Oooh. Last chapter ended on a pseudo cliff hanger. Y'all ready to find out more?

Also, this chapter is super duper short compared to 95% of my updates for this story. I felt like I fit everything I wanted/needed to into it and it wouldn't have benefitted from being longer.

Mount Justice

October 23, 17:21 EDT

The team was sitting in the lounge and kitchen area, not talking. M'gann was stirring a bowl of batter as Kaldur leaned against the counter. Wally had his head in his arms on the kitchen island, Pietro and Robin sat on the couches with Artemis leaning against the back of one of them.  Conner was talking with Black Canary for their mandated therapy sessions after the training exercise that went wrong.

Black Canary stepped into the room. "Pietro, I'd like to talk with you now."

Pietro nodded, standing up to follow. He passed by the rest of the team, all of them muttering a 'good luck' to him under their breaths. Pietro sighed, closing the door behind him and taking a seat when Canary prompted him. He looked up at her, resting his elbows on his knees. "So, what're we here to talk about?"

"You just went through a traumatic experience, Pietro. You watched your teammate essentially die before you yourself were killed. One should take time to process that." Black Canary replied gently, looking at the silver haired speedster. Pietro tightened his fists, glaring at the ground as he didn't answer. Black Canary sighed. "How about we start with -"

"Start with what? I was in a coma for most of the action, missed out on most of the deaths. Barely any trauma here." Pietro grunted.

"I get it, you're too tough for help. Or too tough to admit you need help. It is not a sign of weakness to open up to your friends."

Pietro leaned back, crossing his arms over his chest. "I know that."

"Yet you still keep secrets from them."

Pietro looked up at the blonde. "Kept secrets."

"Oh?"

"Everything is out in the open now." Pietro looked at the therapist.

"Everything?"

He nodded, his mind going back a week to the night of the training exercise.

- - -

"Pietro...how come you never told us you have a sister?"

The speedster paused in his steps, looking at the team. "What...what are you talking about?"

Robin typed on his gauntlet computer for a moment before turning it to face Pietro, the video feed of just an hour or so before pulled up. The team laid on the tables, all waking up from the exercise. Red Tornado stood above Pietro, trying to rouse the boy.

<"It was an accident. No, no! Stay away from her! Don't touch her! I'll kill you! Sister!">

"See, we normally would not be able to understand this. But given the computers ability to translate all known languages..." Robin rewound the tape, playing it back again. Miraculously, Pietro sounded as if he were speaking English.

And the whole team heard him cry out for a sister.

Pietro looked at his friends as they stared back at him, confusion and hurt on their faces. "Why did you not tell us?"

"Because...because...thinking of her brings back horrible memories." Pietro lied, tightening his fists at his side. "She was...after we were stranded on the streets in Sokovia,  we needed to fend for ourselves. I...I tried to protect her as best I could but..."

"Pietro, what happened?" Kaldur asked.

He looked up from the floor at the rest of the team. "You have the rest of the video feed, I assume you already translated it, figure it out."

"She's passed, hasn't she?"

"Murdered, actually. The streets of Sokovia are not forgiving and my home country does not take too kindly to meta humans. So when they found out I, a known meta, had a sister...well, it didn't end well."

"Was your sister a meta also?" Wally asked.

Pietro gave a sad smile. "I'll never know."

Everyone fell into silence, a thick an oppressive one. It was moments before anyone broke it to address Pietro. "We're sorry we brought up horrible memories for you."

Pietro felt sick as he just nodded. Robin looked at him. "Wanda...Wanda wasn't your cat, was she?"

Pietro shook his head. "No. I never had a cat."

- - -

"I'm glad everything is out in the open. Secrets tend to weigh on the soul." Black Canary smiled at Pietro, who forced himself to maintain eye contact. "Well, I suppose if you don't have anything else you'd like to talk about, I'll let you go."

Pietro shrugged, standing up. "Thanks, Canary."

"Send Artemis my way, please." She called after the teen.

Pietro walked through the halls of the mountain to the lounge, finding his friends in the same positions. "Artemis, she wants to talk with you." The archer nodded, standing up and heading in the direction of the room they were using for therapy. The speedster sat back down on the couch, looking at the television that was partially in set up mode. He narrowed his eyes at the ground, hating the conflicting feelings that were present within him.

He wanted to be a true part of the team, he wanted them to trust him, he wanted their friendship.

But he couldn't have any of that as long as he needed to be by his sister's side, needed to protect her, needed to trust her.

Pietro wanted to be a good person, to be a hero along with his friends but he needed to be a villain for his sister.

Perhaps...perhaps there was a way to be both. To placate both sides.

Grunting, he stood up off the couch and stalked out of the room, ignoring the looks his teammates sent his way.  Walking into the main cavern of the mountain to find Martian Manhunter, Captain Marvel, Red Tornado,  and Batman watching security footage of the team in the lounge,  Pietro made up his mind.

He could do this.

For Wanda.

Strolling up to the Leaguers the speedster gained their attention by clearing his throat.  They turned to him. "Yes, Pietro? What is it?"

Before he could lose his nerve, Pietro looked to Batman. "Can we talk? In private. With Manhunter."

Batman nodded, leading the teen and Martian Manhunter out of the main cavern and to a side room. "Computer, secure the room." Once the room was secured, he turned to Pietro. "What is it you wish to discuss?"

Pietro took in a shuddering breath. "Well, here goes nothing..." He looked up at the two formidable Leaguers. "I'm the mole."

Batman and Martian Manhunter looked to one another before turning back to the teen. "Explain everything. Start from the beginning. Aand leave nothing out."

"I think it'd be easier if I showed you. Manhunter, can you create a link between the three of us?" Pietro requested.

Link established.

Okay, so, it all started when we were nine...

As Pietro explained his story he pulled up the memories to go along with it, watching as Batman's face turned to slight shock when he saw himself in the memories.

You two had met me?

Yes, but Wanda had erased your memory of the encounter.

Once they were up to date on Pietro's story, he hung his head in shame. "I'm sorry. I couldn't do it anymore. I couldn't be the double agent the Light wants me to be."

Batman looked to Manhunter, who nodded at him, before turning back to the boy. "How would you like to play triple agent?"

Pietro's eyes widened. "You mean...you mean you're not kicking me off the team? You're giving me another shot?"

"You are an asset, Pietro. You have given us the upper hand on the enemy, and I intend to exploit that." Batman smirked slightly. "Now, I am not going to tell the team and neither are you."

"What? Wh-"

"It would not benefit anyone to have this knowledge as of now."

Pietro nodded. "What do you want me to do?"

"Keep giving the Light information, falsify as much as you can but still make it believable. Find out any intel you can from your sister and report it to me."

"What about Wanda?" Pietro asked, crossing his arms over his torso. "How are we going to get her out of their clutches?"

Batman paused, mulling it over. "I will figure it out. For now, carry on as you were before."

"Got it." Pietro turned to head towards the door, stopping at Batman's voice.

"You did the right thing, telling us. We will help your sister, Pietro."

He exited the room, making his way to his chambers as exhaustion suddenly hit him. Closing the door behind him, Pietro dragged himself over to his bed and curled up under the covers, letting his eyelids slowly close, his final thoughts before he slipped into slumber being of relief that he finally told someone the truth and of confidence that he did the right thing by coming clean to Batman and Martian Manhunter.

I will reunite us, sestra, without compromising our morals. I have found a way. We will be together soon, on the side of the true angels. Trust me.
