
"Because you act like a dad. Always making sure they're okay, that they know how to protect themselves and if they don't, you teach them and you protect them yourself." Lucas explained, putting a hand on his hip. Bri laughed at Austin's face at that explanation.
"Whatever." Austin pouted, crossing his arms and looking away from them.
"I'll talk to you guys later. I've got to take inventory of the supplies you have gathered." Lucas turned away from the pair and headed upstairs.
"Hey! Wait! I'll come with you, I need to ask you something anyway." Austin jogged up to Lucas and walked with him. Together they went to the supply room. Lucas put the backpacks on the table and grabbed the clipboard. He began to empty the backpacks and grouped the items together. Food, medicine, water, toiletries, weapons and miscellaneous. Lucas wrote down what they had and how many of each item. If they previously had these items he would add a tally mark next to the item's name.
Austin had jumped up on the table and perched there watching Lucas unpack the supplies and write down what they had with a fond smile. Honestly Lucas was one of the best decisions he ever made. Things went a lot more smoothly when Lucas joined, he was glad that Colin suggested the idea of Lucas joining the Misfits. Austin waited patiently for Lucas to finish before talking to him.
Lucas set the book down after he had finished writing down the supplies they had and turned to Austin, "What was it you wanted to ask me?"
"Do you want to go out freak watching with me?" Austin asked with a smile.
"Freak watching? That would be nice, I haven't gotten out in a while. Hopefully the place won't crumble while we're gone." Lucas joked with a smirk.
Austin laughed, "This place crumbles while we're still here. It won't make that much of a difference."
"True. When do you want to go freak watching?" Lucas asked, leaning against the table.
"Tonight. Are you free?" Austin rested his elbows on his knees and looked at Lucas.
"Yeah. I should be, unless any emergencies happen." Lucas agreed. He picked up some cans and started to put them away.
Austin leapt off the table, "I've got some things I have to do. See you around seven?"
"See you at seven. Now go." Lucas shooed him away and turned back to putting the supplies away. Austin waved and left, shutting the door behind him.
