You were on the rooftop again, your phone in your hand as you debated calling the police department.
Your hands were shaking, but you clicked the call button anyway. You held it up to your ear and waited for them to pick up.
"Seoul Police Station. How may I help you today?"
"I want to report a stalker who's been assaulting someone." You said quietly. "He's also violating a restraining order. He also set a circus tent on fire and killed an animal."
"Is this Chase?" She asked.
You bit your lip. If she knew who you were, there would be reports and news articles - you weren't looking for that type of attention.
"No ma'am, I would like to stay an anonymous witness."
She hummed. "Do you have a name for this person?"
"Do Jaesang."
"Okay." Her friendly voice sounded a couple seconds later. "Thank you for letting us know. We'll have officers get on it right away."
"Thank you."
You hung up and let your arms fall to your sides. Why did you feel bad? You felt sick. Possibly the overwhelming sense of relief, but also knowing that if Jaesang found out you called the cops on him, he'd do something drastic.
Your shoulder ached and you pulled pain killers out of your bag, swallowing two.
"Popping pills, I see."
You turned to Emiko. "Pain killers. My shoulder hurts."
"Jacob told me it would be hurting." She pulled an ice pack out from behind her back. "Use this."
She placed it on your shoulder, and you held it in place. "Thanks, Emiko."
She sat next to you and pulled her knees to her chest, the same way you were sitting. You looked at her, and she seemed happier than she had in a while.
"I know I've done and said a lot of things that I can't take back, but I truly am sorry, Minji." She looked at you and nodded to herself. "Maybe seeing you vulnerable during that fire was a catalyst to this, but it's because it reminded me that you were a human who had struggles of their own. I should have been more considerate to you and your situation, and I wasn't. For that, I would like to apologize to you and try to make things better."
You smiled, a smile that you had never used towards her before. "Thank you for that. I would like to put everything aside and quit fighting with each other."
She stuck her hand out, as a sort of treaty, so you took it and gently shook it. She got up and helped you up as well, then you walked down the stairwell together.
"That felt really nice." She whispered. "Being good like this is a nice feeling."
"Right?"
She chuckled as the first bell rang. "See you later, Minji."
You walked by the boys as you headed toward the exit of the school, throwing your keys to Sunwoo.
"Take my girl home for me, yeah?"
Sunwoo smiled. "Sure thing."
You grabbed Jacob's hand and started running towards his car, and his fluffy hair made you laugh as it bounced with his movement. He opened your door for you and bent down to be eye level with you.
"Are we finally going on that date?"
You poked his cheek. "You bet."
He smiled and ran back to his side, hopping in and taking off. You told him about a certain cafe you wanted to go to, and he went there without hesitation.
Once at the cafe, you grabbed a booth and sat across from one another.
"How'd you find this place?"
"I found this little cafe on my way to the apartment when I first got here. I was so hungry, so I stopped, and Jacob," you paused and leaned in. "They have the best freaking croissants I've ever had in my life."
He laughed at your dramatic statement. "We'll have to get some then."
"So, how was your day?"
"It was alright." He shrugged. "I didn't get to see you much, but now we're here. How was yours, Minji?"
"Me and Emiko made up. Thanks for telling her about my shoulder."
He smiled sheepishly. "Yeah, I didn't know if that was a good thing, but I'm glad it worked out fine."
"And, I called the police station."
"You told them about Jaesang?"
You nodded. "I asked to stay anonymous. Police are looking into it as we speak."
Jacob grabbed your hand. "I'm proud of you."
The waiter came by and took your orders, and you definitely ordered your beloved croissants. When he left, Jacob looked at you and did that cute thing with his lips when he was curious about something.
"Where do you go in the mornings?"
"Rooftop." You told him. "It's quiet up there."
He nodded cutely and you put your hands under your jaw. "Jacob, I have a question."
"Shoot."
"Can we do a basketball rematch?"
His eyes lit up. "Only if you're ready to get beat again."
You let out a breathy laugh. "You're really funny, Bae, because I've been working on my game."
"Yeah?" He leaned in and smiled innocently. "I practice everyday."
Your confidence started to falter, but you put that same innocent smile on your face. "So do I."
You stepped onto the basketball court and Jacob passed you the ball. You both stood in the middle and checked it, then you were off.
Jacob had noticed a definite improvement in your game, and he almost wanted to let you have it, but he was feeling playful and wanted to tease you.
"Wow, Minji." Jacob ran in front of you. "You have gotten better."
"I know right! It's like-"
You cut yourself off as he grabbed the ball from you and took it to the hoop. You pouted in your spot, so he came back and hugged you.
"You would've been mad if I let you win, right?"
"Yeah." You mumbled.
He pulled back to look at you. "Then I did the right thing."
You narrowed your eyes at him. "You try taming a tiger, and then we'll talk, Jacob Bae."
He laughed as you took the ball from him again. "I would actually love to try."
You checked the ball with him, and he bounced it between your legs to confuse you, then he made a three-pointer.
He passed you the ball once more. "Okay, rude, I was very much distracted. Also, I don't really have a tiger to show you the ropes with."
Jacob thought for a moment. Trick was your first pet ever. You never had any other animals before or after her.
"Why don't we get you a puppy?"
"A puppy?" You raised an eyebrow. "Tiger to puppy is a big change."
"Yeah, but at least you'll get to keep your puppy at the apartment. You won't have to worry about anyone bothering them." Jacob replied. "You don't think you'll have a hard time training a puppy, right?"
Your gaze shifted nervously. It couldn't be that different, could it? It was just a little bit smaller, a much more 'normal' pet.
"You're scared of training a puppy!"
You threw the ball at Jacob, but of course he caught it. "Am not, pretty boy!"
