Mount Justice

The five team members walked out of the cave and towards the beach, holding towels and surf boards.

"Hello, Megan! We should hit the beach every day!" M'gann exclaimed, throwing her arms wide.

"First, a moment of silence for our absent comrade." Robin said solemnly, dipping his head down.

"Poor Wally." M'gann sighed, tipping her head as well.

Pietro rolled his eyes, running towards the sea. He dove in, turning around to splash the others standing at the edge. "Come on in, the water is beautiful!"

Everyone ran to the water, splashing about and having a blast while Wally was having a terrible day at school. They played beach volleyball, buried Superboy in the sand, cooked weenies over the fire, and had a contest to see who could hold their breath the longest under the water, not including Kaldur.

It wasn't until late that they went back to the cave and when they entered they were shocked to see Green Arrow, Batman, and a mysterious blonde teen dressed in a green outfit with a bow.

"Uh, who is this?" Superboy asked, gesturing to the girl.

"This is Artemis, my niece and newest protégé." Green Arrow placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Hey." The girl waved.

"Excuse us while we get changed." Kaldur spoke politely, gesturing to their beachwear.

The group went to their rooms and got changed into their suits, returning moments later to properly greet Artemis. They all stood around her and chatted for a bit until the zeta tubes announced Wally's arrival.

"The Wall-Man is here! Now let's get this party started!" He tripped as he came running in, falling on his face.

"Wall-Man huh? Ah, I love the uniform. What exactly are your powers?" Artemis sassed, instantly earning points in Pietro's book.

"Uh, who's this?" Wally asked, walking up to stand between Kaldur and Robin.

"Artemis. Your new teammate." Artemis stated proudly.

"Kid Flash. Never heard of you." Wally glared.

"She's my new protégé." Green Arrow told him.

"What happened to your old one?"

Recognize Speedy B06

"Well for starters he doesn't go by Speedy anymore. Call me Red Arrow."

"Roy, you look-"

"Replaceable." Roy hissed.

"Its not like that. You told me you were going solo." Green Arrow defended himself.

"This isn't awkward at all." Pietro mumbled under his breath. 

"So why waste time finding a sub? Can she even use that bow?"

"Yes, she can." Artemis got in Roy's face.

"Who are you?" Wally asked, exasperated.

"I'm his niece."

"But she is not your replacement." Kaldur assured Roy. "We have always wanted you on the team, and we have no quota on archers."

Artemis and Wally exchanged some jabs before Kaldur asked Roy why he came to them. "A reason named Doctor Serling Roquette." 

Robin pulled up her file on his hologlove, explaining who she was to the team. "...disappeared two weeks ago."

"Abducted two weeks ago. By the League of Shadows." Roy corrected Robin. He explained how the doctor had already created a weapon, the Fog, for the League of Shadows. The Fog was used for theft of data and destruction of anything in its path.

"Perfect for extortion, manipulation, power brokering...yeah, sounds like the Shadows." Artemis added.

"Like you know anything about the Shadows." Wally snarked. Artemis smirked. "Who are you?!"

"Roquette is working on a virus to render the Fog inert." Roy got the team back on track. Robin mentioned that the Shadows would target her. "I stashed her at the local high school's computer lab."

"You left her alone?" Green Arrow was shocked.

"She's safe enough for now." Roy countered.

Green Arrow offered for the two of them to keep her safe and Roy rebuffed. Batman placed a hand on Arrow's shoulder. He conceded, saying it was the team's mission now.

Roy left, updating his zeta tube designation as he went. The team went to the bioship to head to the high school.

Happy Harbor

The team was spread out throughout the high school, Miss Martian and Superboy on the roof, Aqualad outside the lab with Artemis, Quicksilver, Robin, Kid Flash inside the lab with the doctor.

Miss Martian, link us up. We don't want the Shadows intercepting our comms.

Everyone on?

Ugh, this is weird.

Doctor Roquette went on a rant about it being distracting and hard to work under these conditions.

Lady do you always complain when someone tries to help you?

Hey, I do not need attitude from the newbie who drove Red Arrow from the team!

Artemis and Kid Flash fought for a few minutes before she walked out to help Miss Martian and Superboy patrol the perimeter. Robin looked to Kid Flash.

You might want to cut her some slack. It was her arrow that saved you from Amazo.

