Part 22
Mark started from the beginning of the baby name book. He figured it would be easier to just go through them all. Jack finished with his bowl of soup, setting it by Mark as he asked sweetly. "Is there more of that"? Mark looked up from the book with a smirk. Moving the family album off his lap to the computer chair, he grabbed the bowl and headed out to the kitchen. He paused from scanning through more baby names to refill the bowl as his mom strolled in to refill hers. She glanced at the book in his hand with a bright smile, saying casually. "I haven't seen that book in a long time. You should find some good names in there". Mark chuckled to himself, mumbling out. "I don't know what I'm doing... I'm just... looking". His mom stepped closer to the pot, taking the spoon from him as she told him confidently. "That's not a bad way to start. However, you have to keep a few things in mind".
Mark leaned his hip against the counter, shrugging when he asked. "Like what"? His mom finished refilling her bowl, then told him lightly. "Well... You want to be sure that you and your family can say the name for starters. You don't want family to constantly misspell or mispronounce the kids name. You want to pick a name that the kid doesn't get made fun of for. You have to be sure that their initials don't spell out something bad. It can also help to discover what that name means. Stuff like that". Mark sighed heavily, muttering out. "Is that all? That doesn't seem to leave me with a lot of options". His mom patted his arm, giggling out. "It's not as bad as you think. Just pick out the ones that appeal to you the most and then narrow them down from there". His mom pointed to a table in the living room, informing him happily. "Use the notebook and pencil over there. You're going to need them. Trust me. It's work all by itself".
Mark walked over to pick up the notebook. Then set it back down with the baby book as his phone started ringing. His mom lifted up Jack's bowl, informing him quickly. "I'll take this too him". Mark gave her a swift nod, before pressing the answer button and putting it to his ear. Chica brushed against his leg, hinting that she wanted to go out. So, he moved to the back door as Rosemary asked him through the phone. "Mark? Is everything alright? I haven't heard from you in awhile"? Mark stepped outside with Chica, answering excitedly. "Ya, sorry about that. I've been meaning to call you. I've just been busy". Rosemary's voice was filled with comfort as she said. "I understand. How is Jack? What did the ultrasound show"? Mark explained everything that happened in as much detail as he could. Afterward, he finished by telling her excitedly. "Which brings me to the present... Jack - We want to keep them".
Rosemary's voice took on a serious tone as she expressed to him. "Mark, are you sure about this? I don't want to ruin the joy you're feeling... but this is not going to be a walk in the park for him. We only have a limited time to reverse this. After that... He will have no choice. You need to really think about this". Mark rested his arm on the wooden porch railing, asking in a low hesitant voice. "How long before it can't be reversed"? Rosemary faintly chatted with someone on her end, before telling him bluntly. "Three to four weeks at best. However, even that could be wrong. Mark... The potion could accelerate his pregnancy. If he reaches his Third Trimester... It's game over". Mark jerked his head up, asking very concerned now. "What?! What do you mean his pregnancy could be accelerated"?
Rosemary's voice remained calm as she told him slowly. "My potion was originally designed to heal the damaged eggs in a woman's womb and increase their fertility to guarantee a healthy pregnancy. In Jack's case, the potion clashed with his male DNA. Causing the potion to make increased changes in order to successfully carry out its original design. Which could mean that the potion has adapted to accommodate the fact the Jack's body wasn't designed to carry enough nutrients to a woman's normal full term. Understand"? Mark was silent a moment as he let that all sink in. After too long, Rosemary called out to him curiously. "Mark? Did you hear me"? Mark's voice quivered a bit, when he answered softly. "Yes. I heard you". Rosemary sighed softly on her end, adding much lighter and hopeful. "Mark? Would you consider a home birth"?
Mark shook his head, answering dryly. "We can't. If he needs a C-Section than we have no choice. He'll need a doctor. You said so yourself". Rosemary's voice was still hopeful, when she replied soothingly. "My friend is a doctor. He's delivered hundreds of babies and he's from a very old line of witches. I think it would be safer for Jack. If he goes to the hospital to have these babies... They may never release him, until they find out how it happened. With us, after the babies are born... We can try to set things right. It's not a sure thing... but it is the best that I can offer you. Please, think about it? I care about him too. This is my fault". Mark bit his bottom lip, shifting uncomfortably, but replying honestly. "I'll think about it and talk it over with Jack. Thank you, Rosemary. I know you're trying".
