Chapter 22 ~ Back to Hell

Here it is! The last chapter of Double Trouble! I hope you enjoy!

We spent most of the afternoon outside with our brooms. Everyone wanted to fly them and reluctantly we gave in and let them. Seamus and Dean raced each other, then Fred and George. We even convinced Hermione and Ginny to ride with us. Ron would have to wait until his leg was fully healed, but we promised him a ride once he got better.

Hermione, Ginny, and I went back to our dorms because none of us were finished packing yet. Hermione was going to go back with her parents for the summer, Ginny was going back to the Burrow, and I was going back with the Malfoys. Who knew what they had in store for me when I got there.

"Well, another year has gone by," Hermione spoke up after Ginny finished her packing and left the room

"It seems like yesterday we were sorted into Gryffindor," I said.

"I can't believe we're gonna be fourth years," she exclaimed, smiling. "We're getting old."

"Yes, Hermione, we are getting very old," I laughed. "I wonder who's gonna be our new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher for next year."

"Lupin got sacked?!" Hermione asked in shock.

"No, he didn't get sacked. He resigned. Someone let slip about him being a werewolf. He thought it was the best thing to do."

Hermione sighed. "I guess he's right. But by far, he's been the best Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher we've had. No one can ever be as good as him."

"I don't disagree," I told her.

We finished packing and headed downstairs, where Harry and Ron were waiting for us. Harry was carrying Ron's trunk since he wasn't able to. The four of us headed out to the Hogwarts Express so we could find an empty compartment for just the four of us to sit in.

Once we were on, Hermione and Ron went ahead to find a compartment. Harry and I stayed behind to get some food off of the trolley. To my surprise, Harry paid for it.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm paying for both of us."

"But didn't we tie in that race?"

"Yes. But I owe you. I couldn't have saved Sirius without you."

"Are you sure, Harry?"

He chuckled. "Yes, Max, I'm sure. Just take the candy and let's go back to Ron and Hermione."

I shook my head at him and gladly took the candy from him. We headed back to the compartment and we sat down. Harry sat beside me, popping the candy he bought in his mouth.

"I still think I should've paid, Harry," I told him.

"Max, that was a once in a lifetime opportunity for you. Just be happy that I bought you something at all."

I laughed at him and happily popped the candy in my mouth. I offered some to Ron and Hermione, but they refused the it. I looked up and saw Hermione, who was smiling and laughing at us.

"What?" Harry asked her.

"You guys are so funny. It's also weird how you say stuff at the same time."

"What do you mean?" we asked at the same time.

Hermione laughed again and shook her head at us. "I guess it's a twin thing. You guys are really close, obviously."

"Duh," we both said at the same time again.

"Do you guys do that all the time?"

"Yes," we did it again.

"Will you two stop that?!" Ron blurted.

"Okay," we did it one last time.

We all laughed at Ron, who was so freaked out with us talking at the same time. It was hilarious, watching him have a panic attack over something so little or so stupid. It was mean, in a way, but at the same time it was pretty entertaining to watch.

I was gonna miss them over the summer. I always did every time we parted our ways for the summer. I remembered meeting them for the first time on the Hogwarts Express. Those two have been my best friends ever since. But Harry was always going to come first, and I was sure that I came first in his life as well. We cared about each other. But I also cared about Ron and Hermione.

"So, what do you think's gonna happen next year when we come back?" Hermione asked.

"Probably get another teacher who is mental," Ron replied in a harsh tone.

"Lupin was not mental, Ron. He just had a horrible condition," I informed him.

"Yeah, he was a werewolf!" Ron said.

"Did I hear someone say werewolf?" It was Malfoy as he slid the compartment door open. His friends, Crabbe, Goyle, and Parkinson were all standing behind him, snickering. "Wait until my father hears about this."

"Wait until he hears about your nose," I muttered. The other three snorted at my comment, trying to contain their laughter.

"What happened to your leg, Weasley? Did Granger here finally have enough?"

"Well, have you finally had enough of Parkinson yet? Or is she still following you around like a stalker usually does?" I snapped.

"Shut your mouth, Potterette! Draco and I are happy together! And where's your boyfriend at, may I ask?" She raised her eyebrows at me.

"I don't need a boyfriend to make me happy, Parkinson. I have these three people right here and that's all I need. Unlike you, who's probably using Malfoy for popularity."

Her mouth dropped open in shock. "How dare you accuse me of using Draco! We love each other, just so you know!"

Love? Draco Malfoy didn't love anyone. And I was pretty sure he didn't love Parkinson. She was a freak and a stalker.

"Well, you two would certainly make a cute couple," Hermione said. "I think Malfoy likes sloppy seconds and trashy Slytherin girls, anyway."

"Parkinson's a girl?" Ron asked in surprise. I looked down at my lap, trying not to laugh at Ron's sarcasm.

"Potterette! We need to talk. Now," Malfoy said, giving me a dirty look.

