"And when they brought him back to life and he started attacking them. That was my favorite scene!" said Eun Byul, coming to an abrupt stop before explaining more scenes of the movie with hand gestures.
"Mine was..." Eun Bi trailed off, thinking about any scene which Eun Byul left for her to choose as a favorite, but Eun Byul had already called dibs on every decent scene as her favorite one.
"Eun Bi. Did youy forgot the movie we watched yesterday? I told you you're becoming an old grandma sooner than expected. I think I have to go get contacts, extra teeth and a cane fo-"
"UNNIE!!" Eun Bi shouted in annoyance and anger.
Eun Byul chuckled before patting the younger's back, "Just kidding. You got a whole life to spe-"
"Lee Eun Byul!" a voice from behind came, cutting off Eun Byul.
{ Eun Bi's P.O.V }
Turning around, my eyes widened in shock as I saw Jungkook and Taehyung walking towards us. As they stopped before us, I could tell by the look on Taehyung's face that he was as confused as me.
Jungkook flashed a smile at Unnie, "Good morning," he greeted her, looking brighter than ever.
My, and Taehyung's face scrunched in confusion, as we both looked at Jungkook's face, to confirm if it is Jungkook and not a doppelganger.
The next thing which made my jaw hung to the ground was the least expected thing in the world.
"Morning, Jungkook," Unnie greeted him back, with a smile.
Unnie greeted Jungkook! With a smile?!
If I had to choose between expecting a zombie apocalypse to break out today or Unnie greeting Jungkook back with a smile, I will definitely choose the zombie apocalypse.
Turning my face to Taehyung, who also turned his face to me, we both furrowed our eyebrows as he shrugged his shoulders in confusion.
"On foot today?" Unnie asked Jungkook, not even bothering to look at her confused ex-best friend nor her confused like a baby-zebra sister.
"Thought a little change would be of help," Jungkook answered like he and Unnie had been friends for decades.
Unnie nodded before clasping her hands together, "You know what?! I watched this super cool movie yesterday, in which the the hero died, and then his enemies bought him back to life..." Unnie started ranting about the movie to Jungkook, as they both walked past a star-strucked me and Taehyung, not even sparing a glance at us as though we're invisible.
Silence, mild cold morning breeze and a Mount Everest of confusion, these terms were perfect to define the situation that I and Taehyung were standing in, looking at the back of the two walking in front of us.
A shiver ran down my spine as I couldn't hold back my curiosity anymore. Jerking my head towards Taehyung who surprisingly did the same, we both shouted the same question at each other.
"WHAT THE HECK JUST HAPPENED?!"
I put a hand over my mouth in shock as Taehyung's confused face turned into an amused one, "JINX!" he said, eyes popping out like a kid who goes first time to school and found it not be the place of his dreams but nightmares.
I chuckled at his expression, "Yeah," I said before turning around and continuing my walk, "Did Jungkook got a head injury?"
Taehyung shrugged his shoulders, a grin on his face as he turned his face to me while walking beside me, "No, he didn't. How about Eun Byul?"
I shook my head, "Nope, she neither."
"Of course they won't get head injuries, Eun Bi. At least try to be a bit logical," said Taehyung in a mocking manner.
"Logical?" I looked at him in a challenging manner, "I'm the most logical person ever and have already found the reason behind their not so familiar acts," I said, looking at him with an I-was-born-genius look.
His plastered-on-his-face grin turned into a boxy smile, "I thought you'll be like the young goodie goodie sister of the bad old sister. But my instinctions were totally wrong."
My eyebrows creased in confusion, "What is that supposed to mean?"
He chuckled, "Nothing. You just sound cute and innocent." his last sentence was barely above a whisper but on the street without any passing by car or any possible noise, I was able to hear it.
I didn't know how to feel about his statement, but it really flattered me, after thinking of our not-so-planned meet up yesterday.
[ Flashback ]
Walking through the vacant street covered by trees on both sides, the cold breeze hit my face.
After walking for 5 minutes which felt like 5 centuries, Taehyung finally broke the ice between us, "Thanks for coming out."
I simply nodded at his statement.
"I mean, you could have refused my request bu-"
"It's fine." I cut him off, wanting to know why he called me out so I can leave this awkward situation as soon as possible.
"Yeah.." he sighed.
As we were walking, Taehyung fastened his steps and went inside a convenience store, leaving me there plain dumbfounded.
After about a minute, he came back licking a blueberry popsicle.
"What th-" I was cut off as he held out a popsicle towards me.
"I bought you a popsicle," he said, his lips forming a weird boxy smile.
"Thanks..." I trailed off, taking the popsicle from his hand.