What? No, that was Speedy's, I mean, Red Arrow's arrow. Right?

Quicksilver rolled his eyes, Kid Flash catching this and glaring at his fellow speedster. 

What's your problem, QS?

Your attitude, for one.

Oh, you have multiple problems with me? 

Quite frankly, yeah. You're a lousy team player, you have a bad attitude, and you are constantly flirting with Miss Martian even though it makes her uncomfortable!

Don't even try to deny it.

Guys, guys. Fate of the world, remember? Save the quarrel for after we stop the Fog.

Aqualad asked the doctor if she could track the location of the Fog and she said she could but she would practically be giving away their location and asking to be assassinated. Aqualad assured her they would protect her and she went online, tracking the Fog.

Outside, Superboy, Artemis, and Miss Martian were patrolling the perimeter. Artemis was checking Superboy out.

Mm, that boy.

He is dreamy.

Uh, you two do realize we can all hear you?

We know.

Oh, so it's fine for you to do it but when I do it it's an issue?

Quicksilver smirked and Kid Flash tightened his fists.

Miss Martian, Roquette has located the fog. Reconfigure the bioship so Robin and Superboy can pursue. Kid, Quicksilver, go patrol.

After Miss Martian reconfigured the bioship, the two team members ran to the bioship and boarded, flying off towards their destination. Miss Martian confronted Artemis about embarrassing Superboy, asking if she must challenge everyone. Artemis said its how she survives.

Inside, Kid Flash followed a shadow he saw, running right onto a ground full of marbles, landing onto his back. A foot stomped on his face knocking him out before kicking him into the pool. 

At the computer lab, the door opened and a shuriken flew towards the doctor. Aqualad blocked it with his arm, engaging the attacker. He alerted the others that they were under attack in the computer lab.

Artemis told Aqualad that they were on their way. Quicksilver got to the lab first, hitting the assassin as she was about to stab Aqualad. The assassin looked at Quicksilver and let out an amused chuckle as she pulled out another sai. "Well, well, well, what do we have here?" An arrow flew at the sai, taking it out of her hand. 

Artemis stood in the doorway. "Don't. Move."

"This gig is getting interesting." The assassin mused, pulling out a collapsible sword. She cut down Artemis' arrows as they went flying at her, looking over when Miss Martian and Kid Flash came running into the room. "Maybe a little too interesting." 

The assassin threw down a flash bomb as Kid Flash and Quicksilver both went to tackle her, instead tackling each other. They scrambled off the other, looking around for their attacker. "She's gone." 

Kid Flash glared at Quicksilver and Artemis. "This is all your faults!"

"Literally how." Quicksilver deadpanned. "You were the one that didn't look where you were running and tripped over marbles."

"Well, at least I- wait, how'd you know that?" Kid Flash stomped over to Quicksilver. "There was no one around but the shadow and me."

"Uh, mind link, remember?" Quicksilver rolled his eyes, covering his slip up. He couldn't believe he had been so careless. 

"Focus. The Shadows will be back." Aqualad unwittingly aided Quicksilver right before Robin came over the comms. 

"Robin to Aqualad. We're over Philadelphia. We've located the Shadow's next target. S.T.A.R. Labs. We're too late. It's destroyed. Totally destroyed. The Fog decimated it. This is bad. S.T.A.R. Labs is cutting edge science and now their secrets are in the hands of the enemy. What's our next move?"

Aqualad looked at the Doctor. "Rescan for that Fog. Find it. We're moving the Doctor." 

The majority of the team devised a plan, separating and moving the real Doctor to a computer café while Miss Martian disguised herself as Roquette and hid in the dock house with Artemis, Kid Flash, and Quicksilver. Kid Flash was glaring at the other two and they were glaring back at him.

Stop it, all three of you.

What?

I can hear you glaring at each other. 

Quicksilver crossed his arms over his chest, about to retort when he felt his sister's presence. 

Sestra? They have you working Shadow missions?

When Cheshire said someone who could be my twin was involved in running interference and that she needed back up, who was I to say no?

Alright.

That's the Martian with you, is it not?

Yes.

Where is the real Roquette? I'll let Cheshire and her Shadows handle your 'team'. 

...she is down the street at the computer café. Aqualad is with her. 