"She doesn't have to talk to you if she doesn't want to, Malfoy," Harry told him.

"Oh, I think she does," he replied, raising his eyebrows at me.

I sighed and headed out of my compartment with him. The other three were stuck with Crabbe, Goyle, and Parkinson, who were probably making fun of them and roaring with laughter. Half of the stuff they said wasn't even that funny.

"Okay, what do you want?" I asked him with my annoying tone.

"Look, you're not gonna get it easy once we get back. My father is planning some special surprises for you."

"And why are you telling me this?"

"Do you not know how bad he's gonna hurt you? I'm telling you this, because I want you to watch out for him."

I was starting to get annoyed by him. "Okay, look, Malfoy, I appreciate you trying to help me out, but I don't need you trying to tell me about your father's plans with me, okay? I can take care of myself."

He shrugged at me. "Fine. But don't say I didn't warn you." He gave me a glare and strutted off back to our compartment to grab his loser friends out of there. I went back in, sitting beside Harry again. I looked out the window, too upset to say anything.

"You okay, Max?" Harry asked me.

"I'm fine," I replied bluntly.

"What did he say to you?" Hermione asked.

I looked at her and just shook my head. "Nothing that was important to me."

No one else asked me anymore questions after that. There was nothing left to say. Malfoy got on my nerves. But then again, why would he warn me about his father? It was weird for him to do that.

We arrived at the station, getting ready to go back home for the summer. Except Harry and I basically left the only place that we considered home. Too bad we couldn't stay there forever. I would really like that. Harry would, too. We would both like that. I hated it that we had to leave Hogwarts, but it was only for the summer, which was a good thing, especially for me.

We bid Ron, Hermione, and the rest of the Weasleys goodbye for the summer. Mrs. Weasley kept on hugging the both of us, not wanting to let go. "Are you sure you two will be alright at your cousin's house?"

"Mrs. Weasley, we've been living there for thirteen years, I think we can handle them," I replied.

She just smiled at us. "You are coming to the Burrow at the end of the summer, right?"

"Of course," we both said at the same time, smiling.

Mrs. Weasley just laughed at us. "You sound just like Fred and George. Troublemakers." She smiled at us again "Behave yourselves, alright?"

"Bye, Mrs. Weasley," we said. She hugged us one last time and before we knew it they went through the wall.

I sighed. "Now if only we weren't lying."

"It's for the best, Max. Besides, Dumbledore told us that we couldn't tell anyone about you living with Malfoy."

"Yeah, I know. But I just can't stand lying to them every time they ask about how our summer was, did they hurt you in any way, and all that other shit. I'm tired of it, Harry. Why can't we just tell them already?"

Harry sighed and looked at me. "We'll tell them when it's the right time."

"Potter! Get over here now!" We turned around to see Lucius, Narcissa, and their arsehole of a son glaring at us. I was so not ready to leave Harry and go back home with them. But I had no choice.

I sighed and looked back at Harry. "I guess I should get going."

He nodded at me, then cleared his throat. "Okay, I'll see you at the Burrow sometime around the end of the summer, keep up with the map, and remember what I told you yesterday?"

"Yes, if it gets too rough over there, I'll send you an owl and you'll come get me," I said.

He gave me a serious look. "I'm serious, Max. I don't want you to get hurt while you're over there for the summer."

"I'll be fine. I'll write to you, I promise." I stuck out my pinky.

He chuckled and we linked our pinkies together. "I'll do the same." Then he pulled me into a hug. I didn't want to let go of him.

"Potter!"

"Okay, I gotta go," I told him. "I love you, Harry."

"I love you, too, Max," he replied.

"Oh! One more thing." I handed him my Firebolt. "I want you to keep it for now. Until we go back to the Burrow."

"But--"

"Malfoy threatened to take it from me if I brought it with me," I interrupted him. "Sirius spent a lot on these, and I don't want it falling into Malfoy's hands."

Harry sighed and took the broom out of my hand. "I'll see you soon, Max." With that, we parted ways. I watched him go through the wall in a matter of seconds.

"About time you showed up. Just so you know, I'm not letting you get away with that little stunt you pulled when we dropped Draco off here at the beginning of the year," Lucius told me.

I rolled my eyes and grinned at the memory that happened at the beginning of the year. It felt good when I did that.

"Come on, let's go."

We left the station and headed back to the house. I wasn't scared at all about Lucius' plans for me. Because I knew that they weren't even true. Malfoy was just lying, like he always did.

I did figure out about the house that we lived in. It belonged to Narcissa, who lived there when she was a young girl. I didn't know why I just said that. Just a random thought that popped in my head.

"Anyone around?"

"No, darling."

"Alright, then. Let's go."

We got into their flying car and I slid in the backseat with Malfoy. He gave me a wide smirk and I just rolled my eyes at him and looked out the window.

I was ready to go to the Burrow, the place that I needed to be at right now.