"I mean I..." he trailed off, awkwardly rubbing the back of his head, "I wanted to... um-apologize."
Unwrapping the popsicle before devouring it's sweet and cold taste, I looked up at Taehyung, "Not my favourite, but this flavour is also good. No need to apologi-"
"No no," he cut me off, "Not the popsicle flavour," he slapped his forehead, "I wanted to sincerely apologize to you, Eun Bi. For my behaviour towards you from the start. I'm really honestly sorry about that. I always believed my brother and never even once listened to you," he explained, looking at me with guilty eyes.
At his words, all the past actions if his which has hurt me flashed through my mind. And the fact I had to admit was that the basis of his wrongdoings was the trust he had for his little brother.
Just like in the moment of crisis Unnie choose to trust me ratger than her best friend's brother, he did the same thing.
Love and trust... Such beautiful things yet harmful ones.
Smiling, I said,"It's okay."
With wide eyes and a bright smile, his face lit up like a light bulb, "Really?!"
I nodded, with a smile.
[ End of Flashback ]
Reaching the school gateway, I bid goodbye to Taehyung before walking up to Unnie who was waving at Jungkook.
"What happened, Unnie?" I asked, "Why were you and Jungkook befriending each other?"
Turning to me, "Just fulfilling my promise of not fighting with the boys," she winked at me before hopping up the stairs to the school entrance, "Come on, Eun Bi! We're gonna be late to class!" she shouted, her hands around her mouth like she was calling me from the top of a mountain.
I chuckled, "Coming."
[ Recess ]
"For the first 10 minutes, I was wide awake but then I don't know how I fell slept after 5 minutes and didn't took notes," Unnie said, sighing as she stuffed a big piece of bread in her mouth.
I chuckled, "Don't worry, Unnie. I'll lend you mine." I said, taking a small bite of my bread.
She smiled at me, "Of course, you will," she said, before shoving a piece of bread in my mouth.
"U-unn-nie-" I tried to say with my mouthful but the piece of bread was big like a bear's paw.
"Where's Mina, Cheong, Suzy and Jisoo-aka my official squad?" she asked, making holes in her half eaten bread with her fork.
Gulping down the lump of bread, I looked around the canteen for the girls but instead my eyes landed on the very people I wished would stay away from us.
Here comes the nusisances.
Jungkook and Jimin stood beside our table and flashed a smile of their white-like-toothpaste-commercials teeth at Unnie, while I sat there pretending like I don't exist.
"Hi, Eun Byul!" Jimin greeted Unnie before turning to me, "Hey, Eun Bi."
"Hey guys!" Unnie greeted them back.
"Wanna join us?" he asked... only Unnie, apparently.
No, definitely, Eun Bi.
Accept the fact that you've become invisible or maybe that nerd no one notices.
"Yeah, sure," Unnie said, standing up and collecting her food tray before turning to face me, "See you in class!" and with that, she left.
Between the crowd of talking, eating and laughing students, I felt like a lonely panda.
Did Unnie just dumped me for those two clowns?
Anger started boiling up inside me, making the spoon in my hand bend a bit with force. I forcefully dug the poor spoon in my rice bowl and shoved a spoonful in my mouth, leaving some rice sticking around my mouth.
The cycle of me shoving every edible thing in my mouth like a hungry wolf continued until I stopped sucking from my empty mini carton of milk upon hearing a chuckle behind me.
Turning my head at the person chuckling with the most annoyed expression I could possibly make, my facial features loosened a bit at the sight of the laughing boy.
Between his historical laugh, Taehyung pointed at my face, "You look damn funny," he said before bursting out in a new pool of laughter.
A blush of embarrassment made it's way up to my face. I quickly took out my napkin and cleaned the area around my mouth but even so, he didn't stopped laughing until I threw my half eaten bread at his face.
Quickly stopping his laughing session, he took a seat opposite to me on the table before looking around, "You alone? Where's your tsundere sister?"
The thought of Unnie dumping me came in my mind, making me grit my teeth as I answered him, "Absolutely not. How rude of you you assume that these fairytale friends of mine are invisible to you. By the way, Unnie went off to marry the prince of Neverland, you got a problem with that?"
He clasped his hands, "Oh my God! You're an amazing jokester!! Had it not been your annoyed face which uttered those words, I would've been a laughing mess."
"Yeah, thanks for the compliment."
"Speaking of jokes," he said, turning his head around, "That man is the kind of dad jokes. Come on, youre gonna love'em, my secondary squad-the old hags," he said excitedly, pointing at a table on which was seated a lazy looking senior and a rather cheerful senior who was hopelessly trying to make the other one laugh, "So, what do you say? Wanna join'em with me?"
Without a second thought, I stood up, "Sure!"
To be continued...
