Why is that out of all the times he could've shown up he chooses now? We were so close! I finally had my closure! I thought it was finally over! "It's not over until I say it is, Zero... The battle has only just begun."

(Reader's P.O.V.)

Zero suddenly clutches his head. "Zero? What's wrong?" He falls to one knee, his breath suddenly getting uneven. "Ngh... It... It's him. He's still alive. I don't know how but I can hear him in my head..." I try to help him to his feet as we face Eggman's giant robot. "Uhh... Sonic? You got a plan?" "Do what we usually do. Kick butt and save the world." He and his mini doppelganger jump after the robot. "Zero? Are you going to be okay?" "I'll be fine. Go help them. I'll be right behind you." I run after Sonic and charge my (F/W) wispon to attack Eggman's death egg robot. Sonic's mini-me was the first to start the attack. Dodging lasers and sending projectiles back at the enemy, Sonic's miniature managed to bring the enemy to my platform. Using my wispon, I fire at the machine's arms and use my zip wire to hit his head. Finally, the robot falls slack but the scream from Zero makes me worry. "Zero!" I rush to his side as suddenly the world around us goes dark. What's happening now? I look up to see yet another robot in the distance. Does he ever give up? "(Y/N) listen... You have to beat that thing. The ruby... it's inside that thing. I'm sorry I'm not going to be much help..." "Don't worry about it. You just focus on making yourself better." I hug him and head after the robot. Eggman's gone too far this time.

(Infinite's P.O.V.)

Trying to steady my breathing as I use my sword as a crutch, I make my way towards the machine. Just as Sonic and (Y/N) destroy that mechanical monstrosity a sharp pain shoots through my chest. "Did you really think it would be that easy, fools?"
