Sokovia

Wanda stood at the edge of Novi Grad, staring at the bare bones of the city she once called home, taking in the destruction of the never ending civil war. Walking through the deserted streets by herself while she played with a small ball of her hex powers, Wanda couldn't help but let her mind ponder over the information she learned just a few days prior.
After the ordeal with helping Klarion split the world in two, subsequently being defeated by her brother and his team, and teleporting herself back to her room in the base in Mongolia, Wanda was taken before the members of the Light to discuss her actions during the fight against the team.

Wanda stood before the seven members of the Light, her head bowed slightly and her eyes plastered on the floor.
"Look at us, Witch." Wanda raised her head at Lex's words, staring at the Light. "Do we look pleased?"
Wanda furrowed her brow in confusion. "I-"
"That was rhetorical, child. Your actions, though reckless, are inconsequential to our plans. You did not do anything to endanger our true motivations" Wanda nodded slowly, still confused to as to what was going on. "However, since you did act against Klarion's wishes and therefore, in turn, ours, you must face punishment. It is only fitting that Klarion decides what your punishment will be. Klarion, if you will."
Klarion stepped forward with a sinister grin on his face. "Let me tell you a story, hm? It takes place in a small Eastern European country - you're probably familiar with it - called Sokovia. You see, Sokovia was never a stable place to begin with, what with being a poor nation over run by outside forces looking to take it over and merge it with their own country. However, once you add in the little known detail that Sokovia is a hotspot for meta human births and Sokovia itself is known for its...distaste...of metas, well, now you're cooking. Anyways, my pals and I found out about the meta humans that Sokovia was unwittingly producing and decided to do something about it. A country at peace would notice if their children were going missing, but a country at war, with relentless fighting and constant battling in the streets...well, disappearances would be written off as casualties of the war."
Wanda stared wide eyed at the members of the Light, piecing together what Klarion was trying to convey. "You...you all started the civil war in Sokovia?"
"Precisely."
Melting to the floor, Wanda felt her world collapse around her as her mind and heart became hurricanes of turmoil and emotions. Her parents constant fighting and quarrels were always about the war in Sokovia, and here the Light was, telling her they were behind it all. Something clicked in her mind and she whipped her head up to glare at the members of the Light. "Did you cause the war in my country to get my brother and I to work for you?"
They all let out laughs. "Don't be ridiculous, child. Not everything is about you. Misplaced meta children are valuable, the fact that you and your brother decided to come on board with us for protection from the country that is after your death is just an added bonus."
Wanda hung her head once more. "You...you caused the war that caused my parents to fight...that caused me to try an intervene...that led to their...their deaths." She was trembling, clenching her fists in her lap. "You caused me to kill my own parents and your telling me it was just an added bonus?" Wanda lifted her head, her eyes glowing scarlet as she glared at the seven. "You are behind separating my brother and I, you are behind everything!"
The Light didn't even flinch when they saw the rage on Wanda's face. "Wanda, if your brother truly wanted to be by your side and you his, you two would've ousted his position by now. Don't you see it? He likes playing hero and you the so called villain. Pietro has friends now, a home, a family. You were holding him back."
The fight left Wanda. "No -"
"Yes, you were. Don't you see how much happier he is now that he is away from you? Pietro no longer has to worry about looking over his shoulder for the crime you committed. He is free. He is thriving."
"No...no, you're wrong. Pietro loves me -"
"You can love someone and still be held back by them, chained and bogged down by their lack of...Je ne sais pas."
Wanda brought her knees up to her chest, wrapping her arms around her legs. "No...no...'tro..."
Queen Bee sighed, looking to the side. "She needs to rest. Psimon, if you will."
Wanda curled up even tighter as she was forced to sleep, the world turning dark for her.

