Your shoulder hurt a little bit less today, and you thought about taking the sling off for a bit, but decided against it.
Those pictures of you and Jacob were still up and still circulating. Some people didn't care and wanted to stay out of your business, and others were curious and wanted to know who Jacob was. That part broke your heart.
The two of you were minding your business and someone had to ruin it for their own selfish mindset.
In the car with Jacob, you turned his radio down and looked at him. "I'm so sorry that Emiko put you out there like that."
"It's not your fault," he reassured. "And if getting to spend time with you means ending up in a couple of photos on the internet, oh well."
"Yeah, but it shouldn't be like that. This world doesn't know how to mind their business."
He parked in his parking spot and unbuckled. He leaned into the console to be closer to you and cupped your jaw. "Thank you for sticking up for me. The world needs more good people like you."
You smiled as he started to lean back, but you brought him towards you again with a finger on his jaw. You kissed his cheek and watched him blush.
You chuckled to yourself as you got out and immediately heard the boys laughing. "Jacob is so red!"
"Am not!" Jacob returned.
"Did you guys hear?" Eric asked, and you thought it would be bad news. "We're going on a special field trip today."
"In high school? A "special" field trip?"
He shrugged as the warning bell rang. You said goodbye to everyone as you hurried to get to class. It didn't really matter however, because almost as soon as the bell rang, your teacher was in the classroom saying, "Let's head out to the bus!"
As a senior in high school, you thought it was a bit odd that there was a random field trip, but didn't really mind. It was good to get out.
You were trying to find the guys and you saw the familiar print on the back of Jacob's shirt, but some girl was annoyingly bumping into his shoulder for his attention: Emiko.
You excused yourself as you walked through people and pushed her away from Jacob with your good shoulder, grabbing his hand.
"You were in my spot." You bit.
"I want to sit next to him on the bus."
You kept your expression the same. "Can we have one day, at least, where we forget the other exists?"
She smirked. She'd let you think that, but she wouldn't let you get off that easily.
Magically, you and all eleven boys were put on the same bus, and you all surrounded one another. "What is this field trip even for?" Chanhee asked.
"I think it's just a day to get away from school." Sangyeon said. "Only the seniors are going, so it's probably the schools way of congratulating us."
The bus ride was surprisingly peaceful. You and Jacob played Rock Paper Scissors with Haknyeon and Younghoon almost the whole time. When you weren't playing games, Jacob was rubbing the back of your hand with his thumb.
The buses arrived at the park, where your field trip would be held, and everyone rushed out. You found a nice spot underneath a tree and sat down. Jacob put his head on your shoulder, and Eric put his head in your lap. The free spot on your legs was taken over by Sunwoo's head, and Hyunjae started playing with the bracelets on your arm.
They were being clingy, but you didn't mind at all - not one bit. Your chest felt full of happiness and warmth when you were with them.
"Bread?" Younghoon asked.
You opened your mouth, and he put the soft homemade treat in your mouth. You took a bite and held it to Jacob, who took a small bite and smiled cutely at you.
Your phone buzzed and you fished it out of your back pocket without bothering Eric or Sunwoo.
Hyunjoon🎲
- guess what?
You
- what?
Hyunjoon🎲
- i'm in seoul right now. i flew in last night to surprise you but you're not at the penthouse >:(
You
- i have school today, you weirdo. we're at the park on a field trip, so come here or be square >:)
Hyunjoon🎲
- well, i'm not a square.
You laughed and put your phone in your lap. "I guess you guys will be meeting Hyunjoon in a little bit."
Kevin gasped. "The brother of our favorite Minji?"
"The brother of your favorite Minji." You nodded. "It's a pretty day to meet him, as well. If he starts asking an intolerable amount of questions, just go with it."
Jacob laughed. "I'm nervous now."
"Don't be! It's not like he's my parents." You told him.
"But he's still your older brother, and brothers are meticulous." He whispered. "I feel like I have to make a really good impression."
"You'll do just fine, baecop-"
"Chase!"
You were startled, and so were Sunwoo and Eric as they jumped off of your lap. You saw a group of slightly younger teenagers and stood up to greet them. You met them in the grass, trying to lead them away from the boyz.
"We're big fans, you're so incredible!" The first girl, almost in tears, told you. "Can we maybe get an autograph?"
"An autograph?" You laughed. "I don't even have a signature."
They laughed at your statement. "We'll help you make one!"
You ended up sitting on the ground with them as they started drawing different designs to help you out.
"Let's put a circus tent type of thing over the signature." You suggested. "It can go over this design here."
You politely grabbed the sharpie from the younger boys hand and recreated his design of your stage name, then put a small tent looking symbol over it.
"I like it! It fits you, Chase."
You smiled and handed the pen back. "What are your names?"
"Emmy." The first girl said.
The second girl was shy, and hugged her knees. "Chae."
The boy smiled big. "Doyun."
"Well, why don't we take a picture with this so we'll all remember it?"
They jumped up and took out their phones to take a picture with you. After getting plenty, you gave them hugs and sent them off with a smile. Emiko made your exposure to the world a bad experience, but those kids made you realize that there was more to it than what Emiko did. You were making an impact on younger kids, even older people, and inspiring them. That made it worth it.
"That was so precious." Changmin said. "I don't think I've ever seen you like that before."
"You looked so in your element." Hyunjae wiped a fake tear.
You were about to say something, but you saw a little girl standing in the pathway of someone who wasn't paying attention. You didn't want her to get run over, so you jogged over to her and moved her out of the way in the last second. You looked up to see who it was, and of course it was Emiko.
"Watch out, Emiko." You snapped. "You almost knocked her over."
You patted the little girl on the back and she ran to her mother, who was waving to you as a thank you. You looked back at Emiko, who was now in your face.
"Stop acting like you're on top, Minji."
