Chapter 13: Mystery

¤¤¤Michael's POV¤¤¤

I searched house from house in an insane speed. But even if I do it so fast I can't find Michelle or even Alois and Ciel.

I stopped adruptly in an alleyway trying to stop my dizziness. I leaned on the brick wall calming myself down as I am about to begin one of my coughing fits again.

"My, what a state you are in."

I looked up towards the roof and saw the fallen angel. He jumped down and landed gracefully on his feet just right in front of me. He seized my jaw.

"Too bad no one can help you this time..." His hand's grip hardened as he put a hankerchief on my nose.

"Hey, what are you doing?" A familiar voice shouted from outside the alleyway just before my consciousness fade completely.

Third Person's POV

The first thing that happened when Michael woke up was his coughing fit. Landing on the red velvet carpet of the floor from the soft relaxing bed he wheezed and coughed violently, trashing around while sweating bullets. The door opened.

"My lord, please drink this." Sebastian's voice said and helped Michael drink his medicine. He helped Michael back to the bed.

As Michael gain more consiousness, he looked around seeing an unfamiliar room.

"Sebastian, where am I?" Michael asked as Sebastian offered him a cup of tea.

"We are currently in the Hitachiin Mansion."

"Why?"

"We can explain that." Michael turned to the door and saw Hikaru and Kaoru. They beckoned for Sebastian to leave and sat themselves at the seats beside the bed.

"We thought we saw you at an alley not far from here." Hikaru began. "But when we went to look at the alley, you were with this guy who's wearing white. Do you know him?"

"No." Michael half-lied. He didn't know who he was but he does know he's the fallen angel they have been looking and a very good hider.

"Thought so." Kaoru continued. "So we confronted the guy. He muttered something anout not harming humans and flew away?"

Michael looked at the two, trying to determine if they were lying. Looks like they weren't. Michael sighed.

"You saw too much." He muttered.

"What exactly is happening? You, Michelle, Alois and Ciel haven't gone to school since last last week. Is there something wrong?" Kaoru asked with a concerned and confused look.

"It has nothing to do with you." Michael snapped and stood up. That is, before sitting back to the bed because of dizziness.

Hikaru sighed. "You should rest. We'll be calling the Host Club." And with that, they left.

"Sebastian, have you found anything?" Michael asked as soon as the door slammed shut.

"I have determined the missing component." Sebastian said. "It was a purging liquid."

Michael's eyes widen as they turned into a crimson color.

"It doesn't mean that, does it?"

"I'm afraid that's what it is." Even from the concerned tone that Sebastian was making, it was clear that he was happy. He was about to have that soul he had been craving for centuries.

Michael's face contorted in disgust. "Remove that annoying look from your face. It's disgusting."

"With all due respect my lord," Sebastian said with a tight smile. "I have my own right to have my own opinion on situations."

"As if a demon like you has any right." Michael sneered quietly.

Sebastian was making his way out but glanced slightly back at Michael.

"Back at you, my lord."

Michael sighed as he stared at the blank ceiling. He felt like he had been laying there for days. The sound of a door opening made it's way to Michael's ears making him turn his head to that direction.

"Hey." Kaoru greeted.

"What are you doing here?" Michael sat up with a frown. He was thinking of a lot of things and didn't want to be interrupted for a good while.

Kaoru smiled apologetically. "I'm just here to say sorry, for me and Hikaru."

"What for?"

Kaoru's smile left his face as he hung his head low. "For not helping you and Michelle back when, you know."

Michael looked at Kaoru with no expression in his face. He can clearly see guilt in Kaoru's actions.

"What's past is past. Mistakes are just another part of life. Mistakes help make better people for a better future. We learnt something. Time's change. And we change. We don't care about that because things just happen. So don't hang your head low and look up."

Like what happened before Michelle and I became demons, Michael thought.

Kaoru hesitantly looked up and saw that Michael has a small smile in his face but it felt kind of cold. But the relief of having this guilt of his heart masked the coldness.

"Thanks. I hope we can be friends."

"Probably."

Kaoru left. As soon as Kaoru closed the door Hikaru was looking at him from his seat.

"So how was it?" Hikaru asked.

"It was okay, he said." Kaoru replied with a smile tugging on his lips. A wave of relief and freedom washed through Hikaru as he relaxed on his seat.

"You should've came." Kaoru told his brother.

Hikaru shrugged. "I'm not good at apologizing."

"Yeah but you could have at least come with me. It was really scary to talk to him alone like that."

"Yeah yeah. But hey, we're okay now, right?" Hikaru asked.

"I think so. But I'm really worried about Michelle. Where is she anyway?"

"The last time we saw here was two weeks ago, I think."

"Why are they so shrouded with mystery?" They both thought.