Wanda found herself standing outside her and Pietro's old apartment building, staring up at the decaying building. "Sokovia...you were never perfect, but you were home. If only I could've explained what happened with mama and otec, if only this country wasn't so hateful towards the metas it birthed, if only Batman had listened." She sighed, releasing the hex in her hand at the building. The building shook upon impact, bricks exploding out of place and the few panels of glass that still existed shattered. "If only, if only, if only! Argh!"
Sensing a presence behind her Wanda turned around, her hands and eyes lit up scarlet with her hex powers. "Thought I might find you here, Wanda." She narrowed her eyes at the ebony haired Boy Wonder, lowering her hands slightly. Robin took a step towards her, hands raised in a nonthreatening manner. "Look, I didn't come here to fight you."
"I find that very hard to believe." Wanda scoffed. "Everyone always wants to fight me."
"Not this time." Robin gave her a small smile. "I just came to talk with you."
Wanda paused, looking Robin over. "How'd you know my name? How'd you know I would be here, in Sokovia?"
Robin smirked. "I am a detective after all. You said so yourself." Wanda smirked back at the teen. "Anyways, I came to find things out from your perspective."
"My...perspective?"
"Yes. Why work for the Injustice League and their allies? What do they have on you?" Robin asked, stepping closer to the girl. Wanda bit her lip, looking over at the apartment building. Robin caught this glance. "Wait a second, this looks like the building that Quicksilver grew up in..."
Wanda's eyes widened, her heart thudding in her chest. They can't find out about Pietro, not yet. It was too soon. "Quicksilver, he is also from Sokovia?"
Robin nodded, a hand going to his chin as he thought aloud. "Quicksilver is from Sokovia as well...he has a sister named Wanda, who he didn't tell us about until we discovered him talking about her and she is supposedly dead...he is an orphan meta human..." Robin looked up at Wanda. "Your name is Wanda, you are an orphan meta human from Sokovia who supposedly does not have any family...both you and Quicksilver appeared out of the blue at around the same time..." Robin froze, gazing intensely at the girl. "You are Quicksilver's sister."
Wanda scoffed. "That's ridiculous. Just because Pietro and I are both from Sokovia does not make us twins."
Robin smirked, crossing his arms in triumph. "I never said his name was Pietro and I never mentioned anything about being twins." It was Wanda's turn to freeze, her mind going into over drive as she tried to think up ways to fix her mistake. She looked the Boy Wonder over, eyes flickering scarlet. Robin let out a chuckle. "I know you are a telepath, Wanda, that's why I had psi-dampeners installed in my mask. Nice try, though."
Wanda gulped, her hands shaking slightly. The Light would not like this development, not at all. "Will you...will you tell your friends about me and Pietro?"
Robin's smirk disappeared as he took in the other teen's shaken and frightened appearance. "I...Cheshire told us back in Taipei there was a mole on the team. It's Pietro, isn't it? And you are his contact, aren't you?" Wanda stayed silent, confirming his answer with a slight nod. "Okay, well, answer my previous questions. Why work for the Injustice League and their allies? You are clearly more powerful than them."
Wanda clenched her fists, looking away from the Boy Wonder. "I...I...it is complicated. There is a lot more at play here than you know."
"So fill me in and we'll see if I need to alert my friends of your relation to Pietro, yeah?" Robin put a hand on her shoulder, causing the brunette to look up. She nodded. "Okay, good. How did you get involved with the Injustice League?"
"Batman rejected Pietro and I years ago." Wanda mumbled. "He was going to turn us back over to Sokovia, to be prosecuted for...it doesn't matter. Batman refused to help us. The L- Injustice League offered to protect us and make sure we didn't get split up...we were eleven. Young. Impressionable. We didn't know what we were agreeing to. But now...now it is too late to back out."
"It is never too late." Robin smiled at Wanda. "They planted Pietro in Cadmus, in hopes of us discovering him?"
"Actually, they placed him there to develop a backstory for him. They started the fire a few months ago to draw the attention of the Justice League. It just worked out better that it was you, Kid Flash, and Aqualad that came. It would be easier to infiltrate a team our age than a team of adults." Wanda shrugged.
"What has he told you?" Robin asked.
Wanda shifted her weight between her feet. "He told me the location of your little base. He has told me the personalities of your team members, security codes...that's basically it."
Robin looked at her closely. "And has he ever aided you in your missions?"
"No. He has only - I assume - just withheld information that I gave him about my missions. Other than that, he has helped your team." Wanda stared back at Robin. "Pietro...Pietro is good. He never wanted to work with the Injustice League, he wanted to go back on the run. But I knew...I knew he was tired of running and so was I. I pressured him into agreeing to their terms. He never wanted any of this. Please. He is a good person. Don't be too hard on him."
Robin sighed, rubbing the back of his neck ."You've put me in a really tough position here, Wanda. I don't like keeping secrets from my friends."
"But you are fine with hiding your true self from them." Wanda raised a brow. "Please, Wonder Boy, if our captors find out he has been exposed they will kill him."
Robin nodded. "Okay. I'll keep your secret."
"T-"
"Only if you keep the information Pietro tells you to yourself. Don't tell your captors anything. If they press, falsify the information. Got it?" Robin stuck his hand out for her to shake.
Wanda shook his hand. "Deal. Thank you, Robin. You are a good person."
"I try." Robin chuckled for a minute before getting serious. "Wanda, we can help you, you know, escape from your captors. We will protect you. From them and whatever else you originally needed protection from."
Wanda gave him a small, sad smile. "If only that were true, Robin."
"It is."
"You say that now, but if you knew what the catalyst was for our predicament, you would not be so...understanding." Wanda shook her head, backing up. "I've got to go. I'll see you around. Thank you for not outing my brother."
"Will I see you again soon?" Robin asked, walking a step after the brunette girl.
"I'm not even gone and already you are thinking of our next encounter." Wanda winked over her shoulder, her playfulness returning. "I'll see you in your country soon. That is all I can tell you."
"How soon?" Robin pressed.
Wanda thought about it before responding. "Within the week. Later, cutie."
She snapped her fingers and disappeared in a haze of red, leaving the slightly blushing Robin behind.