T-

Are you going to kill her, Wands?

Hopefully she will have finished creating her virus before I get to her.

And if  she hasn't finished it?

I...I have to go.

Wanda-

I'm sorry, Pietro.

Scarlet Witch cut off the mental link, leaving Quicksilver with just the link between him and his team. He looked up when the Shadows crashed into the room, jumping into the fight. He tried to ward off Cheshire but she got to Miss Martian, who gave away her disguise. 

"We've been duped." Cheshire cried out. 

"You'll never find Roquette." Miss Martian declared. 

"Never is such a long time. Besides, who said we poured all our resources into this location?" Cheshire hummed. "Pursuing target, keep them busy."

"Pursuing their leader, keep them busy." Artemis yelled, chasing after Cheshire. 

"You are so not the boss of me." Kid Flash called.

"Just do it!"

"I'm going to give Artemis back up!" Quicksilver called, chasing after the archer. He ran to the computer café, noticing Artemis knocked out on the roof. He saw his sister inside, a hex in her hand as she cornered the Doctor, Aqualad knocked out on the floor a few feet away. Quicksilver ran in, rushing to the computer. He looked at the screen, noticing that the virus just needed to be uploaded, so that's what he did, turning to see his sister looking at him. "It's over, Scarlet Witch. The Fog is inert now."

"Eliminating the reason for her elimination. But not the entertainment value." Quicksilver turned to see Cheshire's fist coming at his face. He ducked under it. 

"Leave my brother alone, Cheshire." Scarlet Witch growled, her eyes turning red as she aimed a hex at Cheshire. 

"Ah, so there is familial ties here. Interesting. Question, who is playing who?" She asked, tapping her chin. The twins exchanged a glance. "Oh, come on, you can tell me. Secret for a secret?"

"Quicksilver is undercover for our benefactors." Scarlet Witch jut her chin out. 

"Artemis is my baby sister." Cheshire looked towards the door. "Speaking of, she is probably waking up now. You don't tell my sister's secret, I don't tell your brother's?"

"Deal." 

"Good, now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go handle my sister. I believe our time together has ended. For now." Cheshire exited the shop, leaving the twins alone with the Doctor and the knocked out Aqualad. 

"Uh, Wands? What are we going to do about her?" Quicksilver gestured to the Doctor.

"Oh, right. She over heard everything, didn't she?" Scarlet Witch went up to the Doc and put her hands next to her head, red mist entering the woman's skull. Her eyes flashed red before rolling back in her skull. She fell to the floor. 

"Did you-"

"No. She is alive, just in a catatonic state. She will not remember anything of the last twenty-four hours." Scarlet Witch turned to her twin. "Your 'friends' will be here any minute, there is no time for a report. They are expecting one next time we meet. Until next time, brat najdrahší?"

"Until next time, sestra." Quicksilver kissed her forehead, backing up. "Uh, do you mind knocking me out? We need to make this believable, after all."

"Of course." Scarlet Witch sent a small hex at her twin's head and everything went black. 

When Quicksilver woke up, he noticed Artemis, Miss Martian, and Kid Flash all in the room, checking on the various unconscious people. He accepted Artemis' hand, looking at Roquette as Miss Martian tried to wake her. "Is she okay?"

"She's alive." Kid Flash answered. "What happened here?"

"Scarlet Witch." Aqualad replied. "She overpowered me."

"Me as well. I came in here and barely had a chance to upload the virus before she knocked me out. But why didn't she kill the Doctor? What did she do to the Doctor?" Quicksilver asked.

"Of course she overpowered you. And maybe she has some moral compass or something?" Wally replied sarcastically. "Again, notice how you two let the assassins get away?" He gestured to Quicksilver and Artemis.

"Scarlet Witch is not an assassin." Quicksilver tried his best not to growl out, to keep his voice even. "We don't know what she is."

"A pain in the butt, for sure." 

"Nevertheless, the Doctor is alive and the Fog has been neutralized, in no small part to both of you. Artemis, welcome to the team." Aqualad smiled at her.  Artemis smiled back. 

Unknown Location

Wanda sat on her bed, legs crossed beneath her and her hands folded in her lap, eyes closed as she meditated. Inhaling deeply, she opened her eyes to reveal pure red. "I am ready. Show me the way."
