Chapter 8 ~ Hagrid's Class

The rest of the classes were boring. Hermione somehow went to her other classes at nine o'clock, so I was stuck with being bored. Harry and I were passing notes to each other and Ron was snoring on the other side of me. I really wanted to know how he managed to pass the exams at the end of the year.

Our notes were mostly about Malfoy and what Professor Trelawney said in class. Harry still found it funny, so of course, I whacked him on the arm when he wrote that. I found it very disturbing. I already found him and Parkinson disturbing enough. Besides, we hated each other and it would have never worked out, anyway.

Harry and I stopped passing notes after we got bored talking about Malfoy. I started fidgeting with my hands and Harry put his head down on the desk. I looked at Malfoy, watching as he was copying down notes off the board. Crabbe and Goyle gave me an evil glare and I raised my eyebrows at them. I started taking the notes as well just because I was bored. When I looked over beside Ron, Hermione was sitting there, scribbling the notes as well.

Ron jumped up when Hermione hit his arm. Ron looked at her in confusion, then he looked at me. "When did she get here?"

I shrugged and looked back at the board. I was ready to go back to the Gryffindor Tower and just chill out on the couch by the fire. It was very relaxing. I liked being alone with my thoughts.

The bell finally rang after a long time of waiting. Everyone headed down to the Great Hall for lunch. After that, it was Hagrid's class. This would be interesting.

The four of us sat together with Ron sitting beside me and with Harry and Hermione sitting across from us. We ate and talked about random stuff until it was finally time to go down to Hagrid's Hut. He lived just on the edge of the Forbidden Forest, where Harry, Ron, Hermione, and I had a lovely experience our first year and first detention there. I was sure that Malfoy did as well. I still thought about that night. The night Lord Voldemort-- okay, I really didn't wanna talk about that.

But we were walking down to Hagrid's Hut when Ron and Hermione started talking about the whole "three classes at once" thing again. Then Hermione brought up how Divination shouldn't be considered a class at Hogwarts. I totally agreed with her, but I actually thought about what she said about Malfoy and I. That was the first time I actually stayed awake in that class.

The Slytherins and other Gryffindors were already down there, waiting for Hagrid to tell them the lesson. We stood there, talking to one another when Hagrid finally told us about our first lesson. He led us into the Forbidden Forest at an open area where we were capable of sitting on huge rocks. It was beautiful.

"Open yer books to page forty-nine," Hagrid told us.

"And how exactly do we do that?" Malfoy asked him in a sour tone.

"Jus' stroke the spine, of course!" Hagrid replied before he turned around, sounding annoyed.

Malfoy looked at the spine and stroked it, giving Hagrid a glare while he was leaving. Neville opened his book and screamed as it started to attack him.

"I'm okay...I'm okay...AHHH!" Neville screamed again.

We put our books on a rock big enough for all four of us. Hermione rolled her eyes, "I think they're funny," she said in a sarcastic tone.

"Oh, yeah, terribly funny," Malfoy spoke up, smirking. "Really witty. Merlin, this place has gone to the dogs. Wait until my father hears that Dumbledore's got this oaf teaching classes." His friends laughed with him.

"Shut up, Malfoy," I snapped, raising my eyebrows.

The Slytherins all raised their eyebrows at me.

He chuckled and gave his bag to Crabbe for him to hold. He walked up to me and stopped when he got to just inches away from my face. I felt his hot breath again hitting my face like when he was on top of me the other night. It smelled like mint and it smelled so good...oh, wait, focus! Okay, just relax...even though I could smell it now...I couldn't help but smell it. Oh, how it smelled so good. What if that minty breath was--

"Dementor! Dementor!"

Everyone turned around in a panic as the Slytherins were cackling. When we turned back around, Malfoy and his posse put their hoods on and started to make creepy sounds. I rolled my eyes and went back with the other three. That was when Hagrid came back with a friend. I didn't know what it was, but the creature was beautiful and magnificent.

"Say hello to Buckbeak!" His voice boomed as he gave him a dead ferret. Malfoy gave it a disgusting look like his other followers did.

"Hagrid, exactly what is that?" Ron asked.

