I looked around to see both Jax and Marry asleep on my lap. Jax still had dried tears on his face.

I felt something wet on my cheeks and I sighed.

"I couldn't have made it later into the night." I said, wiping the tears off of Jax's face.

I started to wipe the tears off of my face.

"Mom." I said, and my insides broke.

I almost screamed in grief, but I bit my tongue. I pushed back my emotions and started to pet Jax and Marry's hair.

"You guys are the only reason I haven't gone insane yet." I said, and I saw Jax smile, slightly.

I couldn't move either of them, so I just sat there, and slowly, I drifted into a dreamless sleep.
