Trust me, I'm the Doctor.
"Jin hyung!" Hoseok screamed as he saw his brother's body convulse and drop from the top of the fence. Luckily, Taehyung and Jungkook were right there to catch Jin in their arms before he smacked into the pavement with a loud crack.
Hoseok didn't bother wasting time climbing all the way down the fence, once he had descended half way he decided to jump. He needed to make sure his hyung was okay.
While being cradled in the two youngest boys arms, Jin's eyes were closed as his head swayed back and forth.
"Hyung? Hyung, can you hear us?!" Jungkook shed tears as he watched Jin's face scowl in pain. He turned to see Dr. Park slowly making his way over. "Dr. Park! Help! Help! The fence was electric and it electrocuted him! Please hurry, Dr. Park!" He was desperate for the doctor to come help and save his hyung. Somehow, anyhow. It didn't matter. All he knew was that Dr. Park was the adult here and would know how to help better than any of them would.
Dr. Park met up with the three boys surrounding Jin and glared down at him. "Hm, so it would appear the fence was electric. What a shame, but he will be alright."
"He needs to go to the hospital!" Taehyung was wiping the tears that were spilling from Jin's eyes, despite the fact that they were still closed. He lightly patted his hyungs face to try and help him regain consciousness. "Look at him!" Taehyung couldn't hold back his own waves of emotions. "He's really hurt. He's passed out! Please call an ambulance."
Hoseok, Jungkook, and Taehyung looked at Dr. Park with desperation.
Dr. Park kneeled down next to Jin's head, which was being cradled in Taehyung's lap. He gently tapped on Jin's cheek as the boy's head continued to sway. "Jin? Jin, can you hear me? It's time to open your eyes now, Jin. Your brothers here are quite worried. You have to show them that you'll be alright."
All of them stared down at him while his eyes slowly started to open. "Hmm? W-what h-happened?" Jin tried to blink away the blurry vision he'd been met with. As his vision focused and he saw everyone surrounding him, he felt the immense pain shoot through the core of his body and out through his extremities. "Ahh!" He winced and felt Taehyung grip onto him even tighter. He looked over at the fence and suddenly remembered touching the barbed wire at the top, only to have his body met with a volt of electricity.
"Fuck," Jin whispered as he contorted in pain. His body felt-he wasn't sure of the best way to describe it- heavy? Like someone had taken a battery and exploded it inside of his body and now he was just left with the weight of a corpse. Surprisingly to him, however, he was still very much alive.
Whether he felt fortunate about that or not, he wasn't too sure.
"Hyungie!" Jungkook cheered. "Does it hurt really badly? Are you okay?" Jungkook was running his hands up and down his brother's arms, trying to see if the simple touch would cause him pain. Miraculously, it didn't.
Hoseok was crying tears of joy. Not only was he thankful that Jin had opened his eyes, but he was also extremely grateful that Taehyung and Jungkook had been there to catch him from splattering all over the ground. He couldn't imagine how differently this would have turned out if they hadn't been there and acted quickly.
Dr. Park's lack of concern was expected at this point. Hoseok noticed it the most. He didn't know what kinds of things Dr. Park may have experienced in his life, so he didn't know if his lack of concern stemmed from genuinely not caring about them or from desensitization, having witnessed plenty of his own horrors in life. He tried to convince himself that Dr. Park clearly must have seen this happen to someone else before and that person ended up being okay. The thought of Dr. Park knowing from experience sent a new wave of questions flowing through Hoseok's mind. Who? When? Why?
The brothers comforted Jin with words of encouragement as Jin finally sat up. He was struck with an intense migraine and body aches, but he was capable of moving which was a relief. He looked down at the palm of his hand to see a slight red burn mark snaking across his skin. "Sss-" he hissed in pain, "this hurts."
Hoseok furrowed his brows as the questions in his head were sending him into a downward spiral of madness. He looked over at Dr. Park- who was still kneeling next to Jin and inspecting the wound on his hand- and couldn't hold back. "Did you know the barbed wire at the top was an electric fence? I mean, you own this place, don't you? It's your fence. You're the one who runs the electricity here. I can only assume that you knew, did you not?" He stared at Dr. Park with an unwavering look of accusal, watching intently to see if the doctor showed any kind of body language that would scream "Yes, I knew."
"I did not. It's an old building, and with it being recently bought I am still learning the ins and outs of this place myself. I apologize for not being more aware, however trust me when I say I will make sure to figure out how to turn this fence off. No need for it to be electric. This isn't a prison." Dr. Park's expression didn't falter. He seemed quite genuine, which lightened Hoseok's heart just a little bit.
Just an honest mistake.
"Now," Dr. Park stood up and grabbed Jin's wrist, slowly hoisting the boy to his feet. "Why don't we put some medicine on your wound and let you rest?"
Taehyung cleared his throat as a slight bit of nerves poked at his chest. "Uhm, I still think he needs to go to the hospital. This was a pretty serious thing." He started anxiously scratching at the back of his neck.
"Taehyung, trust me. I'm the doctor."
"But not the kind he needs right now," Taehyung replied, becoming quite insistent. "He should go to the hospital. You had no problem sending Namjoonie and Yoongi when they needed to go."
Jin wasn't so sure what he wanted at this point, but then realized that a trip to the hospital would mean he'd be able to scout out his two brothers who had been previously sent there. "I think Taehyung is right. It hurts a lot..."
"Rest up for a bit and we will see how you're feeling later. Come along now, let's get you some water and clean up this wound." Dr. Park gently pulled Jin towards the building as his little brothers followed, unsure of how to help.
Taehyung wasn't done. "Dr. Park he NEEDS to go to the-"
Dr. Park turned and glared at Taehyung without saying a word. Jungkook grabbed Taehyung's arm and yanked him in close to whisper in his ear. "Taehyungie stop it. You're going to make him angry and I don't want to see him angry. Let's just listen, okay? If Jin hyung doesn't feel better later I'm sure he will go to the hospital but don't anger the doctor. Please."
Jungkook and Taehyung both had flashbacks to when their father would beat them black and blue over minor mistakes and annoyances. Fear gripped around Jungkook's heart. He didn't know what Dr. Park was capable of, but if it was beating Taehyung for being bad, he didn't want to know or witness it happen.
Jungkook still had no real reason to assume the doctor would do such a thing, but there was still that deep lack of trust.
Everyone headed inside and Jin was given some water as he curled up in bed. It was nice to lay down on something that wasn't pavement. The doctor brought in some antiseptic and burn cream, along with some bandages to cover up the wound on Jin's hand. The boy flinched when the cream hit his skin. It burned worse than the wound itself, but he knew in the long run it would help.
"Now," Dr. Park began, "you all just relax for the rest of the day. I know it's quite early, but I'd imagine you guys are already exhausted from the day's events. Don't worry about having to cook lunch or dinner tonight either...
I will cook it."