"That, Ron, is a Hippogriff. They're very proud creatures. I would be careful if yer ever run into one. Now, who would like to come say hello?!"

We all backed away except for Harry. Hagrid turned around and pointed at Harry. He went up slowly and carefully, making sure he didn't upset the creature. Everyone else was worried except me. If I went up there, no one would be worried about me.

I stood beside Hermione, watching Harry go up to Buckbeak. Malfoy shoved us and a bunch of other people while taking a bite into his apple. I went over to him and knocked the apple out of his hand. He looked at me, shocked that I would do such a thing. Well, I did, and it felt good, too.

I grinned, crossing my arms, and raising my eyebrows. Who knew Malfoy would get all worked up over an apple. Couldn't his rich daddy just buy him another one? Or even a whole basket of them?

No one was looking at us. Instead, they were paying attention to Harry and Hagrid. Only Crabbe, Goyle, Parkinson, and some other Slytherins were looking at us. He smirked at me before he shoved me.

"Looks like you're not all big and bad, are you?" he said.

His Slytherin buddies started laughing, finding it funny. I rolled my eyes, making me go back with Ron and Hermione. By that time, Harry was on Buckbeak and they took off in the air. Everyone started talking, but I went over to where our stuff was at and just sat there.

I should've known. How could I have felt like I defeated Draco Malfoy for once?

Malfoy came towards me. "Why so sad, Potter?" He made a puppy dog face.

"Leave me alone, Malfoy," I told him.

"And why would I want to do that? I'm just trying to have a civilized conversation."

"Yeah, because you're such a pro at talking to Gryffindors without arguing with them," I said in a sarcastic tone. I scoffed and rolled my eyes at him before turning away.

He turned my head back facing his. "Look, don't think I'm gonna have sympathy for you just because you made the mistake of annoying me."

"I was not annoying you. I was bored, so I was trying to entertain myself. There's a difference."

"You're a terrible liar, you know that, Potter?" he said.

"Better than you," I snapped.

He moved his hand but I grabbed it just in time before he had time to shove me again. But he didn't let go. I didn't let go. We were just looking at each other, face-to-face, with our hands together, not moving. His hand was warm and mine was sweaty. Was I nervous? No, no, I wasn't. Why would I be nervous around Malfoy? It was weird. I was acting weird today for some reason. It was that chocolate that I ate on the train.

I took my hand away, giving him a glare. He did the same and walked away. Harry was back from his flight, which was when Malfoy did something stupid. "You're not that bad at all, are you?" He started walking up to Buckbeak and well...he wasn't too happy about that.

Buckbeak started going mad when Malfoy got to just a foot away from him. Malfoy fell to the ground, whimpering. Buckbeak scratched him, barely tearing up his sleeve. He started yelling, "It's killed me! It's killed me!" Hagrid picked him up, carrying him to the Hospital Wing and told us class was dismissed.

When we got back to the castle, we went to our other classes, continuing our normal routine. We all sat there, bored out of our minds, not paying attention. Pug-face looked sad after what happened to her so-called boyfriend back in Care of Magical Creatures. I couldn't help but think about Malfoy. He took my mind off things sometimes, even though it wasn't really healthy for me, to be honest. But how he wouldn't let go of my hand was weird. Was he trying to point out something?

I had also been thinking about going to Dumbledore to ask him about me living with Malfoy. I highly doubted he just randomly put me at their doorstep when I was a baby. There had to be a reason for it, right?

After classes were over, the four of us were sitting around the Gryffindor table. Pug-face was looking at Malfoy's arm. I heard Malfoy talking about how he could've lost his arm. Um, bitch, we were there when it happened. Parkinson and Malfoy were like drama queens or something. I was glad I wasn't like that.

"He's been sighted! He's been sighted! Sirius Black has been sighted!"

We all surrounded Seamus with the paper in his hand. According to the paper, he wasn't too far from Hogwarts. Harry and I just sat there, not saying anything. There was nothing to say about this. I was scared. Scared of what might happen next when he comes here.

I walked out of the Great Hall, heading down the corridor, my thoughts filled with fear.