He hung up without another word and simply stared out across the dark backyard. With one last heavy sigh, Mark pocketed his phone and called Chica back into the house. His mother was sitting on the couch now watching TV while curled up under a blanket. She glanced at him, before asking him curiously. "Everything alright"? Mark nodded as his only response. Chica dashed across the room to jump up onto the couch with his mother, causing her to huff loudly, before snuggling up with her. Mark picked up the book and notebook, slipping quietly off to his room as he issued her a 'Goodnight'. He was starting to feel drained from the long drive. He was even too stressed to eat anything. He just wanted to relax now. In his bedroom, he stopped to grin.
Jack was laying back against the headboard with his laptop resting on his legs. Mark couldn't see or hear whatever Jack had been listening too, but it didn't matter anyway. Jack was passed out. Mark closed the bedroom door, turning out the lights as he headed for the bed. Setting down the books on his bedside table, he turned the laptop slightly and his heart skipped. Jack had been watching one of his old videos. Closing out the video, Mark leaned over the bed to carefully remove Jack's headphones. Jack didn't even stir as he pulled them free. Jack just turned over to snuggle into his pillow. Mark moved the electronics to the desk, then climbed into the bed with him as slowly as he could. He didn't want to wake him. Although, he was sure that Jack was too tired. In the dim light from the laptop on the desk, Mark brushed Jack's bangs up away from his closed eyes.
Jack looked so peaceful in his sleep. So calm. He found himself wondering if he had told Jack how much he loved him today. The thought of him never waking up made his heart ache. It was moments like this that he realized how beautiful Jack was... and how the distance between them was the scariest thing in the world. He wanted to lay beside Jack like this every night. Wanted him to feel loved and wanted. Mark stroked the back of his index finger down the thin trim of his sideburns to his jawbone. He expected Jack to move, but he didn't. So, he ran his finger through Jack's bangs and at the same time leaned in to place a tender kiss to his warm temple. Forcing himself to pull his lips away, he whispered to him in a deep loving voice. "I love you, Sean". Jack still didn't move or even open his eyes, but his sleepy voice purred back to him. "I love you too".
Mark's heart swelled in his chest, laying back across the bed as Jack sleepily snuggled up against him. Draping his arm over Mark's stomach and resting his head against the side of Mark's chest. Mark lifted his arm to lay it across Jack's back, rubbing him back into a deep sleep. While his other hand pulled the covers up higher over them. As he drifted off, he held Jack close. It was only the warm sun streaming in through his curtains, that gave him a reason to wake up though. Wincing and partially going blind, he forced himself to sit up. Glancing toward Jack's side of the bed, he smiled brightly. Jack was stirring a bit, but still mostly asleep. Shifting back onto his side, Mark placed a hand on Jack's hip to keep him still. Then pushed up Jack's shirt with his other hand. Jack's stomach had definitely filled out a bit more.
It could pass as a heavy beer gut now. Acting quickly, Mark shifted a little to kiss Jack's stomach in light but tender loving kisses. Jack's sleepy hand slid over his shoulder as he mumbled out to him. "Mark... What are you doing"? Mark pushed Jack's hip until he shifted onto his back with a groan. Mark stroked his hand across Jack's stomach, whispering to Jack a bit lustful. "Shh, Just relax". Mark tried to disguise the fact that he was pulling down Jack's pants with more kisses to his stomach. He rarely ever got up before Jack and on times that he did... He liked to... play. Jack moaned softly in his sleepy state as Mark pulled his pants free. He had just slipped between Jack's legs, when Jack jerked up onto his elbows, stating fully awake and startled. "Mark! Don't! Not here"! Mark let out a deep growl, purring out to Jack as he brushed his warm lips down Jack's inner thigh. "Shh, My mom sleeps in on the weekends".
Jack's hands rose over his head to firmly grip the headboard as he whined out. "Mark...". Mark flashed him a wicked smirk, grazing his lips lightly up Jack's hardening shaft. Jack quickly covered his mouth, muffling a loud moan that tried to escape. Mark pushed Jack's legs farther apart just in time to hear a soft knock at the door. Mark's lusty warm blood turned to ice as he froze up beneath the covers. Jack inhaled deeply, before glancing back at him and removing his hand from his mouth to snap back smugly. "Sleeps in on the weekends, does she"? To Be Continued...
